Hi all,
I've just returned from two weeks of touring using the Perform-VK and I'm not very happy with it. We used Ableton Live to send MIDI CC via USB to change settings on the fly, which worked well. But, even though we were sending MIDI Clock/Tempo, the Echo/Delay time was never on time. No idea why this was the case.
Also, we were sending MIDI notes via Ableton Live to use Harmony as pitch correction, but we had trouble with the Harmonies sounding weird and gravely at times, and dropping out at other times. It felt like there was a gate on harmonies.
So after being unsatisfied with the VK I'm wondering—is the VoiceLive Touch 2 is better? We'd like to send MIDI notes and CC via USB.
Hi @Jona ,
In many ways the Voicelive Touch 2 is better than the Perform VK. It has far more effects and parameters which you can edit, and you'll find it far easier to troubleshoot issues like delay timing and harmony weirdness with its screen. I'd say it's the all-around better choice!
Hope this helps
ive been using a voice live rack for a quite a few years works and sounds great but due to down sizing on my equipment for some of the tiny room gigs i do, i dicided to try the perform VK ,and it lasted an hour before it was packed back up and returned, it was shocking , since ordered the voicelive touch 2 just hoping thats going to be better sound wise
question for you Jona, are you using a keyboard ,midi files or audio files for your music
Hello-
I am considering the VL3 Extreme Rack and have several questions.
Looking for a MIDI controller that has a built in volume pedal that can be mapped to parameters like delay level and anything else I’d like to adjust in real-time.
Trying to incorporate the looping functions, I know they aren’t supported by MIDI but wondering if the proprietary switch can be connected to a MIDI foot pedal in the same way that an amp channel switch pedal can used. Sometimes hard switches like this can be included in a MIDI preset.
What are the best options for controllers? Looking at the Roland and Behringer.
Thank you!
I guess there is only one rack version?
Ok.
MIDI info doesn’t show anything about mapping that I can see. I would like to have my guitar pre on the same MIDI cable with some presets able to change a vocal effect without changing guitar and vice versa.
Just looking for a foot controller for live playing.
The Behringer looks good.
Can I program mapping there?
Can I run a 1/4” cable from the Behringer to the foot switch in on the rack and access the looper or should I just add the TC 3 or 5 button switch to my set-up?
as for the Behringer FCB 1010 i recommend you get in touch with a Behringer product specialist for in depth information
I work in TCe Guitar R&D and don't know the product in depth unfortunately
There is a free editor available, so seting up the buttons and switches on the FCB 1010 seems quite comfortable.

there is also the famous UNO upgrade available to expand the FCB's functionality:
https://www.fcb1010.eu/ (third party alternative OS for fcb1010)
you can configure buttons /switches to send Prg change or continous Midi CCs (with upper and lower value limit)
More infos on the FCB 1010 features can be found in the product manual:

