    Hi,

I have a Tannoy Arena subwoofer which appears to have developed a problem. It plays very quietly and sometimes makes strange noises. I have tested the driver separately and it appears to work fine.

Is it possible to obtain a new amplifier for this model?

    Kind regards,

    Vips

Dale_M Hi Vips as this is a Spares inquiry we don't have viability of inventory, can I ask that you submit a Spares ticket via the Support tab above and the team can advise price and availability for you please?

Hi, I got a Tannoy Arena Subwoofer from a friend for repair. I managed to get the amplifier board out of the magnificent(!) box and also got the power supply out. When on there’s 7.7V between CD- and CD+. If the amp isn’t in standby I assume that should be much more.

Things would get a lot easier from here if I got a service manual or schematics. Any hint will be appreciated! Tia Eduard. Power supplyPower supply

I found them. Google for Indigo BASH 600109 to find the SMPS.

ChrisEdwards1 Hi Bascule, upon review, it appears you have a pair of DC1000 from the Series 90 range. I have included a copy of the brochure for you in the link below if this is of any help.

I'm interested in getting some Reveal 502 monitor speakers (I think anyway) however they don't seem to be available at any of the usual suspects in the USA where they use to be... Sweetwater, Guitar Center, etc.  Is there a reason for that? Are they still a current product or are they being replaced?

Nigel67 Hi, yes they are still a current product. You will need to contact Sweetwater and they will be able to give you a date when they are coming back into stock.

A couple of years ago, I bought a house that had a theater room in the basement.  The previous owner left the rear speakers installed in the wall.  I pulled one out and learned they are Tannoy iw60 efx boxes.  I found the manual online.  I'm a speaker noob.  I read the cinema mode is 4 ohms while a music mode is 8 ohms.  My receiver only goes down to 6 ohms.  So, I assume I need the speakers to be in music mode.  I have no clue how to do this.  I would appreciate any help.  Also, advice on whether these will be good rear surround speakers would be great.  Thanks!

PedroRodrigues Hi JD23 when using the Tannoy iW60 EFX I would recommend having a Amplifier Power that offers the following power and impedance 100 - 200 W @ 8 Ohms and power handling of Average 100 W; Programme 200 W; Peak 400 W so you must look for power amplifier that offers these specifications to avoid any issues. Thank you

JD23 Thank you for the reply. I am wondering how to make the speakers 4 ohms vs 8 ohms. Aside from the normal red and black pair of banana plugs, there is a green connector on the back with a place to insert 4 wires and set screws to tighten down on them. The holes are marked two with a plus and two with a minus. Does this have something to do with the resistence?

    Hi All,

I'm a lifelong Tannoy fan. This is my first post which I hope is OK, as it's about retro-kit and self build, so I'll understand if I should "take it somewhere else", as this is a bit "cheeky". Please let me know.

I built some monitors using the 8" drivers from Stratfords for my Son as a 21st birthday present (your tech support folk might enjoy the last page of the attached spoof brochure). Their sound made me miss the 15" Berkleys I gave to a friend many decades ago.

So I bought a pair of DC200's to recabinet the 10" 2558 dual concentrics to enhance the bass. But, analysis showed the Tannoy engineers had the cabinet size spot on (given my assumption on Xmax).

After more research I bought a pair of 10" 2500 passive ABR's intending to re-create the Tannoy Mayfair, but now realise their power handling was only 70W (due to larger cabinet?), and my Quad 405 with 100W may blow up the drivers..... clever eh!

Noting Tannoy have used dual porting on recent models with great success, I wonder if a kindly speaker engineer could take pity, and point me in the right direction in terms of ABR Vs single port Vs dual port design. And technically, tell me what the Xmax of the 2558 actually is, and any insights on the old Mayfair cabinet design and crossovers?

    Many thanks, Nick

I recently purchsed used 800a monitors (with matching sub) and they had some of the best imaging ever heard, but they did not last long. The Right speaker was dead in the water, when I opened it up, the LM317/LM337 transisters looked fried, so I replaced them. In the process the board started to delaminate in around the holes. I just used jumber wires to what I thought were obvious places, but now I have sound but its only static.

I would like to replace the amp with original on the one monitor or use a similar active amp to replace both speakers. I assume I would just have to match the crossover network before it splits to the amps. I really want to use these monitors again because I just got them last month. Can some please guide me a bit?

My new 402 Reveal, only used it a few times, the power light did not come on, took the fuse out and replaced with a new one, put the kettle lead in and the light stayed on for a few seconds and now it doesnt power up again.
