    CALLING ALL FLASHBACK 2 USERS!

Thanks to your extensive feedback, we have developed a new firmware update for the Flashback 2 and we are NOW SEARCHING FOR BETA TESTERS!

The update gives users the option of having TAP TEMPO as the secondary footswitch function and true stereo input instead of MASH.

After updating to firmware V1.2.00, you can toggle between MASH and TAP TEMPO as a global setting for your Flashback 2 in the TonePrint App.

Press and hold the footswitch for 1.5 seconds to activate TAP TEMPO control (power LED turns green), then tap the footswitch in sync with your desired tempo to adjust delay times accordingly.

When TAP TEMPO is selected from the TonePrint App the MASH LED will constantly flash to display 1/4 note tempo of the delays, even when the pedal is turned off so you can always tell if you're on time.

The firmware update also fixes a small bug regarding stereo summing in buffered bypass mode when using stereo output.

If you own a Flashback 2 and you'd like to help us beta test firmware V1.2.00, please contact us :

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi all, 1.2.00 firmware is now officially released and can be downloaded on the TC website:
    https://www.tcelectronic.com/Categories/Tcelectronic/Guitar/Stompboxes/FLASHBACK-2-DELAY/p/P0CKR/Downloads#googtrans(en|en)

Thanks for all the help and feedback. With best regards,  Mike  TC electronic

This is how you disable MASH switch to activate the TAP tempo feature on the new 1.2.00 firmware:

      • Connect you Fb2 pedal to your computer or mobile device

      • Start the Toneprint app

      • Select the Flashback 2 in the Templates view:
        flashback 2 beta disable mash1.PNG

      • Select any template from the list and click on the pencil icon to edit it
        fb2 diable mash 2.PNG

      • click on the Product Settings tab and then on the MASH switch lever as seen in the screenshot

      • fb2 product settings.PNG

      • you have now disabled MASH switch functionality and the MASH LED should no blink and indicate the current delay time

      • the setting is remmebered until you enable  MASH again

I own a TC Electronic Nova Delay and love the hold tap tempo feature where you can hold down the tap tempo button, play a rhythm and the pedal listens to the tempo you play and matches it. Will that feature be available on the Flashback 2?

Hi TC-James,...Just read about the FB2 firmware update that enables tap tempo in lieu of MASH.  That's a great trade-off in my book, and I'd really like to be included in the beta-testing on this new firmware.  What's the proceedure for getting involved?  Thanks!

    Hi guy

I just got my plethora X5 today. I have a feeling I have got it early than supposed to but I am just wondering how do we know the unit is on the latest firwmare version and where are firmware updates done. Are they done via the app or do we need to download the firmware under thep product support and update using the toneprint editor? I do not see any firmware on the support site so I am just wondering as I want to make sure I am on the newest version

    Thanks

Glad to see another early owner - feel rather lonely doesnt it! I got mine yesterday and was wondring the exact same thing - from looking on the message boards today it seems that current firmware and next 1.1 is due next week.

How are you finding it so far ? Im thinking of returning mine as cant get on board (pardon the pun ) with having to use the app to do the majority of editing/stuff

      Hi!

I got mine today and I really like it so far... I saw in their Q&A video that a tuner has been added but I can't activate that so I'm guessing I'm on an older firmware. I can see tha firmware version in the app but do I need to connect to the computer to update via usb?

Hi received my device today as well. Would be great to have some advice on the tuner issue. I don't know how to activate it. And hard to believe... is there really no full manual available? I can only find a "quick start guide". So far I'm not as exited as I expected. And there is no Phaser-effect?

      Hi!
I've received mine today! Very excited but… it freezes all the time and I can't even switch between pedals ¿has anyone the same problem? I'm hoping it's a software issue. However, there's no firmware update anywhere.
I'm about to return it ?

So i have tried to submit a tickit and of course ( like many others i see) it didnt go through.I have tried to connect my FB2 to 2 different computers, a Mac Pro on 10.13.6 and a windows 10 PC and neither recognise the pedal. I am using a brand new cable from the box as well as a brand new cable from the Hall Of Fame 2 box to no avail. I have always just beamed toneprints to the pedal but cannot use the editor. I confirmed the latest firmware. Please help. This costumer service really has me second guessing my Begringer Poly D purchase i am about to make.......