Best regards,
Mike
Thank you so much.
Just to be clear, my ONLY rack mount option is the old one?
No chance of any new release?
I bought my first Voicelive 3 Extreme about 4 months ago and noticed everytime I plug my Guitar output (Dual Mono) to my amp a loud Hum/Whine noise comming from the amp. When I plug my VL to my pedalboard, cause of the longer path, it obviously goes louder and make it impossible to use it live. The noise doesn't seems to appear on the mic output. I have tried almost everything (ground, better isolation, new power supply) but didn't seems to fix it. Do you think it is the hardware defecting? Or an update of the firmware could potentially fix it?
If anyone know what it is or could help me because I cannot wait to incorporate it to my set up...
Thanks
Hey @polm,
If you get in contact with our support team they'll be able to help you troubleshoot this further. I can say we've never experienced that here, so I don't think it's firmware but rather something with your actual setup. Feel free to share your entire signal path and others could help you out here too. Cheers!
Hi. Just bought the C1 voicetone pedal. Red light keeps going off and on and the effect keeps turning itself off and on. Do I have a faulty pedal?
Hey @deanzey,
Please ensure that the "Mic Control" button on the side of the pedal is turned off (pressed out). If it's on and you aren't using a MP-75 or MCA100, then it's very likely your pedal will be confused and think that you're using a remote button to toggle the pedal when you really are not. Cheers!
I recently bought this device and I'm wondering if in this forum there are discussions about the best settings for songs outside the ones that come preloaded.
I'm certainly a newbie when it comes to singing and could definitely use some help from experienced performers/sound engineers in defining these settings.
Thanks!
This is such an open question. Song settings - reverb, deleay, compression, etc. - are totally subjective and would depend on what YOU, and only YOU, wanna do. For ME, for example, I double and compress my voice, but that's ME.
Hi @mvillada ,
What type of settings are you trying to make on your Voicelive Play? I can probably help you find the settings you're looking for!
An open question indeed, so let me add some specifics: these are the 2 songs I'm currently rehearsing:
Thanks!
Hi Rob,
Basically these are the 2 songs I'd like to start with:
For the former, I started 'tweaking' the preloaded Beatles' Come Together since the voice sounds kind of similar (to my untrained ears at least). I'm sure somebody with the proper background would go down a completely different path
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also, is this the right group to post these kinds of questions?
Thanks in advance for your help!
@mvillada for Wild Flower I'd add a fairly subtle reverb or a light slapback delay, and then I'd set doubling to the "one voice loose" setting and set it to "hit." That way you can press the hit button on the chorus to add doubling. From there I'd tweak it to taste; maybe your voice will sound better with two voices of doubling, or maybe you want harmonies instead of doubling. There's no rules saying you have to make the exact sound from the recording. Have fun, let us know if you have any other questions!
Good afternoon,
I purchased your unit approximately 2.5 years ago and I was quite impressed with its operation and functionality until recently. Firstly, I would like to emphasize that thus far it has been utilized on a minimal basis when my son and I would jam maybe twice monthly for about 90 min or so. We did three or four gigs with the unit also. Anyway, over the last month or so the unit has been intermittently cutting on and off. It seems to happen more often when when I'm hitting the left foot switch. Yesterday it froze up and all of the vocal harmony lights were on and the unit completely froze up. I had to unplug the unit to get it to operate again. Is there something I specifically should be looking for to remedy the situation? Is there a factory authorized company I could send it to get repaired? I'd hate to have to purchase a new one (as like I stated earlier, this one really doesn't have a lot of use). Any help you can send my way would be greatly appreciated as I just signed up for a couple of ongoing weekly gigs and the last thing I need is for the unit to fail whilst on stage doing my thing. I'm sure you understand. Thank you in advance. I'll await your reply. Make it a great day...

Hello,
I've been trying to contact TC Helicon Support for days. I encounter an error every time I try to submit a service ticket.
I bought a Voicelive 3 used on Reverb in July. The control knob is busted off with the shaft inside it. Fella that sold it claimed it was a mainly cosmetic issue that did not interfere with the unit's functionality. That was true, at first. Settings could still be adjusted by pressing the knob into the unit.
That no longer works, meaning I can't adjust many settings. I can't reset the unit to it's factory default because I can't use the knob. I've been trying to get in touch to get a quote for replacing the knob or some kind of workaround if it exists.
Can someone please help me, with a quote for repair or with contact information for an actual person or technician? I'm now stuck with this unit that is at once mostly functional and basically useless to me. I'm in Erie, Pa. Thanks in advance.
Best,
Elliot
IMG_1010.JPGHi @lightison ,
Our support system was having some issues this month but it should be working now. If you create a care ticket under the "support" tab on www.musictribe.com it should allow you to create a ticket.
Hope this helps, let me know if you have any further questions!
I never know if the harmony will be good or bad.
Often I play a C chord on the guitar and sing a note in the C chord and the harmony voices, which are set to "sing" a 3rd and a 5th, instead sing one or more dissonant notes; often a 2nd. I can find no way to set this to sing just simple harmony where I can rely on it. I've tried all the settings that seem to relate to it. It does it with the presets I've made and with those that come with it.
Here's a DropBox link to what I'm talking about (in Bb, but it happens in all keys). When it sounds good it's great, but I can't find a way to rely on good harmony. Suggestions would be much appreciated.

Spence? Nothing? Crickets?
No one else having this problem or no one has solved it?
Am I missing the little known "Harmonize On Pitch" button?
Is my unit failing or do I just need to get over it?
Hi.
Did you check if Harmony follows your guitar? Maybe RoomSense microphones are active. Check page 97 on PDF manual.
Best
Thanks for taking the time to respond. I've done RoomSense both ways.
Also putting individual voices on NatPlay or Scale don't seem to fix it.
Am I the only one having trouble with randomly misbehaving harmonies?
Has TC-Helicon (or Behringer) really washed their hands of us? I just spent $800 on the VL3X a couple of months ago.
Hi @jkrantman ,
What are your settings in the harmony tab of the Vocal fx? If you send a picture of all the settings that would make troubleshooting your issue a lot easier.
Rob, good to see your reply. I will gather the settings, but it seems to happen on a lot of different presets. I will confirm that I am right about that and will get back with you with the settings.
