My "on" footswitch for my Harmony Gxt pedal popped off at my show this past weekend. I'm not sure if there's a peice missing but I have the print and the button/switch. I tried to pop it back in but it just pops back out. I contacted support and hoping to hear back. Has this happened to anyone or does anyone know how to fix it? I tried searching online as well and couldn't find anything. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you! I enclosed two pics to this as well.

Revised - as I just received a USB-A to USB-A cable from Amazon and it doesn't work either...

I've had a VL3 for several years, but gave up on it shortly after getting it.  Now I'm back. Firmware is v1.0.20 ! and needs updating.

I have tried using both a USB-A to micro-USB B cable and a USB-A to USB-A cable, both of which I have tried plugging into my mac and appropriate USB port on the VL3.  I have downloaded the VoiceSupport2 app.  When I run it with the VL3 on and plugged in as above, the program tells me there are no MIDI capable devices available.  It doesn't see the VL3 despite power on power off, unplug plug in, and anything else I could think of.

To add insult to injury, if I click on the "More Info..." button for 'more information on diagnosing connection problems, I get a black screen telling Safari can't find the server (music-group.force.com).

HELP!!!!   I am out of options with a VL3 with very obsolete firmware.

djmorgan17 Thanks. Just put in Care Request. But why is my Mac and VoiceSupport2 not seeing the unit???? And which USB connection are you supposed to use???? or can you use either???? Manual sucks - all kinds of information that should be in there isn't. Is there another resource with more detailed info like the above, and what each of the effects actually changes (gender, portamento, etc.) ??? And why is the More Info link broken - where on the web is the current info on troubleshooting connection problems??? Thank you.

      • Updating firmware ??? Help - my mac w VoiceSupport2 doesn't see my VL3
Nigel67 Have you checked that on the VL3 Midi Source is set to USB as I mentioned in my previous message.. This is the usual reason that the MAC and Windows machine are not seeing it. There is only one USB connector that you can plug a USB memory stick into which is the Type A. The Voicelive3 when purchased, would have been supplied with a USB Type A to a USB Type B Mini for connection between your PC and unit. Have you visited our KB article section which may have answered your connection problem? https://musictribecommunity.powerappsportals.com/en-US/knowledgebase/category/?id=CAT-01007

djmorgan17 While we're communicating, can you tell me where VoiceLiveEditor (VL3 Free) from voiceliveeditor.com is safe to download. I find editing the VoiceLive 3 presets from the device itself extremely cumbersome and time consuming. Using an Mac-based editor with a full screen to work with would be so much easier. Would love to know your or others experience with it. Thanks!

Hi Pedro, thanks for your reply, sorry I'm new here and seem to have deleted my original question. You replied with a link to an overview video about button mapping. I understand the basics of button mapping on the VL3 covered in that video. But I'm trying to make the VL emulate my stompbox board. Here is a visual reference. You can see on the screen on the VL3 in the photo below that I have re-mapped the 'home' screen so the buttons on my VL3 are basically a reflection of my pedalboard layout: the Umod=Phase Shifter, Delay=DD3, Harmony button = harmony G, STEP button=amp model=MXR microamp.  You can also see that I have mapped the HIT and COMP buttons to serve as LOOP triggers. And that's where it all unravels for me. You can see the RC-20 in my pedal-board... but I don't store or save any loops or tracks, I just build them live, usually, only 1 or 2 layers, WHILE I'm performing the song, not before. So, I'm trying to make the 2 buttons on the home screen (HIT and COMP) behave like the left and right pedals on the RC 20... and those behave as I have described above. Can you tell me if it is possible to do this?

    My Original Question:

I'm trying to map the buttons on my VoiceLive3 to act like an imitation of my old-school stompbox pedalboard. I do a lot of live looping, but I don't have any saved tracks - so I just build them all on the fly. So, what I'm trying to do is map 2 of the buttons on the main screen of the VoiceLive to act like the left/right buttons on my Boss RC20. So, ideally - switch one would start recording a loop, and pressing one again would capture and play that loop, pressing it again would begin an overdub, pressing switch 2 would capture the loop but not play it back right away. Also, on the RC-20, I can step and hold switch 2 to erase the loop and start again, pressing and holding switch one erases just the last layer of the loop I recorded.

What would be the way to most closely approximate this on a Voicelive 3, assuming I want ALL of the buttons mapped to one home screen (in other words, the 2 loop switches would be mapped the home Vocal screen so I don't have to switch back and forth to the 'loop layer' on the pedal)?