      Hi there,

I understand your frustration. Just to check a couple of things to get us started ... have you downloaded the latest version of the TonePrint Editor to your Mac and/or PC? The latest version is from last month, so fairly recent: https://www.tcelectronic.com/Categories/Tcelectronic/Guitar/Apps/TONEPRINT-EDITOR/p/P0CLC/Downloads#googtrans(en|en)

      Hi Brian,

OK. There's a few idiosyncracies with regards to the order in which you connect and start things. Please try this:

      - The pedal needs to be connected first via USB cable, before opening the app. Then open the app and it should ask you to select a TonePrint slot. On doing this the app should then recognize the pedal. If that doesn't work it'll usually help to reboot the computer or startting the process from the beginning.

So, while waiting on the Plethora X5 to reach the States I've been trying to learn about it and help other users on the boards here. One thing I've seen a lot are questions regarding how to connect it, can I do X with it, how do I put this pedal here in the chain, and so on. So, I thought it would be a fun and helpful exercise to share your Plethora X5 setups, signal chains, midi control setups and exeriences so that we can help one another find great and possibly new setup options utilizing the new hardware.

For me, I ended up selling several pedals and building a new (and much needed) pedalboard to prepare for the Plethora. I am replacing a Whammy-style pedal near the front of my chain, as well as my Hall of Fame 2, Flashback 2 and chorus pedals in the FX loop.

Since I need the Plethora effects both before and after the amp and I'm integrating drives after the Plethora front end effects, I'm going with what I'd call the modified 4 cable method. Several people have asked about the ability to do this, so I'll outline it here.

Guitar --> Tuner --> Boost/Low gain drive --> Plethora mono input
Plethora Insert Send --> Overdrive/Distortion/Fuzz pedals --> Amp input
Amp FX send --> Plethora Insert Return
Plethora Output --> Amp FX return (plus Amp 2 input if stereo)

This setup allows a lot of versatility. You can put the Plethora loop anywhere in the chain, meaning I can put all of my Plethora effects in front of the amp, all of them in the FX loop, or any combination in between. I just have to move the insert location in the pedal order.

Now, there is one caveat to this setup, and that's you can't use the Plethora insert as a switchable "pedal." It has to be used as always on. If you switch it off you kill the signal to your amp. It's also key to know that any effects used prior to the insert loop will be summed to mono, so if you need stereo output, keep those effects after the insert return in your chain.

In this setup my main application is to have the same function of my pitch shifter up front and the chorus, delay, reverb and other modulation in the amp FX loop. But what this adds is the ability to integrate the other TC pedals I've wanted to try, like the Mimiq and Quintessence. I'm also interested int he Sentry to quiet down my fuzz pedal noise. And with this setup I can use those and place them anywhere in the chain easily for testing and tweaking.

So, what are your setups? What have you found that works great? Any best practices?

@TouringBubble hey Man I am building my first pedalboard to be used with a wah, whammy and a pair of overdrives into my Marshall JVM amp. I really have my eyes on the Plethora X5 but I have a question, I've only used my amp with a boss od in front (sounds great) and i also tried my Headrush pedalboard just for fx with the 4 cable method. The Headrush Is not true bypass so the sound I enjoy so much from my amp with just the boss od in front Is not as good as when I use the Headrush with the 4cm. Am I going to have the same scenario with the Plethora or it Will not mess my amp Tone?

      TouringBubble

@Manu2004 That's not a simple question, sadly, but let me see if I can help.

First, I don't think true bypass is the issue here. Your Boss pedal isn't true bypass, so the Headrush not being true bypass shouldn't matter.

The main difference between the Headrush and the Plethora is that the Plethora isn't an amp modeler and the Headrush is. This means that the Plethora is designed to be used like a row of 5 TC pedals in front of an amp, and not as a replacement for your amp. It has cab simulation and can do this, but it's not the primary function as designed as far as I can tell.

Chances are that you were using the amp modeling in the Headrush which heavily colored the sound of your amplifier. I've found this with multieffects I've used in the past. It's a learning curve for sure.

@TouringBubble thank you for the response! I disabled the amo and cab sim on the Headrush, i was most a matter of feel, the guitar felt different while running the Headrush in 4cm than just the guitar in front of the amp. It feels like a small (very small) latency.

