I hope I'm not the only one getting excited for the summer music festival season!  I'm looking for some recommendations to improve my wireless setup.  We currently use a Apple Airport Express for wifi.  It has been extremely reliable.  We do however have problems when we go outdoors and want to move away from the board for festivals.  We seem to loose signal 30-40 feet from stage.  I would prefer to keep the board on stage and mix from an iPad out front.

I have heard that some people use an access point, like an Ubiquiti, to increase wifi range?  I'm wondering what others are using and if you might recommend a product to use to increase our range from stage.

Thanks and I hope people can get back to business and start making live music soon!

Dale_M Hi MarkNorgren they are arguably all different with access points as well as remote devices. My colleague who still engineered (pre Covid 19) settled for an Ubiquiti one.
We would recommend a good line of sight & high positioning which helps as well as a Mac program like "Wifi Explorer" to assist the user in seeing the busy traffic issues present.

Paul_Vannatto Yes you can. But backup your scenes, snippets and presets first. Also make note of all of the settings on the first 4 screens of the Setup section.

angleton1stumc Thanks for the information. I always have a backup for my scenes, snippets and presets so that is not an issue but when you say make note of the settings on the first for screens of the setup section do you mean that the upload of firmware will change those or is this a precaution only.

Paul_Vannatto Yes the update to firmware 4.x will reset everything to factory default. Going forward, firmware 4.x has a new feature of backing up the complete console, including those Setup settings.

Hi all, I am having a hard time finding an answer to the following so posting here to see if anyone can help. Thanks in advance.

I have an MR18 I'm controlling from my Windows laptop. They're connected via ethernet for the MR18 controller, and USB for recording to DAW. Mixing and recording work fine. We're using 9 channels all with analog inputs and I'm using Acid Music Studio for my DAW.

I also have 1 input where the source is set to USB, to play audio from the laptop back into the mix. This works fine for the live mix, but it's not being picked up by the DAW for recording. In the DAW I set the input for the track to be the channel I've got the USB running through -- just like how the other DAW tracks are set up -- but it doesn't detect the audio.

    All suggestions welcome.

RexBeckett Hi guitarsit, you need to change the signal tap for the channel with the USB source. This is on the In/Out -> USB Sends tab. The default tap is Analog which is directly from the analogue input A/D converter. If you change the signal tap to Input it will take the feed from after the analogue/USB switch and therefore record the USB playback. Make sure that you don't enable record monitoring to the same USB track in the DAW software or you will get digital feedback.

Hello guys, I am having trouble with my M32 working with Studio One. I am getting signal out of the DAW in this example a loop.

But it seems I am getting no signal in the Daw and the faders aren`t moving when I slide the m32 faders.

Who can help me with a proper connection. Or isn`t Studio One not the most suitable DAW for the MidasThanks in advance!

Paul_Vannatto What do you have assigned on the Routing, Card out screen?

For full M32 integration, I would suggest using Reaper with Patrick's X32Reaper app (found here https://sites.google.com/site/patrickmaillot/x32#h.p_DUz7OP4Wmg0- ) or his commercial X32Automate (found here https://x32ram.com/ )

      DavidKnighton Hello Seth,
Are you getting any audio into your computer or no audio at all? Does your computer even recognize the U32 as an interface? Are you using Mac or Windows? If Mac, you need to update the firmware via Windows computer in order for the USB to discover on Mac. The update tool is here https://www.midasconsoles.com/midas/product?modelCode=P0AJK under the SOFTWARE tab.

Hi, I have an X32 running into 2 DL153's. Everything on the 1st DL153 works great, but the second one the inputs gain stage is much lower than plugging a device into the 1st DL153. Am I missing something in the set-up that might cause the second DL153 not to perform exactly as the 1st one?

GaryHiggins You can't daisy chain blue box Midas stageboxes. If that's what you did, that might be it. If you use different ports and the settings are identical, it maybe could be different firmware? Try switching the stagebox from A to B or whatever one is right and see if it's the same. I guess it could be the hardware is defective, hope not.

      • X32 - going to 2 DL153's
shawnrowe1 I will be back over there in the morning. They aren't daisy chained, they are AES50 A to the first one and AES50 B to the second one. But second one Mic Pre's get much less gain. I got another DL153 in case I can't resolve it on the hardware side. I'm wondering if the X32 treats them differently being on a S-16 stage box, I believe you have a master Sync and the other boxes would sync to that box for gain control? Not sure if the step-up to a Midas stagebox does the same processing to be controlled by the X32?

