      Hi Fhell,

Thanks for being a TC Electronic customer!

Your Studio Konnekt 48 will work just fine in macOS Mojave.

If You, later on, would like to upgrade to macOS Catalina, the TC Near control panel and the mixer doesn't support 64bit, but You will still be able to use the inputs and outputs of the Studio Konnekt 48

All the best and stay safe from

      • Studio Konnekt 48 and Mac OS 10.14 ( Mojave ) ?
Maddam hi Claus, I've got a SK48 working fine on an old PC, but on a clean 2019 Macbook (with Mojave), the driver (TC Near software) can't find the device. All installs work fine, and the Macbook sees the SK48 device (I can tell from the System Information list of firewire connections).
Now, I wonder if I should update the SK48 firmware on the old PC and then try again on the Macbook? I have tried a couple of different driver versions, including the newest one, of course.

      joanba Hi,

I'm using Mojave 10.14.6 and I've got issues with TC Near software. With previous Mojave versions it was working fine but something changed with 10.14.6. Not sure if it was something related with the update or simply some file was corrupted, I did several things like to delete preferences, caches, temp files but control panel was stuck without any relevant information at all. At startup, the info dialog appeared and nothing else, I needed to hard terminate the app with cmd+alt+esc as it was 'not responding'.

Strangely, today has started to work again ( not other updates... ), no console messages, and running the control panel from command line I get this log:

at least I can ensure these error messages are 'normal' and do not prevent the application to run fine.

It's a pity that a very nice hardware, working fine, is not more useable just because the vendor is not updating a very obsolete software. Honestly, by now I won't update my laptop to new MacOS versions but planning to replace this hardware asap with some other brand with more commitment with customer.

      Regards,
      Joan

KomarovVladimir Mac OS (high Sierra 10.13.6 ) supports 32 bit drivers for Studio Konnekt 48 but an error appeared on the last start. After that, the control panel will not start. What can be wrong? Previously worked on this operating system for two years without problems.

    ...and preserved his brother’s legacy

It takes a diverse collection of skills to innovate and create the tools for which TC Electronic is famed. So, it’s only a matter of time before you come across a team member whose talents go far beyond the workplace. And nowhere is that more apparent than in TC Electronic’s Christian G. Frandsen.

Christian has been our Product Development Engineer and Specialist for 25 years and helps develop our professional studio equipment. But being an engineer, for Christian, doesn’t stop at TC Electronic. You could even say that it runs in the family.

The Start of a Life-Long Adventure
Back in 1981, a 10-year-old Christian would listen to cassette tapes of a band called TV-2, a Danish pop rock group that was only just starting at that time. His older brother Anders was a Front-of-House engineer for the band and recorded an early performance of theirs in Holbaek all those years ago. This had a huge impact on Christian as it was not just the music of what would become one of the biggest bands in Denmark that resonated with him, but his brother was also part of something big. Something Christian felt was very special. This engendered a passion for sound and music that would shape Christian’s life and lead to a career in TC Electronic which persists to this day.

    Tragedy and a Renewed Purpose
Sadly, Anders would pass away suddenly in 2008 leaving behind fond memories and some tapes of early TV-2 recordings, among others which Christian would inherit. Though rough and mixed for live sound, he had in his hands the purest sources of inspiration that set him down the path to where he is now. It deserved a lot more than to just sit in a shelf gathering dust.

In 2016, as he was remastering his own band’s recordings, Christian decided to dust off those old TV-2 tapes from Anders and remix the recordings now with the power of modern technology that just wasn’t available back in the 80s. With a few test optimizations in hand, Christian got in touch with TV-2 who then agreed to try to remaster the concert.

With the band’s blessing, the desire to honor his brother’s legacy and to share the recordings with other eager fans, Christian started on an adventure that would last up to five and a half years.

Renewing a Legacy with Modern Technology
Restoring the recordings wouldn’t be an easy task though. The mixes were recorded directly from the Front-of-House console and were mixed for live audiences not for listening at home. Distortion from the aging cassette tape plus those from the original equipment themselves had to be cleaned up along with several other anomalies that presented themselves.

Some of the original vocals were cut out of the original recordings as they were too distorted and unintelligible. This was done with the help of a company based in Los Angeles that specialized in extracting vocals from recordings. New vocals were recorded and gently mixed in, matching the same energy and feel of the original.