      Anyway I appreciate your help.

I'm pretty confused by your modified 4 cable method. I haven't received my plethora but this is how I was planning to set it up.

Bass->DB Compressor->DB booster->DG Alpha Omega into the front of the amp. Then connect my amps stereo effects loop send into both stereo inputs in plethora, and return both outputs into my amp.

I would not really need anything in the plethora infront of the Amp maybe just the noise gate, and I don't think I need any of my DG pedals in my effects loop, although I would like to split my stereo signal dry / wet-dry if somehow. Am I missing out by not using the effect loop in the plethora? Is it possible to put a pedal in the plethora effects loop that I could select to only go to cab? Or one said of the stereo? I'm sorry effect loops are very new to me THANKS!

I have tried 2 setups  ..... both working with help from Matt
1: Plethora in the loop ..... everything in the loop and no possibility to get some effects from the Plethora in front of the amp.
2: Plethora with the 4 cable method ..... you can define with the FXloop insert from the Plethora where the split is ..... which effect in front and which in the loop

I have some effect in front of my amp ..... a Preamp valve distortion pedal (Victory Kraken) connected to the amp with the 4 cable method ...... the Plethora also connected with the 4CM so i can choose which effect goes in front or in the loop.
In the Plethora i have a Noise Gate in front ......  Flanger, Chorus, Delay with footswitch for delay time and Reverb in the loop  (Soft FX loop insert from the X5 btween 1 & 2)

    Hello,

very excited about the newcomer Plethora X5. It seems a great and somewhat portable pedalboard.

    A couple of questions:

    • I'm used to work on "preset" based or "patch" based effects - meaning at a click of a button I can turn on and off some effects - can I achive similar funcionality implementing "Boards"?
    • Can I change boards (up and down) using the MASH buttons?
    • Also how quick is the transition between boards? Will I notice any lag?
    • Does it have any kind of "boost" pedal that can be thrown in the board?

    Many thanks in advance!

      Hi Gilmourstrat,

      • Plethora's 5 fx slots, et you bypass/unbypass  individual pedals or the insert loop just like a real pedal board

      • triple clicking the first 2 footswitches lets you toggle boards up and down or you can use midi prg changes to load them

      • yes, changing board is not seamless,as 5 Fx and hundreds of parameters are initialised, so there is a short mute to prevent clicks for smooth transition

      • Plethora X5 doesn't have a Boost pedal included, but you can integrate one via the insert loop (loop can be set to be in front of the board, at the end or anywhere in between

      Best regards,

      Mike

      A quick question @TC-Mike :

Is the Plethora a "pure Tone print unit" or can I make my own effect programming as if it was the real pedal? Meaning can I build my own parameters or just use/adjust what's on the Tone Print?

      Many thanks!!

Yes, you can completly customize and program the individual toneprint pedals in the toneprint app, just like the pedall counter parts . Only difference is, that you have only 3 instead of 4  potmeters per Fx slot/Toneprint pedal to program, but all p3 otmeter functions are programmable, + you gain MASH switch + Expression pedal as additional parameter modifiers that can be programmed for each slot. Expression pedal can control parameters across several pedals, so you can program crossddfades between blocks of pedals. You program your toneprints in the app while monitoring all settings in realtime + you can use the potmeters to control parameters and touchscreen of your ipad or android tablet. Next firmware update, gets a board manager and tuner and trhen we add more Fx...