      • X32 - going to 2 DL153's
GaryHiggins I would think the X32 would be master for both (sync Int) I don't own a 153 so I am unsure how the see sync) would guess both should be set as slave to the X32. Great you have a spare 153! That should seal it if it works, it would be hardware (or still firmware I guess) as to the cause for the one with weak gain. You are sure it's not the X32 gain setting on the particular port?
        • July 6, 2020
    • shawnrowe1
Nigel67 Hi shawnrowe1, as Gary mentioned above, the X32 will be master and the DL153's will be set to slave. They cannot be daisy chained together, one in AES50 A and the other in AES50 B. There should be no reason for a difference in gains so you might want to check the mic gain and digital trim positions via the surface. I am unsure if you have seen this, but to get an output from the DL153, its not as straight forward as you may think. https://musictribecommunity.powerappsportals.com/en-us/knowledgebase/article/KA-02305
I also do not know how this would affect the patching of the second DL153 hanging off the AES50B port, with regards to the inputs. I have no way of checking either as we are working from home. It may require you to do a little testing yourself I am afraid. Quickest way to tell if one unit is faulty is to swap ports with them and see if the fault follows or not.

      • X32 - going to 2 DL153's
Nigel67 Hi shawnrowe1. I have just checked a DL153 on the A port and a DL151 on the B port. Didn't have another 153 but the X32 sees the boxes as DL15X not as individual boxes. The gain levels on all inputs were the same. With regards to the outputs to the boxes (the link that I put in), whether the unit is on the A or B port, you have to use AES50 A or AES50 B Out 17-24. Just to make this doubly understandable, if you want outputs 1-8 from the console to go to the 8 outputs on the DL153 plugged into port B, then you assign AES50 B outs 17-24. Any questions, please ask

      • X32 - going to 2 DL153's
shawnrowe1 Sorry - I need to udate - X32 is set to internal clock I have a DL151 on AES50 A and a DL153 on AES50 B. Both of these devices are on the same firmware and are set to external clock. The Device ID on THe DL151 is Device 1 and the DL153 is Device 2. I can plug my Line level Computer source into Inputs 31-32 on the Console by Patching through the Inputs 7-8 on the DL 153 and get low audio. If I move the input to device DL153 on inputs 15-16 and patch that to the console on 31-32, then the audio is clipping as it should. Move it back to DL153 and I have to boost gain on line level source to +10 just to get a nice volume.

shawnrowe1 I solved the issue - The reason I had low levels was because I actually didn't have head-amp control on the DL153. After doing some cross checking the problem just kept persisting no matter on the new 153 with updted firmware, etc.. I noticed that the second device was plugged into the 2nd AES50 port on the DL153. So, I thought maybe I don't have headamp control because of it might need to be in port 1 and not 2... BINGO! Now I have control of both devices and audio passing as it should. Thanks everyone! Glad it was an easy fix, just not where I expected to find the answer.

      • X32 - going to 2 DL153's
Nigel67 Hi shawnrowe1. Great to hear that you are up and running. I have to admit that I have never tested using the DL15X B port to see what would happen. I would have expected it to have worked in exactly the same manner as the A port because it is just a redundant cable connection for PRO Series - obviously this isn't the case. There must be some other communication protocol going on here when connected to a X32. Will check it out next time I am in the office.

    Hello
there is an important bug in Firmware V4.03 and V4.04 when using an extension card DN-32-WSG; the sound saturates and the gain is changed...

in fact the thing is not more usable !!!!!
no problem in V4.02 (I just returned to that Firmware and have no more worries )

so I hope they will fix it as soon as possile !

I forgot to specify : the the card is running under SG Firmware V9; as I use it with MultiRack-Soundgrid (which is not compatible with SG V11 software)
but as I said : all is fine until Midas software V4.02….. the two software who came after were bugged ! and its a heavy bug so that the card becomes completely useless (=distortions and artefacts !!)

      zigson Hello
are there some news about this important bug out there ?? for most of the postings on this Forum I see MusicTribe-People responding; but no official answer to my post here!
this is an important bug and the DN32-WSG-card is no more usable with Console-Firmware V4.3 and V4.4….
something happened in the code between Firmware V4.2 and 4.3 that makes the card unusable
when does Musictribe fix that ugly bug ?? are the users condemned to stay with console Firmware 4.2 ???
(note: I use the card with Driver V9 and Waves MultiRack-SG V9.80; but same bug again also with Waves SoundGrid-Studio and SoundGrid Driver !! )

florianherm Hey, I am having a similar problem by using the X-WSG card. We are getting some serious clicks and cracks from our Waves Card Channels. Its really messed up. We had to downgrade the X32. Would also be cool to have some older firmware versions available on the Behringer website :D

Please give us a status update on fixing that bug :)

      zigson hello all there
I have some marvelous news; Musictribe seems not to be willing to answer, I finally contacted directly Waves and they answered instantly and gave me the right solution :

Here is what the Waves Support-Team wrote to me :
      >>>>>>>
We are aware of this issue and this is not a bug but a compatibility issue between the new firmware of the console and V9 SoundGrid applications.
As an alternative you can consider switching to SuperRack application, which works fine with the new firmware.
Let me know if any further information or assistance is required.

which means : spend another 600 bugs and you’ll be fine !!!
its just a shame !! and its sad, sad, sad…..

I wrote to your service team and they suggested I should write to you intead. My Midas XL4

has a broken IC circuit in the motherboard, i need either a new motherboard or just another IC cucuit.

I Have attached a picture in hope that someone in your network can help with this as without this the console

will be completely worthless, and that would be really bad.