Thanks, A LOT in advance for any information or guidance.

      NicJonesMT Hi Jamoja.
I'm Nic from the UK support team.

We are currently working remotely and I don't have access to a VL3 at the moment,

The option you would need to assign is Set+Stop. Which will allow you to record your loop and stop playback. You will need to assign this to one of the switches.
There are also options for Set and Overdub, and Set and Play.

Based on your description above you would need to assign Set+Play and Set+stop to emulate your RC20.

      • Mapping LOOP Buttons on TC-Helicon Voice Live 3 - Customize
jamoja I appreciate your reply Nic, this is exactly the information I am trying to get at! My first question is, can these functions be assigned to switches on the home screen of the actual VL3? Please see my picture above, can I make the S:1A switches on that layer behave as you describe? Or, do I need the Switch 3 extension pedal? Also, on the RC-20 if I press LEFT button it begins recording and if I press it again it begins playing what I just looped (your setting = SET+PLAY) while it is playing the loop if I press LEFT again it begins overdubbing, when I press again it continues looping and adds the new layer. Is this how your SET+OVERDUB setting works? Or does it somehow keep adding layers until you hit a STOP of some kind? If it adds each layer as pressed, it seems like I would mimic the RC-20 by adding a Switch 3 and mapping the buttons to be SET+OVERDUB; SET+STOP; ERASE? Does this sound correct? I'm sorry to ask you to get so granular about the controls but I have been looping like this for 15+ years and it's just innate now, so it's practically a deal breaker on if this pedal will meet my needs. Thanks for your help.

NicJonesMT Sorry for the delay in replying.

        I'd recommend watching the following VL3 Looper video;

        https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fPkprb6D1ko

The above video covers how to use the Looper and a break down of the functions.

If you refer to the user manual (page 169 - 171) you can see the full list of parameters you can assign to the foot switches and to the Switch3/6

        https://mediadl.musictribe.com/download/software/tchelicon/tc-helicon_voicelive_3_reference_manual_english.pdf

Based on the information in the user manual (We are working remotely so I don't have access to a VL3 at this time) it isn't possible to set the VL3 up to emulate the behaviour of your RC20.

Hello>I'm the original OWNER of my VoiceLive2 and when I got it out of the box-it was a snap to set 'her' to rec. on Channel 3 (played by my left chord hand) from my YAMAHA PSR S910 keyboard. I never once used it as a stompbox rather placed her right on my music stand & pushed the buttons w/ my right hand.

For 1 thing trying to get Voicesupport pgm to work was a day-mere ! I kept trying upteen times until this AM when as soon as i booted & got to the desktop, I opened Voicelive 2-it opened ! Then, I plugged in my Live2--they synched up but then I could ONLY update-which it did YET, i still have the same issues with the harmonies triggered by my ONE MiDi keyboard (That always worked b-4) did not read my midi notes or chords played by my left hand. i finally got it to work--UPDATED_ and it would NOT play the vocals as i played them. I always was able to play Sus4ths & slide to a simple major chord. i.e. C-E-F-G that slides into C-E-G.

Now please note, I had had to put my beloved VL2 in her case as I've been fighting a real battle w/ stage 4 throat "C".  because of the time off, I've forgottten a LOT of the controlling knowledge I had of 'her."  NOW I desperatly  NEED YOUR HELP. I'm enclosing the URL of My Utube music videos.

Now I wasn't a great vocalist yet, I worked steady 5& 6 night hotel gigs on the road & even was a member of DION & the BELMONTS (reformed band).

1 more thing:  I can NOT seem to eliminate the "flange effect" on my double vocals. It used to sound like ME. Now, I have been frustrated for over 4 weeks which finally got me to post you here.

I have better pics but I have to jpoin my wife for dinner. I look forward to hearing back from SOMEONE-not like last week when i got a case# and no followup. Thanks for your time.

    Regards,  Don Taylor

I have a VOICELIVE 3 with a malfunctioning display, however the unit still works. I live in Hawaii and there is no local service center available. I had a local technician try and repair the unit using the instructions provided to me by the support team. Here is what he had to say: On May 29, 2020, at 4:46 PM, Tuned In Engineering wrote: Hi Grover, I was able to remove, clean and tighten the SD card, but no change. All cables and boards are installed correctly. Test mode does work, so the unit seems to be functioning. I repaired some solder joints and checked the voltage regulators and signals I could access. I would suspect that the display driver/drivers are the problem, but I can’t be certain. I tried everything on the TC website and can’t find any other service info on this. Below is a photo of the display. It is practically useless without a functioning display. Can you offer any suggestions or are parts available that my technician could get to make the repair? Thank you in advance.