I was looking for way of contact with TC to share with You my opinion and few ideas on Plethora. Only working way I found is here. So, I felt in love with Plethora since first video of it. I used to be against guitar multi effects but idea of five separate effects with their own footswitches, luck of complicated routing, multiple cab and amp sims are what I expect from multi effect. Very clear displays, intuitive handling and many effects to choose from with Toneprint technology are big advantages. Technical feedback. I've got two (actually three) problems when using Plethora: 1. Tremolo - on few toneprints, especially with faster settings tremolo is changing speed randomly. It spins with set speed then speeds up for a second, gets back to set speed, speeds up again for half of second, gets back, and so on. I've done update, because I've read that it was reported earlier, but it still happens. 2. Changing boards - when I switch pedalboards and hold a note or a chord, volume rises up and lowers when next board ends loading. It's a bit disturbing because volume increase during the change is quite big. Also volume is higher when I switch on my rig and Plethora is loading. When it is ready to use overall volume is lower. 3. There is one more small thing. When I change boards with lever switch there could be a bit more time to decide which board I'd like to choose. In other words: When i switch board up, number appears on display, I read it's name and decide to change for next board, but it's too late and board starts to loading. I have to wait for loading to be ended and change to next board. That time when number and name of next board is being displayed could be a bit longer. Quick changing boards by pressing lever quickly is possible. I also found few things which in my opinion could be improved: 1. List of toneprints - I've uploaded to plethora some artist toneprints from app and created few mine. List of toneprints became a bit messy. I think that the list could be divided in sections: templates, user toneprints, stock toneprints, artist toneprints. Categories could be divided with line like between templates and stock toneprints. 2. Toneprint label - when I use stock toneprint in play mode there is label on display: TC ELECTRONIC, when it's my own toneprint there is: LOCAL USER. When I use artist toneptint there is also TC ELECTRONIC label. It would be helpful when there will be label ARTIST or artist name will appear. 3. Empty slot after deleting pedalboard - for example: I have 25 pedalboards. When I delete number 22 this slot remains empty. Then when I create new one it gets number 22. For me it would be nice to shift boards numbers after deleting one in the middle and giving last number for newly created. I know that it could be unuseful for other users, so it could be an option in settings menu like: Delete board: shift numbers/remain empty. 4. Deleting tone prints - It's more a question than an idea. Is it possible to deleted toneprint loaded to Plethora? For example: I've created toneprint and I don't need it anymore. Can I delete it from toneprints list in Plethora? I couldn't find that in app. According to FAQs in video (YouTube one with Scotty & Anders) I'm also waiting for phaser. I think it's must-have in such a device. It also would be grate to have Alter ago toneprints in Plethora! Now I have to save some money and buy drive pedal to complete my rig 'cause I sold almost all my pedals to purchase Plethora. Maybe I should try MojoMojo? :) Sorry for long post - it was supposed to be a mail :) I would be very happy if you find my feedback helpful.

      TC-Mike Hi DHPasta,

welcome onboard and thanks for the great feedback. Much appreciated . Glad to hear you like our new Plethora :-)

We monitor this community closely for fproduct eedback and there is also a feature request post here in the TC Electronic brand tribe /Guitar & Bass forum where you can add your ideas or upvote existing feature requests
      from other users:

You can also always send product feedback, ideas and questions to our CARE team using the "Support" tab at the top of the page or simply send me a PM…

Latter is currently not possible unfortunately due to the transition to the new community structure, but the team is working on it.

Regarding your issue with the tremolo changing, this is due to the Toneprint/setting you are using having the “TEMPO/BAR” feature active, which allows you to specify up to 4 tempo subdivision
that are cycled through for the duration of a bar. This can be very useful when combined with the tap tempo feature that you can activate via SETTINGS/BOARDS/2NDARY FOTSWITCH FUNTION.

In order to disable it on a particular toneprint you like, edit the toneprint via the app by disabling all tempo bar fields except the first one.

P.s. alternatively you can assign the Subdivision that the toneprint uses also to the MASH switch or a connected expression pedal , so you can easily change tempos while always staying in sync with the tapped tempo. Typically you set Mash default to quarter notes,
so the speed always snaps back to your basic tempo when footswitch is released after mashing . If you just want to switch to eg .8th or 16th notes, set all other curve points to same value.

In order to delete a Toneprint stored in PLETHORA’s on-board library, select the toneprint you wan to delete in EDIT mode and then press and hold the TONEPRINT push encoder to get the “DELETE” option.
Press push encoder again to confirm and execute. All on-board toneprints are also available as template via the app, so you can either start off fresh and build your own library from scratch or just edit the available
Toneprints via the app and store them in your user library for later use and using the STORE TO PEDAL option you update the edited toneprint on the PLETHORA.

I logged your feedback regarding memory location behavior when deleting board as a feature request. You can use the board organizer of the app to rename boards and change order too.

The Helix Phaser, Viscous Vibe + a Looper will be available with the 1.2 firmware update scheduled for later this summer…

What would be your top 3 feature requests for the 1.3 update?

