MIDI question now please (first time I've looked at the MIDI on the XR series)....I have connected the controller to the XR 18 MIDI in (din) midi input is set to Behringer X Air in the DAW (and standalone VST too btw) but I'm getting no data coming in. MIDI RX in is set to on for both DIN and USB in settings. Is there something else I have missed?

I have now checked three midi cables..I have doubled checked the controller is send data on MIDI channel 1 into another device (iPad) all works....please don't tell me the MIDI port is somehow snafu on the XR? I only recently bought it, brand new!

I've just created a new USER 01 on the XR 18 in X AIR Edit for a Mac.
I put in 10Channels (10th being the L|R Main Channel.)
After saving a "Scene and Snapshot" of everything, I closed it down then relaunched the program.
When I went to load the USER 01, my MAIN L|R channel has disappeared, along with the 3x buttons "Select/Move/Resize". I've shut it down, rebooted my laptop, but they're still missing.
I understand for Windows PC the settings are stored in the file X-AIREdit.init and you can fix the problem by editing the file and reducing the first number in the line that starts: -localprefs/user1 8 OFF 21 22 23 ... which is near the end of the file or to just delete the file and the X-Air Edit will recreate it when you start it again.

How is this done on a Mac where is the file located? Thanks

DaveMorrison look at the "com.musictribe.X32-Edit.plist" under in your Users/Library/Preferences (~/Library/)

RexMiller The only file I could find was com.musictribe.X-Air-Edit.plist. I deleted it , initialized the mixer and did a hard reset. User1 still uneditable. Came up with the same number of channels but empty unless I loaded a scene. Seems as though once it’s done, the mixer stores it that way permanently. Did not see any language in the plist referring to Utility User1. May have some plist elsewhere that I cannot find. Been very frustrating. This was mention 3 years ago and still nothing done to fix this.

RexMiller Finally got it working. Discovered that even after deleting the plist, initializing the system from Setup, then opening and closing the program, it does not create a new plist until a scene is loaded. So I deleted the plist, initialized the program and saved that as a scene. Closed then opened it and loaded the scene and I was able to edit the User1 again. After deleting some channels from it I then loaded my scene that I had from a previous setup and the User1 worked again. It is buggy how that works and whatever scene your in, the number of channels selected from the User settings never change unless edited. Even then it carries over from the last change. There is a limit to how many channels one can add before things disappear but I’m not sure what that number is. The software needs fixed for the User settings for sure.

    HI

Got an issue with X18 (purchased recently) where Bus1 used for in ear monitoring output is only sending left panned signal.

Yet all settings for channels and Bus 1 appear to be panned centrally ?

Paul_Vannatto Select the bus 1 master fader and adjust the pan from hard left to center. Also check to make sure it is not stereo linked to bus 2.

Hi, I recently bought a Behringer C-1U for having a better audio quality in zoom meetings, but can't seem to make it work. I can't record any input audio on the mic.

Can anyone point me to a possible solution?

    Thanks

    Dear Engineer,

The outputs of the UMC202HD is realized by 2 Jack 6.3 mm plugs. Are these outputs balanced or not?

The input circuit allows switching between Line and Instrument. Does this mean it switches between Jack and XLR?

In case you can provide some part of the schematics related to the first question it would be nice to know how the switching circuit and input stage before the amp looks like.

    THank you.

    Best regards,

    Paul

PaulSpaanderman By the way, I do not ask for all the schematics but only the input secretary related to the line/Instrument switching. When you can explain it without drawings no problem but I could imagine a simple hand drawing would be fine.

The QSG states TRS 1/4" jacks, tip, ring, sleeve so yes these will be balanced. The combination xlr/jack sockets can take either of these inputs so the circuit responds to whatever is plugged in.

PaulSpaanderman Dear Dale, Thank you. With regards to the XLR/Jack input: Is the switch hard wired switching between the XLR and the Jack inputs? How is the debounce covered in that case / What is the switch electrically doing? Can I assume that I just connect an unbalanced source and by that ground the negative signal input pin? Thank you

I might have missed this in any of the firmware updates for the Crave, but would it be possible to add controls for playback direction of the sequencer? I can't find documentation on firmware updates.

I'm referencing the M32 here, but it would be incredible to be able to play forwards, backwards, pendulum, ping pong and especially random steps from a sequence!

Such an awesome synth to integrate with your modular, random step playback would be godlike.

We have a WING permanent install in our church sanctuary, with aux send mixes sent to dedicated wireless units for each "position" in the band.  We always recall the entire board from a preset that has been dialed in for optimal live and broadcast mix sound (which means any temporary changes to in ear mixes for our platform performers varying personal preferences have to be manualled dialed back in every time).

Wouldn't it be awesome if, for example, each of our 3 bass players who use the same mix and dedicated wireless pack could each save their preferred mix levels locally in the app - such that they could be easily recalled, regardless of what baseline preset/scene was loaded on the main board?

Is there an existing way to achieve this I have not found?  If not - could this new product feature be considered for future app and/or firmware releases for WING?

KevinMaxwell If they were each using Mixing Station Pro (MSP) to adjust their In Ear Monitor (IEM) mix they can save their mix in MSP on their device and recall it when it is their turn to play.

      • WING - Feature request? Save snapshot of mix settings on Wing Q app...
KevinMaxwell In Mixing Station Pro each person using the app should be in restricted mode and if they select which Mix Bus is for them then they can save their settings. From the mixer screen they will see a folder Icon in the upper right corner. If they click on that, a window will pop up where they can select “New” and that gives them the ability to save (name) a “New Preset”. Then the next time that they are playing they just need to go to that same folder screen and click on the preset that they saved but this time select load. Just clicking on the preset name will call it up and ask if you want to load it. When you load it the settings that you saved will be recalled.

