    Hello,

We are currently dealing with an issue of sharing the same gain structure for our FOH/monitor and online broadcast mix. We are using a Midas Pro2, DL251, and DL155. We are also mixing "in the box" for online broadcast in a studio not close to the location of the stageboxes.

What recommendations would you give for separating the gains for each mix. I recently saw we could use a DL451 splitter and feel this may work. Is there any other AES50 device, besides a mixer, that can remotely control the DL451's separate preamps (a computer or software)? This would be useful to be able to control the gains, independently of the FOH gains, for the online broadcast mix from the studio instead of locally at the DL451.

Any help and insight would be much appreciated.

Nigel67 Hi pfuentes. I think that the splitter that you are referring to is the DL431. This is no longer in manufacture but if you were able to get hold of one would be a good choice. It has transformer balanced outputs just for broadcast use. This is the link to the webpage https://www.midasconsoles.com/midas/product?modelCode=P0AFB The broadcast outputs are fixed gain Mic pre-amps, or you could use the electronically balanced outputs which have variable gain Mic pre-amps that can be controlled from the DL431 front panel or the console. The other unit you could use is the DL231 https://www.midasconsoles.com/midas/product?modelCode=P0AUZ This does not have the transformer balanced outputs but does still have 24 electronically balanced outputs that could feed your Broadcast console. The unit has 2 mic pre amps and all 24 outputs can be assigned to either. Although the DL231 doesn't have an adjustable gain pot on it so you can adjust gains locally, it would be possible for the broadcast sends to connect the PRO2 up to the DL231, adjust all the gains to a set level, and then disconnect the PRO2. The gains on those pre amps will then stay set, even over a power cycle and any fine adjustments can be made on the Broadcast console. before we go any further, you have mentioned the FOH/Monitor set up. Is the PRO2 doing FOH and Monitor, or do you have another console for that purpose, and what is it? Also, how many input channels are you looking at as this may affect which IO boxes you can use. Have a read through of the DL431 and DL231 manuals from the links above and give more details on your set up and I will help further. Many thanks

Hi Nigel. Thank you for responding. Greatly appreciated. I saw that some vendors still offer new DL431's. Will contact them o see if they still sell them. We are in need of 3 DL 431's (64 inputs). I also saw a video where a Midas Sales Representative stated that the mic pre's can be controlled remotely through a PC (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F9Rw_1kFjSQ). I just wanted to confirm this. And thank you very much for the insight on using the DL231's. I had not thought of connecting and setting the gains for the broadcast mix and then reconnecting to the front of house system. Can the PRO2 control both sets of gains at the same time or would I have to connect and reconnect from both the A and B mic pre's? Yes, the same PRO2 controls our FOH and monitors (which are 2 wedges and the rest are on P16m's in-ear monitor mixers). We just use aux mixes and send those to the wedges and P16m's. Let me know if you have any other questions on our setup? Again, many thanks for your help.

There does not appear to be a FREEZE button on the X32 edit version of Vintage Room.

Nigel67 Hi Syntrax87. The Freeze button is not yet available in the remote Gui. Unfortunately there is no timeline at present for when it will be added.

KyleJohnson Hello, Kyle here with Music Tribe. Please visit our Support page and submit a Product Registration for your mixer, you will receive a redemption code for Tracktion which is a multitrack recording software that you can use to record.

    Hi there,

I recently purchased 3 mics to record a podcast, but Audacity only recognizes OUT 1-2 / OUT 3-4. Host driver is WASAPI.

Please provide a link to download the UMC404HD Driver 3.29 which supposedly does support multi input recording via Audacity.

    Other solutions also fine.

Nigel67 Hi boabstewart73. Are you getting error messages? Can you give more information as to exactly what is happening.? Have you tried downloading the firmware onto your computer first of all using SimplyPut and then try upgrading the Flow 8.

If I select "Card 1-8" for Card Outs 1-8, what is the signal path?

    • Syntrax87
RexBeckett Hi Syntrax87, that routing would send USB inputs 1-8 directly to USB outputs 1-8 - with no processing.

Thanks, RexBecket! So, I would be sending signals from the computer (DAW) back to the computer on the same channels? Why would I do that? I guess I don’t quite grasp the ability to connect Card Ins to Card Outs, especially if it’s just a direct connection. Is this a way of adding DAW plug-in processing to a new set of tracks?

      • X32 Card Outs
RexBeckett The X32 routing system is very flexible but some routing options have little practical use. Routing Card outputs to Card inputs when using the X-USB card may not be useful but it makes more sense when using an X-Live card. In this case it can be used to route signals between the SD card and USB port.

I do have a couple of questions. The X32 manual seems to imply that you can connect a hard drive to the top USB port which is used for recording, saving, loading, etc. I notice that this port has no "eject" feature as does a Mac computer whenever a thumb drive or hard drive is attached, so my questions are:

Can you attach a hard drive to this port?
      and
Can I connect and disconnect that drive without fear of corrupting data on the drive, because it wasn't properly "ejected."

I do understand that no drive should be disconnected while the drive is being accessed, as indicated by the "access" light in the USB section, but apart from that, it appears that you can connect and disconnect devices (at least thumb drives) at will.

I would appreciate any information you can provide with regard to these questions.

      Thanks.

Is it possible to record to the X Live card from the SD16. I have always recording when I didn't use the stage box but now I'm not sure how to change the settings to record from the SD16. Thank You.

KyleJohnson Hi Mike, Kyle here with Music Tribe. Yes. Open the ROUTING>CARD menu on your console and change the options to AES50 1-8 and 9-16 to get the inputs of your SD16 to be routed to the Card. If you are also using local inputs on the Console then keep some of the options set to Local as well.

Can I send a wireless audio signal (iPad or iPod) to the XR18 while also controlling it from my iPad?

      DavidKnighton Hello jonskreen,
Wireless audio is not supported, as WiFi by nature it's not that great in terms of reliability. What I would recommend is to use a Bluetooth Wireless Receiver like the Klark Teknik DW20BR. This will allow you to stream Bluetooth audio from the iPad and then pass the signal through the receiver and into the analog inputs on the mixer.

Hello all.  this is my problem. I'm using my x32 rack as a stage box for my new wing . I have absolutely no problem with inputs on the rack and routings to the wing they work perfect. But what I can't figure out is how the use the 8 buss outputs on the rack and control them with the wing on the buss sends. # 9 -16 as an example. The routing is a bit confusing. Is there something on the rack that needs set up in its routing . Still a bit confused on the whole thing help if you can thank you all.

KyleJohnson Hello, Kyle here with Music Tribe. If you want to make your mixes on the WING and send them to the outputs on the X32 RACKS, then just assign the mixes from the WINGs AES50 outputs, then route those AES50 outputs directly to the XLR Outputs on the Racks. On the Rack, open ROUTING>XLR and assign AES50 X-X (depending on which AES50 channels you assigned your busses to on the WING)

Hello together. I just bought me my first setup. I want to create Leraning Videos.

I want to use a Rode Pro Caster, this GoXLR with USB Audio Interface und OBS.

My Problem is, that I cannot use my Mic, or only with low Level. After Installing GoXLR SW, I plug in my Mic via XLR.

In Windows I choose Boradcast Mic. In XLR I user setup "Dynamic". I only hear my Mic, when I am in Mic Setup in the app. After pressing ok, the sound is gone. I see no peak in windows, or OBS. I really go crazy ^^

Has anyone any Idea for me? Thank you so much.