During the remastering process, Christian used several different effects, compressors and metering solutions from TC Electronic

    • The 12-band Midas powered EQ PEQ 3000 was used for all EQ tasks in mix and mastering and fixing the identified issues with the original cassette tape like rather severe stereo, left/right and mid/side spectral imbalances
    • The very flexible MD4 HD multiband compressor was used for mastering, overall dynamics control while the five bands give high spectral resolution and transparency to the delicate compression
    • The high-end true stereo reverb VSS4 HD adds club-like early reflections and stereo width help that are lacking in the original PA console output mix, which was recorded with close mic-ing and reverb tail effects only
    • The BRICKWALL HD master true-peak limiter gives an exceptional view and control of peaks and track loudness to align the project with modern streaming standards
    • The Midas powered DYN 3000 channel compressor was used in the mastering process adding just a tiny punch and was also used on the new vocal recordings where the dynamics and texture were profiled and reproduced
    • The classic delay TC2290 was used for effects on the dubbed sources like parts of the lead vocal. In the original mix there are multiple delay elements and these were profiled and reproduced.
    • The vintage reverb DVR250 was used for important 80s reverb sound on the dubbed sources like parts of the lead vocal in order for them to mix perfectly with the original concert.
    • Throughout the project the Clarity M meter was a great companion for stand-alone (off screen) metering. It adds continuous views on spectral content, center-location, loudness and phase and by using USB/plugin connection to the unit either master out, busses or channels can easily be monitored.
Further, TC Electronic System 6000, Clarity X, Studio Konnekt 48 was used as well
Some of the other amazing tools that were used in this project were from: Steinberg, Audionamix, iZotope, Voxengo, Waves, Klevgrand, SSL, RTW, Dynaudio and DPA Microphones.

The remastered 1981 Holbaek recordings were released in January 2022, 40 years after they were initially committed to tape, and have been made available in many different streaming platforms, cassette tape and vinyl, which received great reviews and even reached no. 1 on the Danish vinyl chart; with TV-2’s early formative performances, and Anders and Christian’s hard work available for everyone to hear.

“A circle is drawn,” says Christian “and it’s both a huge pleasure and a great challenge to help this concert on its way. I am very grateful that TV-2 has been so obliging and patient in the long process.”

    Hello,

I received the email with a broken link so i can't download and activate the free gift polytune plugin (i have bought polytune clip black here in Italy).  I can't understand how to reach the customer service to ask my questions on the tuner clip, and surfing on this tc electronic website is a real maze , between pages that are not displayed correcty on Mozilla Firefox (now i am on MS Edge) and some broken links, included the download link for that plugin.

    Someone can help me?
    Dimitri

edit:  i am experiencing some difficulty to stabilize the tuning on low E of guitar string particularly in strobe mode : I like that mode,  i can get easily an optimal  balance of the strobe , the correct tuning of all the others strings, but it seems to be harder with the Low  E... also with minimal rotations of the tuning peg it tends to go a little flat or sharp (appears first line of red leds)

update :  the problems are solved, i received answer on messenger chat  of TC Electronic Facebook page.

MFA Hi AminSoogBand. Try to install the latest MAC driver for TC Near (3.6.1) that you will find in the Software list on the Impact Twin product page. Konnekt 24D and Impact Twin are based on the same platform and support for Konnekt 24D should be included in the latest driver. (Updated July 2022)
We have received a lot of questions about native M1/M2 support for our TC Electronic audio plug-ins on Mac.

We are a 100% committed to creating native M1 versions of our plug-ins. As there is more to programming these than just a recompile of the software, (due to the code base, libraries, and the sheer number of work hours needed), this is, unfortunately, not a short-term project. We will update you on a release date as soon we are able.

Here is a comprehensive overview of the current compatibility of our plug-ins on M1 and M2 Macs.

    The Rosetta Workaround
If you are using Cubase, Nuendo, or Wavelab, you can enable these apps to run in Rosetta mode to continue using our plug-ins. This is obviously not ideal, but at least it will allow you to access older projects or quickly freeze tracks before you jump back to running natively.

    Business as Usual
Fortunately, Pro Tools and Reason run in Rosetta automatically, as there is no native version of these available. You will be able to use our plug-ins as usual.

    Keep Turning it to 11
The good news is, most Mac apps support Audio Units (AU) plug-ins for which your M1/M2 Mac has Apple’s “AUHostingCompatibilityService“ built in. It’s clear sailing with:

    • Logic
    • Ableton Live
    • Reaper
    • Studio One
    • Digital Performer
    • Adobe Audition
    • Final Cut
    • DaVinci Resolve
    • Adobe Premiere

Accordingly, if you are using any of the apps above, make sure you have the AU version of our plug-ins installed and you will be good to go.

Simply launch the native version of your app alongside other native 3rd party plug-ins. Thanks to the AU implementation, our TC Electronic plug-ins will launch in Rosetta mode, while the app and other plug-ins run natively.

    Help us Help You
Again, we will have native versions of all your favorite TC Electronic plug-ins available in the future.