Best regards from the TC guitar team

dhpasta Thank you very much for quick answer Mike! I'm happy that you've found my opinion helpful.
Thanks for solutions - I will mess with tremolo later on
It's nice to hear that Helix Phaser will come in firmware 1.2! What would be my requests for 1.3? For sure it would be Alter Ago tonprints. I'm very curious about it and it would be good companion for phaser in more vintage tones. Secondly those cosmetic updates I've mentioned above - divided toneprints list, artist labels on effects and maybe active pedalboard number (or shorten name) visible somewhere on display. The third one - filter effect. That would fill list of effects. Kind of LPF, envelope, equalization. With companion of expression pedal that could be use as wah-wah. Also equalizer with toneprints powers could be mighty tool! Ane the forth, becasue it argues with idea of "drive of your choice" it could be booster with some eq possibilities. It could be useful for people (like me) using Plethora in 4CM with drive from amp. But I know it could be done with some addition pedal.

      TC-Mike Cheers, noted.
As for the booster, you can currently also re-function your Pipeline Tremolo as a dynamic boost. Since it can boost output level by up to 9 dB, just assign output level to MASH switch and set Modulation depth to 0% , so you don't get the tremolo. If you don't want a gradual boost, just set all curve points to the same boost value
Hyper gravity with its 3 bands can also be used to adjust the colour of your signal by using it as a dynamic EQ mapping the gain parameters of the 3 bands to the potmeters.. Try the dynaQ template as a starting point and adjust the boost/cut levels in the app to taste. You can set the X-over frequencies of the 3-bands too.

OK, since I feel it is time-consuming to go through all the different posts to get an overview of all the existing feature requests for the PX5, I decided to create a comprehensive list here.

So, what I did is go through all the PX5 feature request posts that currently exist (at least all I noticed) and put all those requests in here. Where there were multiple requests, I added votes to the existing ones (1 vote = original request, 2 votes = original request + one endorser).

If you have additional requests you can't find in this list, just add one in a comment below and I will try to keep track and manage the list in the original post. Same goes if you want to endorse an existing feature, just add a +1 comment. This would give everybody a better overview of where the community priorities are.

    TOP 10

    1. Add Looper

    2. Add Helix Phaser Effect

      Hello,

Based on my first usage I would have the main following requests:

      • Possibility to use a pedal without assigning a slot. Mainly for the noise gate which is always engaged for me.

      • keep artist tuning when selecting toneprint (not with the current knob position)

      • Add Looper

      • Add EQ Pedal

      • add a Wahwah pedal (with expression)

      Hi,

      super list!

it would also be nice to be able to save the boards on your PC, a back-up...

and to have the option to chose for each slot parallel or serie.so we can decide if we want an effect to influence the next or not ...you could have slot 1&2 with the loop with distortion and 3.4&5 with a delay with a clean tone...

      Thanks

Hi, great idea! First of all, I really love my Plethora, a great and very intuitive platform. Here is my wishlist ?

      - Helix Phaser and Viscous Vibe are number one on the list

      - Use of the 3 knobs in play mode for on the fly adjustments

      - Add the T2 and the Dreamscape which are part of the TonePrint familly

      - Add the possibility to use the "4th knob" without using toneprint app (tone on the Corona or Sub2 on the Sub n' up)

      - Add digital Drive, Disto and Fuzz for light travellers (like the cab sim) and just in case

      - Add the missing Toneprints : there are some toneprints available for individual stomps that are not for Plethora

      Stay healthy,

      Ben

Guys, it's over two months since you launched the Ditto Plus and there is still no user manual, just a minimal Quick Start Guide that doesn't contain much information. We need a proper manual, not least because Extended mode seems to be tricky.

I am still trying to find out how to get the Ditto+ to do what I want in Extended mode.

    • On Loop 1 you have to press the footswitch exactly at the start and exactly at the end of the loop which is the normal way of working with loopers, no problem here. But after that things get complicated.
    • On Loop 2 you apparently have to press the footswitch before the end of the current Loop 1 to arm the Ditto+ to start recording Loop 2 the next time Loop 1 restarts, and you apparently have to press the footswitch before the end of the current Loop 1 to prepare the Ditto+ stop recording Loop 2 the next time Loop 1 restarts.
    • Recording an overdub seems to work differently: you still have to press the footswitch to punch in before the end of the current loop but then you have to press again after the end of the current loop to punch out, otherwise you get signal dropout.

