I have just purchased the new BodyRez pedal, and feel the basic concept of this unit is great! My question is: Will there be user programmable updates to this pedal as TC gets more user feedback (via the toneprint jack)? I and many others feel the sound is too intense on the high end (comes across a bit strident), and that the mids are somewhat lacking in the mix. I realize much of this could be corrected by outboard EQ, but that kind of defeats the original purpose of the pedal, no? It would also be nice if the slight drop in apparent level (at full throttle) could be addressed as well.

    Thanks!

Radley Decision made. Ironically, the lack of response from TC made the decision a no brainer. I will use the piezo acoustic algorytthm in my newer GT units as that sounds much more convincing that anything I could get from the BodyRez. I believe BodyRez was a great idea, but failed in the implementation...

At the moment I'm using the global preset to use with acoustic guitar. 491 GBL- Acoustic.

I would like to set this up to use the vocal and guitar effects for Vocals and Bass - minus the harmonies as they probably wont work well with Bass without pre-programming the keys - can i set another global parameter or preset similar to the GBL Acoustic that will give me my GBL - Bass sounds across the whole unit and be able to switch up through the vocal banks to have specific vocal effects for different songs? ie: my setlist

furthermore should I be able to do this, will I still be able to later revert to my previous GBL- acoustic setup - as it was before without having to tweak the entire thing again?

Any help or forum redirects would be appreciated.

    Thanks

    John

      Hi John,

You can have as many Global Presets as you want. They are available one-at-a-time. The VL3 and VL3x have no way of assigning multiple global presets simultaneously. You can a global setting with and without harmonies and just globalize the guitar (bass) effects, steps etc, and then set your vocal effects on the actual (non-global) preset you are using for each of your songs.

I generally agree with you regarding not using the Bass input as your harmony trigger. Even more so if the bass signal has effects on it coming into the VL3/x. However, I think it's worthwhile playing around with the harmonies and bass by first turning off the Amp and Speaker Sims for the Presets you use (even the global ones) to see if you can some harmonies.

I had a similar issue with open-tunings and generally, the harmonies work, but not with some of the lower-tunings (I use an open C and Cm tunings). This might be exacerbated with the even lower notes of the bass. Depending on the song and harmonies, I've created backing tracks for the VL3x and when I'm using the VL3, I pipe-in the music with harmonies via the DAW. This gets me close enough.

I hope that answers your question.

      Mike,

thanks very much, that helps immensely. In my situation where i play bass, I have other band members who provide harmonies, I just need the different vocal effects for various songs and parts in songs. It´s good to know that I can have various GP´s. I can now have various setups for different small pa´s that I use. Thanks again for your help.

I´ve been playing music live Europe wide for over 30+ years and TC´s knowledge base and support rank as one of the friendliest, most helpful and informative I´ve came across.

      Cheers,

      John

ps: I love open C. I use it when I´m playing songs by a Scottish musician called Dougie Maclean. As a user of that tuning you may enjoy how he exclusively works with it.

Dougie is where I got the tuning from! I lived in the UK for 17 years and saw him play in a small venue in Dundee I think, around 1985, when I used to play up there with my band Atlantic Crossing. He's simply wonderful. Thank you for the reference. I'm going to go back to his music again and see what I can use.

    Hi folks,

is there a way to program the LEDs of the 10 foot switches of the FCB1010 to behave like on/off after pressing a switch two times?  By default they light up once the switch was pressed, and keep on until another switch is pressed.

Didn't find any info browsing the net and youtube.

Firmware is 2.4.x as I remember.

    Thanks for any hint!

    Best

    Tom

Hi all is it possible to programme the buttons per patch eg if i programmed the boost button to turn chorus on and off on the g force unit when i change patch could i have that patch to turn the reverb on or off with the boost button thanks in advance

DarylSoar1 No, but there are plenty of buttons on the G-System you could use for different purposes. The FX you turn on with a button will have settings specific to that patch.