In the meantime, share with us how Rosetta and the AU compatibility service is working for your setup. Please let us know what is working and what isn’t. With your feedback we will be best positioned to support our plug-ins natively on M1 and M2 going forward.

    Thank you!

PierreC Hi there. I was once a happy user of LM2n, but since I switched to a M1pro macbook running Monterey, it has a serious graphical issue. it's working with Rosetta, but the metering "circle" is very small, almost unusable (see the pic attached).
Please fix that before releasing a native update, so at least I can use it with Rosetta.

nlsrecordingstudio It's an absolute disgrace that a company like TC is more than 2 years overdue for releasing compatible software. Yes I know it's complex and you need coders but it has taken you 2 years to even make this statement... Releasing new products with no support for a 2 year old OS. Even Steinberg is native which is a lot more complex than a plugin like the TC icon line.... No repose on support questions it's all very bad. We make living mixing with your products and you make a living creating products that we buy. So stop releasing new stuff and start supporting all the great suff you have already.

SebP I couldn't agree more. I just hope that compatible software won't be available at a time when Apple releases its Macbook M5 generation or so and my M1 pro which I bought last year slowly becomes obsolete. My bank of plugins is made of 20 different editors. All of them have now brought Apple silicon native support for Cubase. Just saying...

I have also searched the TC Electronics website to identify their complaints procedure and it appears they do not have one.

Good luck with that. TC Electronic is the worse company to deal with. They have NO customer support. I bought Finalizer and didn't receive my email with the serial number. I am so pissed off.

If you get any issues as a small customer with TC electronics, forget it, it's like dealing with a crook or a drug dealer.  Once they got your money they make sure reaching out to them is impossible, yet acting like they have some form of customer support.

You want an example of how low TC electronic is, what and the bunch of crooks they are? Go on their support page.  They have the guts to put pictures of support people with a smile on their face and a headset as if they have a proper customer support team and a call center. They don't. it's all smoke and mirrors.

I finally got it to work in my system...sort of!  The first I learned from TC Electronic support is that you must use it with an ASIO sound driver.  Okay, so I opened it in a different computer with ASIO and I have it authorized through iLok...fine!  And I got it to open, take a master, manipulate it and so on.  I also put in several reference track and...voila!  I can compare my track to pro released tracks!  However, I never got an answer from support re: the Finalizer.exe (the executable file) doesn't install the program into my Windows 10 operating system, it just opens directly from the folder where it sits on my C drive.  This can't be right because when I go to save as a project, it saves the name I gave in the folder I sent it to, however, there's no file extension assigned to it.  And I have no clue what file extension it should have.  Windows can't open it without a file extension.  That's why it's not right...the fact that it opens directly from the folder withought installing to the operating system...we're missing something here.

Will someone please confirm that this is the problem with this software...IT DOESN'T INSTALL INTO THE OPERATING SYSTEM...IT JUST OPENS DIRECTLY FROM THE FOLDER!  SO I CAN'T SAVE A PROJECT BECAUSE IT DOESN'T ASSIGN YOUR FILE AN EXTENSION!

Now that I more or less figured out how it works (I read through much of the manual) I would love to have actually save a project so I can go back and keep refining my master.

WILL SOMEONE AT TC ELECTRONIC PLEASE FIX THIS ISSUE OR RETURN OUR MONEY...100 HARD-EARNED AMERICAN DOLLARS!

      Thanks,

      DrMove

We use a studiokonnekt 48, purchased new a very few years ago. It has been our audio interface workhorse for years under several iterations of MacOS. TC has apparently released the 64-bit version of Windows drivers/apps for controlling this and other TC interfaces. It is not apparent that TC Electronic (today part of the Behringer concern) has commited to letting us use our perfectly healthy audio interfaces under 64-bit system software such as Mojave.

We are asking TC Electronic - presumably its own division in the Behringer sphere - to commit to developing and releasing 64-bit-compliant software for the studiokonnekt 48 and the handful of other excellent TC audio interfaces from that generation, so that we who pay your bills and make doing business a pleasure can remain happy users of TC's great gear.

Let's go TC, show us - your user-base - some honest and simple generosity!

NicJonesMT Hi Michael. The TC Near interfaces (Konnekt and Impact) are long discontinued. This means that there will be no future updates to the software that the products use.

Some users have had some success using these products with more recent operating systems however we do not officially support this.

I downloaded the Finalizer program but cannot get it to work with my Apollo 16mkll thunderbolt interface. Seems like the software will not communicate with the hardware. I can't change sample rates and get the sample rate mismatch flag when I load an audio file.

      Hi glento,

Try switching the sample rate from Original to the supported 44.1kHz or 48kHz ?