This is my guess after failing many, many times to make Extended mode work the way it should. At one stage I was going to send the Ditto+ back for a refund. Am I right -- is Extended mode supposed to work this way? Can we have a user manual please? The functionality of the footswitch in Extended mode is not intuitive, and as a minimum it needs to be explained properly in a user manual.

      MartyJ Hi Dale
Yes, I have a Ditto Plus. I updated the firmware to version 1.0.14 on September 13 as soon as it was released on TC's website https://www.tcelectronic.com/product.html?modelCode=P0DLQ.

Dale_M thnak you for confirming On Loop 2 you apparently have to press the footswitch before the end of the current Loop 1 to arm the Ditto+ to start recording Loop 2 the next time Loop 1 restarts, and you apparently have to press the footswitch before the end of the current Loop 1 to prepare the Ditto+ stop recording Loop 2 the next time Loop 1 restarts.

wrong. there is no puch in or arming an overdub recording... there is a difference between normal overdub and xtended overdub:

When xtend mode is selected and you actually xtend the base loop with an overdub recording that has x times the length of base loop , we have an assistant function called" queued overdub" where you CAN( not required) press the foot-switch to STOP the xtended overdub recording before the end of the latest xtend cycle and then it will continue to record to the end of the file and then auto-stop the overdub recording (not playback!) that is all this is not a punch in or Out or arm function, but simply a help to make sure the last overdub recording stop at the correct cycle length (multiple of recorded base loop)

Again, you cannot arm the DItto + to auto start an overdub recording (the REC/PLAY/OD mode is fixed! and we don't have a REC/OD/PLAY mode like x2 or ditto X4 have)

      • Ditto+ Extended mode footswitch functionality
        MartyJ Hi Dale

Thanks for replying. I have just tried ten times to loop in Extended mode doing what you describe and got ten failures. Here's what happens:

        - Laying down Loop 1 (one bar of percussion on an acoustic guitar body) is no problem. Starting and stopping recording works as it should.

        - Laying down Loop 2 (which I want to be four bars of chords) is a different story. Starting recording works fine, but when I try to stop recording Loop 2 the Ditto+ consistently waits for one more round of Loop 1 before it stops recording. I end up with five bars in Loop 2, which destroys my song structure. If I was playing a gig this would be a disaster.

        - I can't comment on how overdubbing over Loop 2 works -- I didn't get that far this time because of the above problem.

I don't think that the problem is my footwork, I think it's the Ditto+. I currently own Digitech JamMan Stereo, Digitech Trio Plus, Xvive D3 Duet and Boss RC-300 loopers and I haven't had this kind of problem with any of those (admittedly the RC-300 is the only one that has a feature similar to the Ditto+ Extended mode where you can lay a longer loop over a shorter one and keep the loops synchronized).

I downloaded the firmware from the TC website and updated the Ditto+ again just in case it had got corrupted the first time I updated it, but this did not help.

The Ditto+ seems like a good concept with good sound quality at a reasonable price, but Extended mode is still not working right despite the firmware update, and Extended mode is the whole reason I bought the Ditto+.

I'm interested to hear what your developers say. I'm also interested to see what other customers have to say when they start taking delivery of the Ditto+. I don't think I'm going to be the only person who has this problem.

      • Ditto+ Extended mode footswitch functionality
        MartyJ Hi again Dale

I have now tried overdubbing on top of Loop 2. I am getting a dropout at the beginning of overdubs just like the dropout that Pete Honore was getting in the Andertons video. The difference is that Pete was getting the dropout at the beginning of Loop 2 whereas I am getting the dropout at the beginning of overdubs over the top of Loop 2.