Why would you want a button to do different things depending on the patch? I've read some people have banks of patches for each song on a set list.

pauldawn Thanks for the reply i just wondered if it was poss to do a stompbox mode kinda thing it doesnt really matter as there are plenty of patches just instead of having two or three patches i could like turn distortion off play with a chorus put a wha on and off and then all three on as i would be controlling the effects of the g force with the g system i can do this on the g sys alone just wondered if i could do it with both units no probs tho just make a couple of patches cheers

    • pauldawn
DarylSoar1 You could set up say 4 buttons to select each channel on your amp, then have every other button on the G-System do it's own thing. That would be very stomp boxy... but kind of against the idea of the G I'd have thought.

I have 5 basic patches. The lead patch is set up to automatically turn on the wah when I adjust the expression pedal. The G-Loops can be knocked on if I want a touch of extra OD (or phase once I get the pedal). But everything else is as per the standard layout, just specific to the patch - so patch 1 might have a big swirling chorus, patch 2 might have a phaser, and patch 3 a flanger. They're all under the same button, but very different on each patch.

What is it you're trying to achieve?

pauldawn I was just experimenting think i will use the boost button on the G as a dedicated drive on and off on the g force as i dont use the boost on the G

JohnButts Hi Felipe. I'm no techie but since I have the same amp I was curious what the problem could be.

Here's a couple of threads that may point you in the right direction. Also, as a disclaimer,

Power Amps can store lethal doses of voltage. But, this can point an experienced technician in the right direction.

Hello everyone it`s Bugera time again !!! I have a 333xl infinium (killer amp) it has EL34 JJ`s installed with not much hours of use. Well the thing is that in a rehersal the sound just fade away and the standby light started blinking, tubes were not firing up, anyway I took apart the the chasis and found a blown fuse in the F4 position but noticed that the board has a burn mark (refer to photo). After replacing the fuse the amp just started working again but after like 20 min of playing I saw a little bit of smoke coming from the amp, while the amp still on I`ve looked in the board to see were the smoke was coming but I didn`t saw anything. Few minutes after that same thign sound fade away and fuse blown. Since the led lights (tube monitoring) at the back of the amp were on for tubes 2, 3, and 4 I put 4 6L6`s from my other amp and again replaced the fuse, the amp worked fine for 30 minutes no smoke smell but I`ve noticed that the sound was the same but the gain was not the same it has less gain.

You guys think this could be a tube problem? let me add that after a thorough inspection of the board everything seems to be fine.

      Any advise?

      Thanks

Look at your schematic, the power tube plates are powered even in standby. Check for a shorted flyback diode between power tube plates and ground.

      Bingo .... D4 shorted ... Replaced w/ R2000F ... sparkling tones once more ...

FelipeGonzalez Hi John: thanks for your reply. Actually my problem is different than the ones you kindly showed me, however reading in another post here, Michael from Bugera recommended to another user to pull out the 2 outer tubes and reduce the impedance to half to check a failing tube. Since on my case is juts related to the tube in slot 1, I did it, and no more issues so far.

I don't know if I just have 3 bad tubes but since I don't want to burn another one, and knowing 120 watts is too much for me, I'm fine running with just 2 power tubes and 60 watts.

      Thanks again!

JohnButts Great idea. It bypasses the pesky power tube 1 slot and you've still got plenty of volume.

    Hey Guys.

I picked up a Mission EP1 - TC recently and have not had much luck with it.. Regardless of calibration the pedal goes from 0 to 100 percent in the first 1/2 of the travel leaving a dead spot from toe down to 1/2 way up...

I contacted Mission and they thought it may be a bad cable but I have tried several different TRS with the same results... now when I email Mission back I don't get a reply. Can anyone confirm that their Mission works properly and not like this video

    Thanks.

Yes I tried that.... 1/2 of the travel of the pot does nothing regardless of where the clutch starts so changing the position of the pot gear only made things worse...

Acshreds Yeah i had 2 EP-1 TC's but there was a ton of lag and an uneven sweep with the volume one and my expression one had lag and was hitting 100 with some space still left in the sweep of the pedal. I just got 2 ernie ball vp jr's with the 250k pots and i also bought two of the easy expression converter cable thing(even though they appear to just be black Hosa y-cables). I havent tried them out yet but im gonna re load my firmware and start from the beginning and see what i come up with.

