Hello, someone would be kind enough to explain to me how I use my VL3X with my DAW via USB or MIDI (I don't know how it really is). I have a track with a dry voice and I want to give it some effects (especially the harmony) of my VL3X.
At the moment I am using Cakewalk by Bandlab which is the same as any SONAR.
    Thanks in advance

PedroRodrigues Hi DavidDelemont Please be aware that VoiceLive 3 Extreme must be on the latest Firmware version.
If you haven’t already, please use our VoiceSupport 2 application to update your VL3 to the latest available firmware.
A USB audio connection is established through the USB-mini port in the back of your VoiceLive 3 connect that to your computer using the included USB cable, same as you would for a firmware update. User-added image. USB audio in VoiceLive 3 only supports 2 channels
This means you unfortunately cannot do crazy multitracking with simultaneous separated auxiliary, backing track, stereo vocal, and stereo guitar channels. But we have included multiple modes for different uses to make the most of these 2 channels.
There are three different input modes for VoiceLive 3 to receive USB audio from your computer, which are selectable in the Setup menu on the Input tab under the USB Mode parameter:

STEREO USB audio from your computer is received with its panning intact, as a stereo signal. Incoming USB audio competes with the backing track player (Extreme only), and levels can be edited in the VoiceLive 3's "Mix" menu. USB output back to your computer is locked to a full stereo mix (wet vocals and wet guitar together)
DAW TRACKING Incoming USB audio is stereo and one-way, as in VoiceLive 3 does not return the USB audio coming from your computer back into the computer
DAW INSERT For applying VoiceLive 3's effects to dry audio from your computer. USB audio received from your computer is expected to be panned - audio panned left will go through VoiceLive 3s vocal path, and audio panned right will go through VoiceLive 3s instrument path

There are also a couple output modes for how your VoiceLive 3 sends its audio (your vocal and guitar signals) into your computer, which are selectable in the Setup menu on the Output tab under the USB Output Mode parameter:

STEREO USB audio output to your computer is a stereo mix of wet vocals and wet guitar
SAME AS XLR The two left and right USB audio channels (1 and 2 respectively) sending to your computer mimic the two main XLR outputs from the VoiceLive 3
DRY VOX L / GUITAR R Mono dry vocals are sent to your computer on channel 1, and mono dry guitar is sent to your computer on channel 2

If you want to essentially use your VoiceLive 3 as a USB hardware plugin with your DAW, we recommend using the DAW INSERT input mode and the SAME AS XLR output mode, with the XLR Output Mode set to Dual Mono.
With this setup, audio from your DAW panned left will be fed through VoiceLive 3s vocal path and back out wet in mono to channel 1, and audio from your DAW panned right will be fed through VoiceLive 3s guitar path and back out wet in mono to channel 2.
On Windows machines, VoiceLive 3 is not compatible with ASIO drivers. We recommend using a native Windows driver like DirectSound, WaveOut, or Wasapi, which of the two gives you the lowest latency.
If your VoiceLive 3 is not showing up as a selectable audio device in your DAW, please see this page.
On Mac computers, VoiceLive 3 is class compliant and does not require additional drivers.
      Thank you

I created a Preset (call it #2) to be used as a Step 2/2 on Preset #1. (It was originally a copy of Preset #1 and I made significant Harmony and other settings to it.) I have successfully copied #2 as a step to #1 and all is well. I can also edit and save changes to Step 2/2 in Preset #1. And because I made changes to Step 2/2 in Preset #1 as I was tweaking, it is now a bit different from Preset #2. So Preset #1 with my two Steps is all set.

Here's the question: Can I safely delete Preset #2 (not that it is no longer needed) without affecting Step 2/2 in Preset #1?  I'm afraid to try! I don't want to mess up my Step 2/2 I worked so hard on....

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help.

PedroRodrigues Hi Renny Schweiger, yes you can, the factory presets are stored permanently within the device, even if you've overwritten them with custom presets. The custom presets are stored in a different location and applied "over" the factory presets when you save them.

When you delete a factory, or custom preset, leaving the space "blank" within VoiceSupport, the unit automatically re-populates that spot with the factory preset.
You can also use Mix Knob 4 to select the Preset number where the current Preset will be stored.
If you want to save the Preset where it currently is, do not change this value.
If you would like to save the Preset to another location, change “Store To” to another number.
The name of the selected Preset slot will be displayed in the upper part of the screen.
Using Store To is handy when you would like to make several Presets with similar sounds.
You can create a “master” Preset and store it so a few different locations using Store To.
You can then edit those copies further if you wish.

RennySchweiger Thanks for the reply Pedro. My apologies for not being more clear, but you missed the essence of the question. I only used the generic names Preset "#1" and "#2" to mean two presets in general. I my specific case they are both user presets, not factory presets.

RennySchweiger The question still stands -- if I create a (new user) preset (B) and copy it AS A STEP to another user preset (A), can I delete the preset (B) used for the step? Will the preset (A) now with two steps in it remain intact if I overwrite or delete the user preset (B)?

    • RennySchweiger
PedroRodrigues Hi Renny Schweiger ,please be aware that on the VL3x copying a preset, whether its to a new user preset or a step in another preset it does not retain any ties to the old preset. It does not act like an alias. So modifying the original will not change the new preset/step.