Dale_M Sorry for the delay, it might be just pressing the footswitch too late on your overdub recording in x-tend mode instead of using our "auto-queue" feature, so the pedal adds another Xtend round.

the explanation of x-tend mode is here -is this the video you are talking about?:
      https://youtu.be/UpBjF9uXFck?t=140" target="_blank" title="https://youtu.be/UpBjF9uXFck?t=140" target="_blank" title="https://youtu.be/UpBjF9uXFck?t=140">https://youtu.be/UpBjF9uXFck?t=140">https://youtu.be/UpBjF9uXFck?t=140">https://youtu.be/UpBjF9uXFck?t=140

To confirm correct functionality of pedal with latest 1.0.14 firmware when using Xtend mode, you could try the following:

set ditto Plus to xtend mode
record a 2 bar loop (once you are happy with it keep it in playback and prepare for Xtended Ovedub recording)
start X-tended Overdub recording on one of the next loop cycles by pressing the foot switch right after loop start (pedal LED blinks at loop start to indicate loop wrap around)
record an 8 bar overdub -> once you pass the 2 bar length of Loop 1 you should notice the first loop repeating while the recording counter moves on, extending the overall loop length as long as you continue to record your overdub
now comes the critical part and what i think might happen in your scenario is that you stop the overdub recording a little too late on the "1" of the next bar, so the pedal thinks you want to xtend further and adds another length of the first 2 bars.

Try instead to use our "auto queue" feature to help you stop OD recording precisely at end of the current xtended overdub recording cycle by just pressing the foot switch after bar 7 but before the end of the 8th bar and note that the OD recording won't stop but will continue recording until the very end of the 8 bars and then auto switches to playback without adding an extra cycle length of your base loop .

      • Ditto+ Extended mode footswitch functionality
        MartyJ Hi Dale

Many thanks for trying to help. I had considered the possibility that I was hitting the footswitch too late to stop recording Loop 2, but I consistently record Loop 1 in time and I don't have problems hitting footswitches in time on any other loopers. The 'auto queue' feature will solve my problem stopping recording Loop 2 if I can train myself to hit the footswitch before the end of the last bar that I am recording in Loop 2, so I'm just going to have to practise doing that.

I am still getting dropout at the start of overdubs that I lay over the top of Loop 2, though. Perhaps starting recording the overdub early (before the '1' beat of Loop 2). will eliminate this problem.

For years I have been used to just pressing a footswitch on the '1' beat to start and stop recording loops. The Ditto+ does not to want to co-operate when I work this way, or perhaps it is just less forgiving than other loopers if you are a few microseconds out of time. I'll keep practising and see if I can get better results. And I'll wait to see how other users get on with the Ditto+ when it starts reaching the shops in greater quantities.

shutch011 Hi Marty, has there been any movement on this? I just got a ditto+ looper yesterday, and only got a chance to play with it today. The extend mode does not work at all for me. If i record loop 1 of 1 bar percussion, and then try to play over the top of it via loop 2 I am just stuck with 1 bar and it all gets messy really quickly.
Also adding backing tracks don't seem to work, I get nothing but static when I try to play one.

Am I the only one that is being driven insane by this pedal and software. I love TC Electronics gear but this so far feels like it is still in Beta. Here are my experiences so far.

    • The pedal occasionally decides to reboot over and over again and then only gives me the option to delete a board, reset to factory default or continue. Continue just reboots and delete a board or factory reset gets the pedal working again.
    • The App struggles to connect over USB and locks up constantly.
    • There is no way that I can find to save boards for backup purposes.
    • The Artist Toneprints seem to do nothing when you browse through them. It seems that you need to know the exact setting of the knobs before you can hear what they created. From the videos I watched most artists set the unit to all 50 (12 o'clock) which gave their settings. This does not seem to be the case in Plethora.
    • Is there a way to delete or remove Toneprints from the Plethora, so that I can only have my favorites on there to scroll through.
    • The three knobs on top should allow you to tweak some settings on the fly and be temporary in play mode.
    • When you go in edit mode there seems to be no way to try some changes but then decide to not save them and revert back to original. Your only option seems to be to go back in play mode and you are stuck with the changes.

Some of this could be user error and I am happy to be informed of my mistakes. Otherwise, I am hoping that everything can be fixed soon. As of right now every time I get the desire to sit down and work on my effects and tone I end up giving up in frustration and having wasted hours achieving nothing.

Hi there. I'm not eperiencing any of the lock ups and reboots. So it might be a case of sending your machine back. It's worked perfectly so far.

but totally agree on the software. The TonePrint editor might be a good TonePrint editor but it's not a very good X5 editor. I want to organise what's on the X5 from the editor, at the moment it's all a bit of a mystery, just simple things like reorder the pedals and load up desktops from the editor would be good.

also totally agree on the artist ones. I want t load my own ones. I am thoroughly enjoying using the pedals though and think it's going to be great.