Hi all - I'm new here. Just bought a second hand G-Nat and it is version 01-01. I wonder if it is possible (or necessary) to upgrade the unit with the following points in mind. I don't use the mic input (just plug the mic into my mixer) so basically I'm just using the unit for guitar effects and plug it via unbalanced leads into a stereo line in (it seems quiet enough). My questions (which don't seem to be covered in the manual) are as follows. What is the purpose of the flashing red light in the display - and why do I get what appear to be frequent tuning signals in the same display even with the tuner off? Also the "clear system" command doesn't seem to remove the user presets - is this normal? Finally the encoder knobs tend to jump and stagger a bit, although I soon get the settings I want - are they just old? . Just looking for someone to put my mind at rest as basically the unit sounds great - Thanks a lot from a new user - Ron (UK)

      - and why do I get what appear to be frequent tuning signals in the same display even with the tuner off?
because the tuner is never off. "Tuner mode" just mutes the signal.

Also the "clear system" command doesn't seem to remove the user presets - is this normal?
Yes - this clears the configuration parameters (level settings, footpedal calibration, etc.).

There should be a "clear bank" command that will remove all the user presets.

RolfD About the blinking, someone else here in this forum wrote this, maybe that helps little, I use this trick:

Hey everyone, if there´s still anyone who has problems with that little blinking light: I think you cant´t switch it off, but you can make it very slow:

1.Go to the MENU, select UTILITY and than FOOTSWITCH

      2. Switch from BOOST to TAP TEMPO

      3. Tap a real slow Tempo with the BOOST/TAP TEMPO button (about 30 bpm)

      4. Switch back from TAP TEMPO to BOOST

About the firmware-question: in your case, I would try to update to the latest firmware anyway, from what I know, the compressor functions then are usable in a good way.

Give yourself some time to get into the G-natural, it´s a fine thing to work with...... but it takes some patience to get into some details

      Regards

    Hello,

Firstly excuse me, I'm french and I don't speak english perfectly, I hope you will understand my question...

I want tu buy some of the TC pedals effects : T2 reverb, Helix Phaser, Viscious Vibe and the Vortex Flanger.

I have a question : does they produce STEREO effects (like the ping pong delay effect) or are just "stereo in / stereo out"

If you prefer, I want to know if these effects will create a stereo effect with my mono signal ?

Because it's hard to find a stereo flanger or phaser (I have a stereo polyphase but I'm not crazy about the sound...)

    THANKS

When I press the "save" button in the looper layer it does not light up. All the other buttons in the looper layer seem to be working and the associated physical button works for other functions, just not selecting "save" in the looper layer.

      TCH-Spencer Hey Ben,

Can I assume you're talking about VoiceLive 3? Are you on the latest firmware (366)? When you're outside of the loop layer (on the vocal or guitar screen) does the "Reverb" footswitch still work as it should?

When you're in the loop layer, saving a loop doesn't literally "light up" the footswitch, you just get a popup on the LCD screen saying that your loop is "Storing" or that you've made "No Changes".

It's not supposed to light up. But do you see the pop-up on the screen? And does it actually save or not? One thing that has happened to me on several occasions: After my VL3X has been on for some time, the pop-up will no longer show when pressing Save. But the Loop Slot is actually saved anyway, and if I turn off the unit and then back on, the pop-up will be there again as normal. I don't know why, maybe lack of processing power when too many things are going on...? :-/

First of all, this forum is awesome. Everyone is so helpful. I'm seeking some advice for my one man band setup where I play mostly acoustic - but I'd like to play some electric "sounding" songs with my acoustic. I Spoke to thie guy who does the Beat buddy demos at NAMM last week and he said that his acoustic guitar sound was eq'd with compression and overdrive in ProTools after the recording. Can this type of effect be generated realtime with VL3?

Bob, the VL3 has foot switch effects for Comp & Overdrive......that work with acoustic as well , now, depending on the pickup installed or being used (piezo or mag or combination) will give a diff. tone.....One can use a soundhole cover on your acoustic if feedback is an issue (also depends on the venue and amp / PA placement)...that is if the soundhole is free (on soundhole pickup) I use a Taylor T5 so I can switch pickup positions for either a more electric sound or more acoustic....
