On the VL3X, is it possible to erase the most recent overdub on a track? Say I recorded a side stick hit on beats 2 and 4, and overdubbed 8th note hi-hats, but messed it up. How can I erase just the hi-hats? Thanks.

Yep, on p 133 of the manaul, Undo and Redo section. Undo the last overdub by tapping the Loop switch. If you want to Undo the undone (put the overdub back), just tap the Loop switch again.

On the VL3X, can I set the looper's quantization value to say 8th notes, quarter notes, triplets, etc? This way I can still play sloppily and the looper will record on the beat?

I'm not talking about setting the looper to Free vs Quantize vs Smart mode.

      Hi @ChrisF ,

Quantization is locked to the nearest beat in the tempo; you can't set it to longer or shorter subdivisions. You can see all the info on VL3x's quantization on page 137 of the reference manual.

Hi, I have a Harmony GXT and my acoustic is hooked up thru the unit and into a Boss Singer Pro amp. I have my FX tuned completely off on the GXT and the harmonies turned off. Yet, I am getting a warbly sound in my speaker. I have also tried recording a loop with my amp and I can hear it worse. What is causing this? Also get it when I turn harmonies on for my vocal. I get it with acoustic and vocal.

      Hi @chriswilliamsme ,

It would help us if you could capture a recording of the sound and share it here! That way we can diagnose whether it has to do with your settings or if it's a hardware issue.

      Hi @Henko ,

I asked around here at the TC Helicon office and it seems that there might not be a global factory reset function on the original voicelive, and if there is, we don't know how to do it!

That said, you can reset individual presets and songs in the Voicelive's settings; you can find more information on how to do this on page 44 of the Voicelive user manual. Hope this helps!

    Hi from Germany,

I know that many of you miss the function to start or stop the VL3X by midi messages. Many of you use a drum machine like the Beatbuddy, which sends midi start and stop.

I found the voodoolab controlswitcher (http://www.voodoolab.com/controlswitcher.htm), which is ment to switch guitar amps without midi connections via midi control. Why shouldn't  it be possible to use this switcher for the VL3X (as the switch3)?

Anyone out there who tried that? It should be possible to change the switch 3, changing one switch for a mono or stereo jack and connecting that to the voodoolab switcher. Did anybody try that? Do you think it would work with the VL3X connected to the Beatbuddy?

    That would be great!

    Toni

      Hi @antonmartin ,

The switch-3 and switch-6 use somewhat different methods than other footswitches, so that Voodoo lab switcher wouldn't be able to send messages to the VL3x. That said, you could just just take midi from the Beat Buddy and send it to the VL3x, or vice versa.

      Hello Rob,

thanks for your reply. I've tried 2 Boss FS-5U Switches instead of Switch3 and they worked perfectly like switches 1 and 2 of TC Helicon Switch3. So they are normal switches. My idea is to run with a stereo patch cable from VL3X's  footswitch out directly to the Voodoo Lab Control Switcher, which is able to translate midi messages to normal switch messages. So the Beatbuddy can send start-/stop-commands to the Voodoo, which translates it to normal switch impulses. That way I should be able to e.g. start or stop the looper in VL3X as I would do it by pressing a switch on Switch3 which is mapped to e.g. loopA.

What do you think about that?

      Regards

      Toni

@antonmartin you can definitely try it; we don't have a ControlSwitcher in office to test, so I can't say whether it'll work or if there'll be any odd quirks, but by all means give it a go!

Hi, I have a problem with the harmonisation of the keyboard and the microphone. I connect the keyboard via midi to the vlt2, the harmonizations work but as i go to select the keyboard violins key, the microphone has an immediate drop in volume. To sing I need to immediately disconnect the midi connection. Any suggestions on the settings? Thanks

      Hi @marcusmiller62 ,

Your midi keyboard is likely changing a volume change message to the Voicelive. Which midi keyboard are you using?

Try changing the "cc channel" in your midi setting and see if this solves the issue. Depending on your midi controller we may also be able to disable the cc message.

      Hi  TCH-Rob

I resolved the drop volume problem by setting, as you advice me, my VLT2 in MIDI 7/12 (MIDI Channel & CC Channell on OFF ). We also compared Harmony M ( plugged in Korg ) and my VLT2 and we noticed that Harmony M harmonized more precisely ( we also did some settings on korg to make VLT2 work better ). Have you any suggestions to make it harmonize every single chord better. What parameters could I take action on? Thank you very much

@marcusmiller62 It's tough to say without more details on how your VLT2 is set; do you think you could send the details of your harmony settings? You could list the values of the parameters or take pictures of the different parameter screens

    Hi,

is it possible to assign start/stop audio recording in VL3X to one switch? It's difficult to press the two buttons at the same time.

    Thanks

Are you talking about looper audio recording?

      Hi from Germany,

no, I mean audio recording of the whole project from the main outs to an USB stick.

Ok you mean "direct to USB recording," where you have to press the Genre and Step buttons simultaneously to start/stop. Yeah I don't think you can "map" those buttons to a footswitch. It would even be useful to have a "pause" function for this, and then map that to a button, but I don't think the "pause" function even exists.

      antonmartin

Yes, I mean "direct to USB recording", which is a great feture but hard to handle, because you have to start/stop recording by hand. I think it would be much better, if you could map it to a footswitch.

Another great feature would be midi start and stop from an external device, e.g. the Beatgbuddy drum machine. So when you start the Beatbuddy the VL3X looper would start automatically. Same with stop.

These two things are my top requests for VL3X updates.

Thanks a lot for your reply.

In System->Footswitch, I set my Swtich 6's button 1 for loop start/record, but it does it for loop A. How can assign a different button to loop start/record for loop B? Another button for loop C? Or maybe just re-assign button 1 for start/record for loop B? Then again re-assign for stop/record for loop C?

@ChrisF it appears that you can only control loop a from the switch 6, which is admittably an odd design decision. Apparently it's related to how the looper's code was done. Fortunately, all the independent loop controls are available from the 6 switches on the front of VL3, so you could still have simultaneous control over at least two of the loops between the switch-6 and VL3x.

Ok then I'm NOT missing something. I like having the VL3X on the table right in front of me to ease tweaking parameters with switches/knobs while trying out different features, and have the Switch 6 do things like loop start/record/stop.

Have you tried the voicelive editor software ? Easy editing from your computer. It's a boon for tired, old eyes like mine... and free.

I've read the looper section in the manual, and didn't find the answer.

How can I trigger start of loop recording when I hit my first chord on my guitar for example? Is it possible?

P.S. You can tell I just got the VL3X this w/e, and am learning the basics.

      Me again

Press the "Looper" Button, In the "Loop Slot" tab, scroll to the bottom. There's an "Audio Cue" setting. That should do it. Also to the right is a "sensitivity" setting, which sets.....errrrr...how sensitive it is.

It was added with a firmware update, so it's not in the Manual.

So if I have sheet music that says "tempo = 125" I can't "dial in" 125 bpm on the $800 VL3X? Really? This can't be correct, right?

Hold the "Delay" Footswitch down until the "Tempo" Screen comes up, then use the Preset Up and Down buttons to tap Up or Down in 1Bpm Increments.

If that's not working,The tempos locked by the looper.
