    Hello,

    1. Is it better to control my XR18 during a live gig through a wifi-connected (via external router) Android tablet or through a wifi connected (also via external router) PC (laptop)?

    2. Relatedly, is there some sort of priority one gets over the other? For example, if one person is making changes through the PC does the PC somehow block any changes another person puts in through their tablet or phone (changes to in ear monitor AUX outs, for example)?

    3. Finally, can someone confirm that snapshots are saved in the mixer whereas scenes are saved in the controlling device? If so, if I save a scene in my laptop and call it up at the start of the gig, can I then move my controlling to the tablet and use the tablet during the gig? Then at the end of the gig would I have to start the laptop back up to save the gig's "scene"?

Thanks and sorry for the complicated questions. I am new and we gig tomorrow.

    Brian

Paul_Vannatto 1. Yes that is the way I've been doing it for the past few years. For the android app, you should get Mixing Station and use a dual (or triple) band external router (use the 5Ghz band).
      2. No, there is no priority. But with Mixing Station, you can restrict control to a certain mixbus (for their IEM's, etc) and you can run unrestricted for the Main LR outputs.
      3. Yes, snapshot are stored in the XR18 (up to 64 of them) and scenes are stored on the device (eg. laptop) as scene files. What you describe is how I do it.

I just bought an XR12.  Is it possible to plug in a Bluetooth interface with dual rca? I'm looking to connect my iPhone to the mixer to play music out of it. With my X32 rack there are stereo left right that I connect the rca cable to.  Thanks!

Paul_Vannatto Yes you should be able to use a bluetooth interface. But you will need a couple of RCA to 1/4" cables to connect to the XR12.

I've been using my 4 year old X Air 18 with the same computer running Windows 10 almost daily, and suddenly yesterday evening when I powered up my "studio", no sound could be heard from any of my inputs. For about 4 years all I have needed to do was power the X18, then power up my PC, (or vice versa) and I could hear all my inputs including the output audio of my PC.

Now, I have to open the X Air editor program to hear my inputs and see the X Air digital meters respond to audio. At about 80% load progress of the editor, I begin to hear sound. Very peculiar. Very irritating.

    Has anybody experienced this?

    I am running V1.5 of the X Air editor, and W10 Pro v 10.0.19041 Build 19041.

DaveBeard Current firmware version is 1.09 fwiw.

Paul_Vannatto That firmware is pretty old Dave. Current version is 1.18 and X-Air Edit 1.7. I would suggest you first update both firmware and Edit.

Thanks Paul, I have updated both successfully, and unfortunately, there is no change in my issue.

Paul_Vannatto When you sync X-Air Edit to the PC, which direction are you doing it - Mixer to PC or PC to Mixer?

Thanks to Paul Vannatto and others on this forum/tribe. The lightbulb turned on. I get it now. I understand how the parts connect, how to make changes easily, and get it to do what we need. It's very exciting.

Hi, as per title, when i plug in a headphone to behringer 1202fx headphone jack, the microphone is not heard. But when i plug the headphone to main out, i can hear the mic.

Is this normal? Whats the reason behind this design?

    Thanks

If you want to send your S16 signal via shielded Cat5E cable to 2 different X32 mixers can you split the signal using a standard RJ45 splitter or is there another recommended method?

    Thanks!

Paul_Vannatto No, AES50 is not ethernet compatible. It is a proprietary protocol (SuperMac) that only uses the ethernet physical layer. To connect an S16 to two consoles (X32/M32/Wing), one of the consoles would have to be in between the other and the S16. On the middle console, the routing would need to be assigned to transfer S16 inputs to the other console and outputs of the other consoles would need to be transferred to the S16 (in the Routing, AES50 screen).

WrongWayRay Thank you very much. Using youtube link you sent I got the X-touch all hooked up. I tried setup for XR18 and had no luck. When I get to "With a Sonar project open, hit your 'p' keyboard key and the Preferences page will open. The top "Audio" section, under Devices is where you select all (or some) of your audio pairs" I do not see anything about XR18. It shows only one audio device "M-Audio Delta ASIO Analog In" It has 5 inputs and 6 outputs.

WrongWayRay When I go to preferences>Midi>device, in the input and output sections, the X18/XR18 shows up and has check marks in them. So computer is seeing I have the XR18 Midi hooked, but in the Preferences>Audio>Device nothing XR18 shows in the Audio inputs or outputs.

WrongWayRay Any clue what I am doing wrong? I was thinking it might be how its cabled. I have one USB cable between computer and X-Touch. A second USB cable between computer and XR-18. Do I need a ethernet cable between the X-touch and XR18?

PedroRodrigues Hi WrongWayRay, thank you for your reply,on your XR18 please make sure that your X AIR Mixer is updated to firmware 1.13 or higher
Please go to your X AIR Mixer’s product page and please download the most recent firmware to your PC by following the link below:

        https://www.behringer.com/behringer/product?modelCode=P0BI8

Connect the X AIR EDIT application on your PC with your X AIR Mixer
Open the Setup/Connection page and upload the new firmware to your mixer

When it comes to the X-TOUCH, please make sure your unit is updated to firmware 1.15 or higher.
The current firmware is briefly displayed above “BARS” when starting (OR hold down the display button while powering on)
Please follow the link below to access the X-TOUCH product page and download the most recent firmware update to your PC.

        https://www.behringer.com/behringer/product?modelCode=P0B1X

        To update X-Touch firmware:

        https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q4ZKXVXQP8g&list=PLkfJvKuL08vEqdTwKbanbOfb6zagouB65&index=2&t=11s

Connect the X-TOUCH and X AIR Mixer using a standard Ethernet LAN cable, or alternatively using 2 MIDI cables, when “LFC Mode” is MIDI.
Please move the small slider switch on the X-AIR mixer to the “Ethernet” position and power the mixer up
To perform the Direct Ethernet Connection, where no router involved,X-Air ethernet to X-Touch ethernet port.
Hold down the ch 1 Select button while switching the X-TOUCH power on.
Ch 1 display will show one of the operating modes-good idea to view them all to see your options!
Use the ch 1 rotary encoder to select the mode “Xctl”
Then use the ch 2 encoder to choose the interface “IFC”. Select “Network”
Use the ch 3 encoder to specify the network mode “DHCP” or “slv ip”
X-TOUCH can register on a network in two different DHCP modes:

1.DHCP = ON (default), automatically detects/assigns an IP address

2.DHCP = OFF, requires manual setup of “my IP” address like “slv ip”

Enter the slave IP by turning the cn 3-7 encoders
When the above settings are correct, press the ch 1 select button (led goes off), which saves the settings
The LCD displays will turn black/grey for a few seconds. Then the ch1-ch3 scribble strips will indicate:

        * X-TOUCH IP address on the top lines
        * Mixer IP address on the lower lines

If the second line does not show a valid Mixer IP address, press the CH08 rotary “Scan” for another mixer.

You must wait for a little while, until the channel LCDs and fader positions are updated with the actual mixer settings. Now, your X-TOUCH control surface is connected with the mixer You can now access all the controls.
The next time X-TOUCH is started, it will automatically attempt to connect to the mixer with the same IP address again. If it does not connect automatically, hit channel 8 encoder again to scan.
Please follow the link below to access a full set up video guide for you unit.
