    G'day

have an interesting issue with my M32R Live at church. Somehow the mixbuses have ended up patched to DCA 1&2 ,also the mixbuses 1 through to 4 which i use for my foldbacks are not controlling master volume on the bus and the only way to adjust mix volume through the mixbuses is individual channel level. All this has come to pass since we upgraded the snake to a DL 16,any thoughts?

    Cheers Craig

Paul_Vannatto Hi Craig, that sounds like a routing issue. The best way to troubleshoot it is to export your scene to a file using either the Utility button on the console or using M32-Edit. Then upload that file to the cloud (Google Drive, Dropbox, etc.) and post a shareable link. That way we can have a look at your setup and better advise.

I have an M32C with a DL32 with a split snake always connected in the rack.  I had my vocalist over to play back the last gig to enhance his sounds of his IEM's because he just bought new molds.  We all run in stereo and It's weird, I all of a sudden can't get Bus 3 to respond to fader moves. I moved him to Bus 11 and it works fine.  Fader moves appear on screen but audibly makes no difference in Bus 3.  Can someone please review my attached scene to see what is possibly wrong?

We use this setup for FOH with our IEMS and also when a venue has their own PA system we use this rack with our split snake just for IEMS only.  Should I have a different scene for each use case?  Meaning a differnt pre/post settings?

If anyone sees anything else I should be doing on this scene to improve our experience it would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Danny K

Paul_Vannatto Bus 3/4 stereo pair master faders are all the way down and muted. Bus 11/12 stereo pair master faders are at -.4 and not muted. All routing is correct.

Church installation.  M32 is never moved.

Firmware version 4.04.1 installed.  Unit is approximately 2 years old.

The last three church services, two week period, the M32 has "locked up" during the 1 hour service.  The display screen goes black, the preamp mic input still shows green LEDs active indicating signal into the M32.  All other LEDs go very dim.  The output goes away with no signal to the power amp.

Unit is shut off via power switch and then turned back on.  Unit comes back on and operates normally.  Is this a software issue or hardware power supply??  Do we need to erase all the memory and reinstall software?  Getting ready to order a spare power supply.

    Please advise

    Thanks Dave

    Hi,

we use X32 to feed some P16M and some DP48. To let the drummer make his own mix (with DP48) I route some of the AES50 input channels to user-out-patch 17 to 24. In library editor AES50 page on X32 I can see the channel names (eg. kick, snare, ...) but on DP48 these names do not show. Is this by design or do I miss something?

Paul_Vannatto Are you referring to the channel names or group names? Channel names should show up in the Assign and Edit screen. If they don't, make sure the X32 firmware is up to date and if you are passing through a stagebox, make sure its firmware is also up to date. If you are referring to the group names, they can be assigned in the Library, AES50 screen in the 12 spots on the left. Once they are entered, as well as the channel assignments, then set the DP48 to slave, then broadcast to the A or B (AES50 that you have the DP48 connected to the X32).

AndreasKormann It's the channel names that are missing. The name for other channels (eg. P16 33 to 48) show up. I'm quite sure that X32, S16 and HUB4 are on latest firmware, but will check when I'm back at our rehearsal room.

Paul_Vannatto Hi Hexagon01, I would suggest that you bypass the Hub4 and see if you are getting the same thing. If not, I would suggest you update the Hub4 firmware. There were some previous firmware issues that prevented the channel data to pass to the DP48

Paul_Vannatto Hey Andreas, I just reread your post. Sources do not have channel strip data (eg. name, color). So if you assigned AES50 sources to the User Out patch, then assigned that bank of 8 to the AES50 that feeds the DP48, there will not be any channel info. Only assignments from the channel strips themselves (using the DirOut Ch assignments of the Out 1-16, P16 or Aux Out screens) will include the scribble strip info (name, color).

FYI if you do want/need a console that does provide name/color info from the sources, get a Wing.

Have a sound problem with the DP48. My Dp48 would make my solo guitar sound like Im playing under water..I discovered that the problem is with the Compressor..once it was off the sound was OK, However my drummer now has the same problem but all compression etc is off? He has to turn the guitar off in his mix? Anyone else suffer from this problem?

