    Already a weird question, you might be saying. But, I have an M32C with an S32 and they work together PERFECTLY with every Ethernet cable that I have (I have a 150 foot, a 100 foot and a 20 foot). However, I bought a 3 foot one because the M32C and the S32 are in the same case together and it doesn't work (the units won't synch up with each other). I've returned the cable thinking it was defective, but the new one doesn't work, either. I know it sounds like a dumb question, but because all my others work and neither of the 3 foot ones work, it's making me ask if length has something to with it.. THANKS!!

      Paul_Vannatto Hey Jeff, no, there is no minimum requirements. Is the 3 foot patch cable shielded and does it have ethercon ends on it? The reason I ask is that without the ethercon ends, the RJ45 end might not be correctly aligned in the RJ45 jack.

      Also is it a straight configuration? If it is a crossover configuration, it definitely won't work.

    hey Guys!

    1. Is there hope in near future that Midas is gonna work with L-ISA studio?

    and as midas M32R user do i stand achance to get to use this new technology?

    2. I purchased the midas M32R from sweetwater last year it was shiped to africa uganda
    And early this year i got to use it for the first time it got an issue on the scribble lights nolonger show any thing

    Do you hve branch of your support team to help out around the eastafrica countries like kenya,ugand or tanzania

      KevinMaxwell Do you know how to export a scene for the mixer to a USB thumb drive? if you do edit your post here and attach the scene here and we can take a look at it there are settings that will cause the scribble strip light to no turn on.

    Is there a way to record one track, and listen to that track as you record another? Is this a routing question or is it even possible to do without a DAW?

    Is there away to get more than 32 input channels? Is there an expander that can be utilized?

    • kickdrument
      aeleasound Yes, for instance you can link a second mixer, eg an M32C via AES50, to add more input channels to the overall

      Would I used the main LR from the m32C and send it as a stereo input to the main board?

      Paul_Vannatto What was suggested will not work. If you are looking for more inputs, get a stagebox such as the DL16. If you are looking for more channel strips, get a Wing.

      DRPromotions How many? I use Aux 1 thru 6 as an inout also. Total of 38 channels.

    Hi,

    my church has a Midas m32 console, and 2 s16 stage boxes. We currently have in use the first 16 inputs ( 1-16 )on one s16 and a handful of inputs ( 17-25) on the next s16. We are also using 6 of the outputs ( 1-6 ) on one s16 for IEMs and 2 outputs ( 15-16 ) on the second s16 for our main PA. These are both connected via AES50 A cable. The stage boxes are connected by running a Ethernet cable from AES50 A on the back of the console to the AES50 A port on the first s16, then it is connected to the second s16 by running an Ethernet from AES50 B on the first box to AES50 A on the second s16.

    we also have a LABGRUPPEN connected to our m32 console for running overflow speakers to other rooms ( we have these labeled as matrix 1,2,3 ) these are connected to the back of the console on output ports ( 9-13 ) how can I map these stage boxes and local outputs in the routing section of my m32 but also have the ability to control each one of the matrix individually

      Paul_Vannatto I'm not sure what you are asking for. If you have the M32 and 2 S16 all connected and working as expected/desired, why are you asking for the routing?

      For your last question "ability to control each one of the matrix individually" you would do that by selecting the Mtx 1-6 Main C layer on the right bank of faders and adjust the desired matrix master fader.

        Dontiveros Sorry if it didn’t make sense, I am the 5th person to touch this board in less than 3yrs and each person before me has changed or routed things differently. It was a big mess and I guess I still don’t quite understand the p16, user and xlr tabs of the routing page.

        When I turn the faders up or down for our matrix’s it does not adjust/change the sound to those speakers it remains the same. Again sorry for the confusion I don’t know where to begin or how to ask for guidance on my situation.

      Paul_Vannatto Thanks for explaining your situation. Now I understand. Give me a moment and I will map out the routing for you.