RennySchweiger Thanks Pedro, it worked. I deleted the no-longer-needed user preset and the Preset with the Step is still intact. Also FYI thsi is on my VL3 (i.e., not a VL3x).

Does the Voicelive Play provide phantom power? My mic does not work with it and it appears to be the phantom power issue. Phantom power is not mentioned in the manual anywhere.

JasonB81 Hello Clay -Within the settings of the device there is a setting to select your mic type - you will want to select the CONDENSER MIC option which will supply the phantom power needed to power the mic. You will need to hold down the setup button and scroll to the mic settings. Hope this gets you on the right track. Thank you.

    Hi All,

I'd like to program some different harmony options on my Perform VK.
E.G.: a fourth below + fourth above (Miles Davis 'So What' harmonies)

Is there any way of creating new presets?
I have Voicesupport 2 and the Perform VK Editor - but it seems these are only able to load existing presets.

Or would I need to get a different harmonizer to have these more advanced editing options.
I need a harmonizer that has the Midi notes funtion.

    Cheers,
    Chris

      Hey @chrismb,
Officially the only way to create presets for the Perform-VK is on the device itself, by modifying a stock preset or one you imported from VoiceSupport 2 or the mobile app, then you can save your modified preset back into VoiceSupport 2 as a backup.  You've probably already found this is pretty limiting though, the UI on Perform-VK only allows you to change between the pre-selected effect styles and adjust their levels.  To that end, there is a third-party solution made by VoiceLiveEditor, TC Helicon works with the creator and fully support their efforts.  You can check out a video of VoiceLiveEditor's Perform-VK editor software here, and the actual editor is available for purchase here.  Cheers!

I saw a friend's band the other week, and he had a TCH box that allowed him play his bass to whatever pitch he wanted, without physically tuning the instrument. So he was in standard tuning, but he can play a half-step lower through the box. He showed me, but now I've forgotten it. What is it?

      Hi @ChrisF ,

our  Voicelive 3 would allow you to do this using the octaver effect, but that might not be the most accurate or efficient way to pitch shift your pedal. I would check out the TC Electronic Brain Waves pitch shifter; this might be a cheaper and better sounding device if all you want is pitch shifting.

Thanis @TCH-Rob , I think I found the pedal I'm looking for, albeit from a different company.

@TCH-Rob so on the VL3X, how can I pitch shift 3 semi-tones, say, I play an F major chord but key of D is played?

      TCH-Rob

@ChrisF  you would use the "octaver' effect in the guitar section and set the "shift" parameter to the number of semitones you want to transpose your signal by. You'd also need to se the mix to 100%. Unfortunately this wouldn't sound very good; the pitch shifter in VL3 isn't great, and works best when playing single notes.

Perform V effects library - how are they created? How often are they updated? I have been using the Perform V on my main mic for karaoke singers and was considering getting another but may look for another product if the library is no longer going to be updated.

      Hi @bearaby ,

The Perform V library hasn't been updated recently and likely won't be in the near future, as we're very focused on developing new products at TC Helicon. You may be interested in something in our Voicelive Play series, as these allow one to create presets easily and quickly, which would allow you to update your catalogue yourself.

Hope this helps, let me know if you have any further questions.

I know this was covered somewhere, I just can't find it.  I am using a Line Six Helix with my TC Helicon Voice Lice Touch 2.  I don't think I want any other effects running at the same time.  Can someone please clear this up for me. Thank you

PedroRodrigues Hi Michael to be able to help you in more detail can you please state how you wish to have both unit integrating with each other ? When it comes to the VOICE LIVE TOUCH 2 you can use the Guitar THRU to output the exact same signal you have are inputting on the unit with no effects. preset

    Hi everyone,

I have a Problem and wondered if anyone else has experiences with this error. Since yesterday my VL3X starts switching into the setup menu by itself. I could not figure out what triggers it. I had an Issue with a broken Mic cable but this doesnt seem to affect it. Maybe the button is broken?

    My Setup:

VL3X, Acoustic Guitar, Condensator Mic (Neumann)

    Appreciate any help!
    Regards from Germany

PedroRodrigues Hi, burnd sneijder I would suggest a factory reset on your unit.
      Turn off your VL3X.
      Unplug headphones (if attached)
Using a toothpick or a small wire (we recommend a straightened paper clip), press the button that is inside the Headphone jack.
The button is small and at the very end of the inside of the jack. You don't need to use much force – so please be gentle.
You will feel a small click when the button presses.
With the button held down, press the power switch on your VL3X.
Wait until you see the System Maintenance Screen.
You should see the System Maintenance screen immediately. If you see the "normal" VL3X screen (without the "System Maintenance" banner on top), you haven't pushed the button inside the headphone jack correctly.
      Try again.
Choose the desired option from the menu using the Control Knob

      jte Hi Pedro,
thanks a lot for your reply! I fear I didn´t really get the purpose of your suggestion...what is it I can do in the maintenance menu? (Sorry, I don´t have my VL3X it at hand right now..)
      • September 21, 2020
    • jte
jte Ah, sorry, no I get it. Factory Reset. That means I loose all my personal presets and setup configurations I suppose. Well, I´ll try that maybe as a last option. You don´t have any guess what could cause this error? I read something about microphones that could trigger a switch to other menus...

PedroRodrigues Hi burnd sneijder, you are correct, we do have microphones that can control some features on the unit such as TC HELICON MP60 // MP75