Sorry forgot to mention, if anyone can help please email me as I will probably never find this post again.

Nigel67 HI chadf9942. Is your Midas PRO6 still under warranty? Its 10 years from 1st Sept 2014 if you are the first owner. If so, please send in a Technical Support ticket and we will be able to help you further. This can be done by clicking on the support tab at the top of the page. A new window will open. Scroll down and click on the Technical Support tab and submit a ticket. If the PRO6 is out of warranty, then you can purchase a new power supply through our Spares team.
Please send in a spares request ticket. This can be done from the same page that the Technical Support ticket can be found, just select the Spare Parts tab instead. Many thanks

Is it plossible to save mix presets on SD Cards.  I am an audio enginner at the church that has 20+ band members that rotate in an out of the band each week.  Our church recently upgraded to a Midas M32, DL32, Hub4, and DP48 personal mixers and it would be ideal to be able to save each of their DP48 mixes to an SD card that can then be loaded on whichever DP48 unit they might be using in a given week they are volunteering.

Admittedly, I'm still getting up to speed on this system, so perhaps I have overlooked an easier solution, but welcome any insights and/or suggestions for managing this scenario.

Paul_Vannatto Hi Jeff, yes you can save mix presets to either the 12 internal memory or 12 preset files on the SD card. Press the Setup and SD Rec buttons simultaneously and a menu will come on the screen with Load, Save, Delete, Read, Write, etc.). Select the Write, then one of the 12 group buttons to save to the SD card. It will save a file in the DP48M folder, such as dp48_sd_pre_01.bin (last 2 digits will be preset number). Selecting the Read, then one of the group buttons to load the desired preset from the SD card.

If you want to have specific presets affiliated to specific musicians, I would suggest you create individual folders on a hard drive named by the musicians' names and place the appropriate preset files in them. Unfortunately the files have to be named exactly as shown above, or the DP48 will not read them.

We use iPad to connect to a M32 controler through a router. It works well for the first hour, then the connection goes on and off intermittently. if we power off then on the mixer, it works well again for another hour.

I have tried to connect to the router with an Ethernet cable and same problem. Power of and on the router doesn't solve the problem.

I think may be the network card is overheated? can anybody help?

KevinMaxwell What router are you using? does it have Energy Star power saving in it? Is that turned off?

AaronLane I had exactly the same issue when accessing via VPN. When you say you're using a router, are you routing traffic, or are you on a flat layer 2 network? We found that if it was routing between subnets or over the VPN, these issues would occur.

Hi, last weekend i had a ProX(at FOH) with Neutron at stageLeft and 3 DL231 also there. Another DL251 was at FOH but it had to be connected to the neutron, with another pair of cat5e.

If i tried to config and connect any of the three FOH aes50 on surface i only got full level of something similar to pink noise on any channel patched from dl251 and also on the talk bus.The DL251 is okay because it works if i connect it over the neutron.

In case the surface aes50 ports would work correctly, I would like to connect my FOH stagebox there and pull only 2 cat5e cables, instead of 4, from foh to stage.

    Clock was set: primary->stage ; secondary->internal;

    Surface to neutron was copper.

Is there any way to get the surface aes50 ports to work ?

Am I doing something wrong or is this a defect?

    Cheers!

Nigel67 Hi Axl666. If the PROX was set to Master clock, then it makes no difference what the Primary or Secondary are set to. They are only for when the PROX is set to Slave and you are setting up where the Main clock is being sourced from, and if that fails where the back up (secondary) is coming from. If you were getting full scale noise from the DL251, then i would say there was something wrong with its clock setting, although if all you did is add longer cables from the DL251 down to the stage then it would suggest that it was not a clock setting. Did you use different cables from connecting to surface and then stage? It could be that you had faulty cable(s). Did you notice whether the LEDs around the AES50 connections were pulsing red or green, and what was the diagnostics page showing for the DL251, red or green. If red, what was the error message. Were you using copper or fibre snakes? Do you have anything other audio coming out at the surface end? You mentioned talkback. It could be then that the fault is in one of the routers or the snakes. If you are not using the io cards in the surface, can you plug an input into them such as a cd player. Play music and then assign a couple of analogue outputs on the io cards and see if the audio is clean. This is checking that the audio is getting to the Neutron and back again without issue. If it is, plug the DL251 back in the surface and recheck it. Make sure it is showing external clock, mode 1, 96K and you haven't connected the ethernet port by accident.

