One of my speakers (Eurolive VS1220) stopped working. Nothing is coming out. What could be the problem and can I fix it?

Hi, I would like to connect "Presonus eris 3.5" to "Behringer um2" using balanced cable, is this the right cable? Or some other cable?IMG_20200119_001928.jpg

Hi, I want to connect "Behringer um2" to "Presonus eris 3.5" using balanced cable, so the cable on the pic is the right one? Thank you in advance.

      @Ozzie666

The Behringer um2 doesn't have balance outputs so there is no cable to make a balanced connection.

Ohh I see... Thank you for your kind answer, if I may ask? What is the best way to connect Presonus eris 3.5 to my laptop? Should I look for a DAC with balanced output or go for Behringer um2 or just use the headphone jack and don't bother at all?

How about an RCA (normal Hi-Fi stereo) cable? That's the easiest.

I am interested in a pair of Tannoy XTF8 speakers. I have no XTF6 speakers in the area but there are some 8's about 40 miles from me. Before I make the drive, I have read a few reviews where it states one must have a fair amount of room for these to sound their best. My room is about 216 or so square feet, roughly 14.5 feet wide and about 15 feet deep with 12 foot ceilings. Any one out there with an idea if these would work and I should make the drive to get them? I am sure I can demo them inmy home but frankly, with the traffic conditions here, I would prefer to do as little driving as possible.

    Thanks for the help.

    Robert

Perhaps I need to rephrase my question. I need to know or hear from anyone using the Tannoy XTF8 speakers and the size of the room in which those speakers are being used. I do not want to overload my room with bass so when reviewers and others say that the XTF8 needs a "good sized room", what are some examples of a "good sized room"?

      Thanks...

    Hi,

Someone to tell me what is internal wiring of DC-8?

I think to bi-wire them (2 runs per speaker), but dont know what gauge and cable type to looking for.

    The amp is Marantz PM11S3.

    Thank you,

Hi, Use a thick multistrand cable for the LF and a good quality solid core for the HF to yield the best results. The amplifier sends exactly the same signal through single or bi-wired cables. The difference comes in the separation of frequencies at the speaker end of the cable. The internal components (crossover) of a speaker sends the high frequencies and low frequencies to the correct drivers/tweeter. Even though the difference is minimal, many audiophiles claim this bi-wiring method increases the stereo separation and perceived level of detail.

I have an old pair (40 years old!) of Tannoy Berkeley speakers. They have the 12" dual concentric speakers. Sadly, I now have a great deal of distortion in one of the speakers I'm not sure if these speakers are even available anymore. Does anyone have an idea of how I might fix/replace one/both of these speakers?

Hi, send mail from Japan. I also have a old Tannoy.

Your case is 2 way buy new one or repair.

Even if the old speaker is distorted, it is difficult to answer because we do not know whether you are the same distortion, but the treble or bass or both, most often the edge supporting the cone deteriorates (always due to gravity For example, the voice coil relative to the magnet pulled down) does not maintain the correct position.
It's actually more complicated, but from the experience of JBL LE8T, this is probably the one thing that's wrong.

      # 1 HPD385 The edge is deteriorated
      # 3 HPD385 high frequency magnetic very iderably oxidized into the gap
      # 4 HPD385 Low frequency magnetic Red rust is remarkable here
      # 5 3839M Ferrite magnetism is also covered with oxide
      # 6 3839M High frequency side voice coil oxidation
      # 7 HPD385 Low frequency side voice coil oxidation (Originally red coated wire, one side oxidized to blue green)
      # 8 HDP385 Hardware around the edge This also has red rust!
      # 9 Westminster unit Connector Oxidized and deformed
      # 10 Below is the photo after overhaul.

      General repair price per unit
TANNOY HPD385 (Round connector type) Repair set: 1 pc. ¥ 64,500 (excluding tax)
TANNOY 3828, Westminster unit, etc. (with a square connector housing) Repair set: 1 pc. ¥ 68,500 (excluding tax)
Depending on the degree of oxidation of the magnet and the deterioration of each part, the above general repair price may be added. Formal quotes will be provided after the actual item is confirmed.

Hi Chris, welcome to the community.

They look like the glue spots that hold the connections between the voice-coil and the flexible leads on the back of the cone. They are present on most loudspeaker cones but are sometimes hidden by dust covers.

Thanks for the reply Rex. And I apologize for no formal intro to the community. Yes I thought that was the area where wires from voice-coil connect. Those spots were not visible before. When I turn Amps on those areas are warm and pliable as though melting, like a short or something!!?

Voice-coils do get warm when producing sound. If they get warm with the amps on but no music playing, I would worry about the amps. A short in a voice-coil would severely reduce the output - and is unlikely in two drivers. High-frequency oscillation in the amps could cause excessive heat in voice-coils.

Hi I am going to order the tannoy xt6f or possibly the xt8f. I have a large room but am worried that although the xt8f is probably the better speaker to get, that the bass may still be too strong at times. Do the speakers come with bungs for the bass ports? If not do tannoy stock bungs and would they be recommended for use?

Getting a server error while reporting an issue with a Guitar Link UCG102. I get no audio input. Can someone let me know when the server is working so I can create a ticket for an RMA?