I hope that helps you. There is a lot of capability to customize how Mixing Station works and looks. So keep that in mind when looking at Mixing Station. I just setup a custom layout for a church to help their Singers mix their own IEM.

      • WING - Feature request? Save snapshot of mix settings on Wing Q app...
KevinMaxwell In my custom Layout I have a few IDCAs along with a few channels. One IDCA is all other singers, one is talking, one is Instruments, one is drums and one is Playback and one is the 2 ambient mics. And a few faders are actual channels. It is a handy way to give full control but not have to deal with all of the faders. If you have the mixer settings set to “Popgroups” then when someone touches the IDCA name (on a IDCA fader) the channels in the IDCA pop up on the screen and you can mix those channels there. If you turn off the “Popgroups” then when you touch the IDCA name a screen pops up showing you what is in the IDCA and you can add or take things out of the IDCA at that time. It is very handy way to make changes for each person’s personal preference.

I also set it up so that the sound person can Solo the Mix bus for each person’s IEM mix and can help them if they need it. They have an X32 at FOH and an X32Rack as the Monitor mixer. So it is a little bit tricky as to how I am doing that.

    Hi

    Hi

Is there an internal GEQ/PEQ that I can assign to a monitor (aux) send in an XAir 18 please?

I'm pretty sure I can switch monitor sends between Post Fader and Pre Fader with one button, but is there a way I can make the monitor pre-eq please? It doesn't make such sense to me to be post-eq because that means every change in the house is going to appear in the monitors, and who wants that?

    Thank you

    Phil

Paul_Vannatto Each channel has one EQ, which can be set as PEQ, GEQ or TEQ. If you need separate EQ to the sends to buses, I would suggest you invest in some P16 (which have basic EQ) that use the Ultranet port.

Using the X-Air Edit app, the channel sends taps to buses can be set as: Input, Pre EQ, Post EQ, Pre Fader, Post Fader or Subgroup (on the channel's Sends screen)

Soccerman58 Hi. I just watched a Youtube video on the X Air app. I'm assuming that this was the laptop version of the same software these guys want me to run using an Android Pad - correct me if I am wrong. I saw how to change the pickoff point for the aux send which is great. If I select Pre EQ is that post compressor please?
      • Sep 16
    • Soccerman58
Paul_Vannatto The X-Air Edit (for Windows, Mac, linux and Raspberry Pi) is a full editor, which is different than all android and iOS (tablet and phone) apps. The android/iOS apps are designed to be mixing apps. The best one available is Mixing Station Pro. I use both for all my events, using X-Air Edit (on my linux laptop) to setup and troubleshoot and Mixing Station Pro (on my android tablet) to mix the show.

The "pickoff point" is called a tap. On the X-Air console, the EQ comes before the compressor. Therefore Pre-EQ and Post-EQ are both pre-compressor. Typically you don't want compression happening in monitor mixes. If for some reason you have to have compression but not EQ, you would need to upgrade to an X32, which allows a change in the signal path to put the compressor pre or post of the EQ.

Paul_Vannatto I'm not sure why you are so concerned about using the channel EQ for both FOH and monitors. These EQ are to adjust the inputs for feedback control and minor input response massaging. Typically you would want the same for both FOH and monitors. For example, a vocal mic would typically have a low cut (to cut out rumble and low end mud), a high shelf (for air) and some mid cuts for feedback control. All that you would want for both FOH and monitors. The EQ differences lies in the outputs to adjust for speaker responses and that would be done using the output EQ (eg Main LR, bus outputs, etc.). And normally all of these adjustments would be done during soundcheck and left as is for the performance.

Hi Paul. Thanks for all the comments and tips. I only have the android tablet with this particular band and I don't know what the software is called. Unfortunately I must have been watching a Youtube tutorial for the laptop version. When the guy clicked the aux bus it activated a button to open an equalizer for the bus - so does that mean that I wouldn't be able to access that equalizer from the tablet please? I like the idea of using a Windows laptop with Edit to augment the tablet and Mixing Station Pro is only 6 bucks. I'm not a computer guy though - would I be lucky enough for the laptop to detect the wifi signal automatically?

I followed your protocol and opened a ticket on June 21 and due to your software change finally ordered and received a replacement Bluetooth USB on July 27th and have tried all the traditional troubleshooting tips given by your team, however the lapse in time by Music Tribe has us almost three months without being to use our Behringer Speaker system.  We are a senior living facility and with Covid we need this speaker for recreation for our seniors.  How can we escalate a replacement or repair of our new USB?  Its been over a month since anyone has even replied to me and I've replied to that last email three times now.

What are you plugging the dongle into? There is a chance the microphone was the original culprit, but it could also be a mainboard issue if you are plugging it into an MPA speaker. If it is the mic

    Hi

I have 2 lead singers and I would like to try the dual mode Fairchild compressor as an insert

The manual is a bit thin on this, but as I see it I just have to load the compressor in the rack, click the insert button, select channels 1 and 2 from the dropdown list, then click the purple button for each channel. Can anyone confirm please?

    Thanks

Soccerman58 Hi again. So if the other 2 compressor plugin FX are only stereo, presumably I can only really use those on a stereo bus please? I guess the same question goes for the Pultec EQ clones too. I would like to try the Pultec as an insert on kick drum, but I suspect if I click the insert button and select Channel 10 from the channel list I will only get the EQ applied to either the left or the right side of the PA which would be silly. Thanks

Paul_Vannatto The other 2 compressors come in both dual (mono) and stereo, just like the Fairchild one.

Regarding your second question (Pultek EQ as an insert), I don't think you are understanding how an insert works. The kick signal will be a mono signal. If there is an FX inserted into the signal chain, the resulting (wet) signal will return as a mono signal to the signal path.