I am trying to set up my MIDI Baby 3 to turn on and off harmonies on my Voicelive Touch 2 with a CC message and not having success. I have emailed Disaster Area and await a response. All the commands seem to be sent out right. I duplicated what gets sent from the onboard harmony switch on the VLT2 and a Switch 3. I am hoping there is someone who has been successful doing this. There is a twist that may be a hint. If I connect a 5 pin MIDI cable and turn on MIDI rather than USB on the VLT2 it works. The messages sent are a little different though. There is a Merge setting on the VLT2 that allows Midi on both USB and 5 pin but when that is on the VLT2 does not get the PC message when I swipe to the next song. For that to work it must be set to USB. I have posted to Facebook group, nothing so far. MIDI Baby 3 is sending up and down page CC commands to my iPad running BandHelper. Looking for suggestions.

RandyB Hi Leah, he has and I appreciate the time. here is my response, Hi William,

From Page 69 of the manual:
      MIDI CTRL parameter

The MIDI CTRL (Control) parameter defines which ports (USB and/or the physical MIDI input) are used byVoiceSupport soft- ware and for MIDI keyboard input and control.

      Merge setting (default)

When you set the MIDI Control parameter to Merge, a computer running VoiceSupport software can be connected to the USB port to control and update the device. MIDI notes, control messages and MIDI Clock are received via the physical MIDI Input jack on the device.

      MIDI setting

When you set the MIDI Control parameter to MIDI, the USB port is ignored. MIDI notes and control messages are received via the physical MIDI Input jack on the device. You can also use MIDI System Exclusive messages on the MIDI Input jack to import presets using librarian software on a computer.

      USB setting

On this setting, the physical MIDI In is ignored. The USB port on the VoiceLive Touch 2 is used for both VoiceSupport and MIDI notes and control messages.

Here is my problem. If I choose MIDI in my settings I can turn off and on the CC changes for harmonies with my MIDI pedal, however I loose the ability to make Program changes so swiping to the next song to load the appropriate harmonies is lost. If I choose USB the opposite occurs no Harmonies off and on CC, Program changes work.

This statement from the manual means this should work hence I believe the device is not working as sold., .The USB port on the VoiceLive Touch 2 is used for both VoiceSupport and MIDI notes and control messages.

In response to your statement, "I believe it is usb in or midi in but not both."I know that it can do this from software because I was previously using click/backing tracks with MIDI through BandHelper on my iPad and the MIDI messages from the USB port to the VLT2 worked. Both CC and PC messages worked.

So it seems to me that this should work though the USB from the MIDI Baby 3 which is sending the correct info as can be seen by the fact that it gets through MIDI.

I see this as a broken function on a current product that needs to be repaired.

I have owned several TC Helicon Harmony pedals and I want to keep using them but this means I need to look elsewhere to get something that should be working according to our manual.

Hope to hear from you, happy to talk via Skype, ZOOM or phone,

      Randy

      Hi @Soulfood ,

All the information on how to perform a factory reset on Voicelive Rack are on page 13 of the manual. I've copied and pasted it here:

"This can be performed to initialize all presets and
system parameters back to their factory defaults.
      To perform a global reset:
      1. Power up the unit.
      2. When the first text is displayed in the LCD
window, hold the 4 buttons listed below and
continue to hold until the reset prompt is
      displayed:
      • µMod
      • Delay
      • Reverb
      • Tone
This procedure can take up to 2 minutes."

      Hi @Henko ,

I asked around here at the TC Helicon office and it seems that there might not be a global factory reset function on the original voicelive, and if there is, we don't know how to do it!

That said, you can reset individual presets and songs in the Voicelive's settings; you can find more information on how to do this on page 44 of the Voicelive user manual. Hope this helps!

      @bearaby

The Perform V input and output operate at mic level so are not suitable for direct connection to a mixer's FX/Aux Send and Return. You could use a 40dB Attenuator  or a DI Box to connect the mixer Aux Send to the Perform V Mic In. You would need to use a mic input on the mixer for the Perform V Mic Out.

I don't know how well this would work in practice. I think you would get better results using an FX processor that is designed to work at line level. For example: Behringer FX2000 or TC M350