    • Dontiveros
      Paul_Vannatto Here is the routing for your setup. If this doesn't work, what I would suggest is for you to export your scene to a file and provide a shareable link to it (using something like Google Drive, etc.). If you need help with that, let me know.
      Here is the routing:

      Routing, Inputs screen
      * Inputs 1-8 -> AES50 A1-8
      * Inputs 9-16 -> AES50 A9-16
      * Inputs 17-24 -> AES50 A17-24

      Routing, Out 1-16 screen
      * Output 1 -> Mixbus 1 (post fader)
      * Output 2 -> Mixbus 2 (post fader)
      * Output 3 -> Mixbus 3 (post fader)
      * Output 4 -> Mixbus 4 (post fader)
      * Output 5 -> Mixbus 5 (post fader)
      * Output 6 -> Mixbus 6 (post fader)

      * Output 9 -> Matrix 1 (post fader)
      * Output 10 -> Matrix 2 (post fader)
      * Output 11 -> Matrix 3 (post fader)

      * Output 15 -> Main L (post fader)
      * Output 16 -> Main R (post fader)

      Routing, AES50 (out to 2 S16)
      * AES50 A1-8 -> Out 1-8
      * AES50 A9-16 -> Out 9-16

      Routing, XLR (out to XLR outputs on back of console)
      * Outputs 1-4 -> Out 1-4
      * Outputs 5-8 -> Out 5-8
      * Outputs 9-12 -> Out 9-12
      * Outputs 13-16 -> Out 13-16

      For the 2 S16, make sure the first one is in mode 1 (Out+8 and Out+16 lights not lit) and the second one is in mode 2 (Out+8 is lit).

    We're ready to send some more people out for the in-person sessions.  https://www.midasconsoles.com/training.html has some June dates marked "Full". It isn't really clear what year these dates are for, either.

    I'm looking for the contact person on these trainings, any future dates, maybe how to wait-list our people in case the June slots open up.  Thanks!

    Does anyone know if there is currently a training course for the m32, I currently run one thru a few production companies but feel i could improve my navigation around the console as well as patching capabilities.

      Paul_Vannatto M32 and X32 DSP (screens, routing, etc.) are identical. So any X32 training also applies to the M32. Only the control surface (faders, knobs, etc.) preamps and physical outputs are different. Therefore any X32 training will also apply to the M32. Drew Brashler has a number of excellent tutorials on YouTube.

    I think it would be great if you could create user layouts on the console,similar to Yamaha QL series. This would be a great advantage to get control of what faders you need on one layer. For example I have a band that has many left and right mics or Di's. I would liKe to place the left on the top surface and have it control the right on the hidden bank.

      • User layouts on console
        KevinMaxwell A work around for User Layers is to use DCA spill functionality. In the latest firmware if you select a DCA it spills the contents of that DCA to the 16 channel faders to the left side of the console, this is on a full sized M32 or X32. So if you have assigned all of the channels (up to 16 of them) that you want to see (in a custom layer) to a DCA then all you need to do is hit the SEL button above the DCA and you will have the layout you want. So unless you are using all of the DCAs for other things, this can be used as a workaround for custom layers.

      Paul_Vannatto This has been requested numerous times over the many years the X32/M32 have been in production. The answer is that it is not possible due to the design limitation of the DSP. If you want custom layers, use either the M32-Edit (for Windows, Mac, linux or Raspberry Pi) or Mixing Station Pro (for iOS, android or PC).

    Hi,

    I have a Midas 32R that I'm demoing at a house of worship that is transitioning from a board that has 1/4" outputs. I did not have enough 1/4" female to XLR female adapters so I decided to use the AUX Outputs on the Midas to set up the monitor mixes.  I patched MixBus 1-5 respectively to each of the Aux Outputs 1-5 and set the tap point to PreFader + M. I can control the individual channel volume in the mix, however, I cannot control the overall mix volume. Is there are setting that I am missing?

      Paul_Vannatto Either there is a routing error or a parallel signal path. The best thing to do is to export your scene to a file, save to the cloud (eg. Google Drive, Dropbox, etc.) and provide the shareable link in your next post. That way we can have a look and better advise.

      Thanks. I factory reset the mixer. The issue was due to the tap point for the MixBus. The factory reset set the tap point for the MixBus to Post Fader. I now have Master control over the mix.

    Hi,

    Is there a way to change where the VU-metering picks of in the audio chain ?

    • BerndVanPraet
      ChaseMcKnight Hi @BerndVanPraet if you navigate to the Metering preferences ( Preferences / DSP Configuration / Metering) you have the option of changing output channel meters between Pre Fader & Post Fader.

      ok, the question I got from a tech was, the meters above the faders, are this showing PRE fader, after the whole chain of ' gain - dyn - eq - insert.

    • BerndVanPraet
      ChaseMcKnight Hi @BerndVanPraet , the surface meters above the faders default to Pre Fader for Input Channels and Post Fader for Output Channels. Yes, that's correct; it’s metering the signal post-processing but pre fader.