      • ProX surface aes50 ports
Axl666 i used the same dl251 on long cables from neutron, it worked there. then i took 2 short cables, connected them to surface aes50 port 1 and 2 and to the dl251 and made the config. leds were are green status was green, all green in diagnostics. Surface to neutron snakes were copper. everything at the neutron end worked correctly, audio was clean. To the talkback.... so as i connected the 251 to surface no channels were patched from or to the 251, but i saw my talkback was on and also at one of the master busses the talk button was activated, this bus went full to red on meters, i listened to it and it was like pinknoise turned up to 11 as i pulled the 251 out this was gone! this proX has no IO cards installed in the 3 slots (if there was IO i wouldnt need the 251 at foh.) So there is a chance that the module with the 3 aes50 ports is faulty?!

      • ProX surface aes50 ports
Nigel67 Its a possibility that there was a fault on the surface or stage router, maybe even the short CAT5e cables. You will need to set the system up again with the DL251 connected again at the surface and do some testing / elimination as at the moment we can only theorise what the issue could be. Try plugging just one port of the DL251 up at a time and see what happens. As you have some DL231, for test purposes, plug one of those in at the surface using your long CAT5e cables and see what happens. I would suggest that you raise a Technical Support Ticket with us as it will be much easier to be able to correspond instead of using this post. This can be done by clicking on the support tab at the top of the page. A new window will open. Scroll down and click on the Technical Support tab and submit a ticket.

    Hi all -

I am working in a church and have been using the M32 for several months with generally excellent results, but have one persistent issue that I can't figure out. We are using the main LR bus for the livestream and Mix Bus 1 for FOH (which is mono). The setup is relatively simple in that we are not mixing drums or a rock band. It's generally choir, piano, vocals, sometimes a string quartet, pipe organ and the minister's mics.

The issue is that I am getting what seems to be bleed into the Main LR bus from Mix Bus 1. Example: vocalist on channel 17 using a wireless mic. Without sending that channel to the Mix Bus everything works fine and the fader conpletely controls the signal. But when I also the send that same channel to the Mix Bus, with the channel fader all the way down I still hear signal from that mic in the Main LR bus. When I stop sending the channel to Mix Bus 1, the "bleed" signal in the Main bus goes away. The amount of the "bleed" signal is not insignificant and affects our ability to balance the livestream mix - during a live service recently we had to pull one vocalist's fader completely out of the Main mix to get the right balance - at that point all of his signal was coming only from the apparent "bleed" signal.

I have checked and re-checked the routing and neither the channels nor Mix Bus 1 are being sent anywhere else that I can find. The only outs we are sending are Main LR bus, Mix Bus 1 and one Matrix send going to another part of the church. We are not using any FX - the room has a great natural reverb so we are just blending in room sound with OH mics (which are not being sent to Mix Bus 1). I have also checked and re-checked what is being sent to Mix Bus 1, but I get the same result even using just 1 mic with everything else muted.

I would greatly appreciate any thoughts/help with this!

    Thanks, TC

Paul_Vannatto What you describe is a parallel signal path issue. What I would suggest is to export the scene to a file (either using the Utility button on the X32 and save to a USB stick, or use X32-Edit), save it to the cloud (eg. Google Drive, Dropbox, etc.) and provide the shareable link in your next post. We can have a look at it (using X32-Edit) and better advise.

Paul_Vannatto One question, is there a particular reason why you have the livestream being fed by Main LR and FOH by a mixbus? To me that is backwards. My church also does livestream and FOH on the same console. Mixbus 9/10 (stereo pair) feeds the livestream.

Thanks Paul - will do. We set it up with the mixbus as FOH because (1) it’s only a mono PA and (2) when we set up the M32 we were in Covid and the livestream was the only thing happening. We now have one person controlling FOH with an iPad in the room and one person in the booth mixing the livestream. The livestream remains very important - about one-third of members are coming back in person now but the livestream audience is substantial. Will let you know when I post the scene - much appreciated!
