I just bought the podcast bundle with the c-1, HMP1000 headphones and the UM2 interface. i need to urgently record voice over work and the hissing sound in the background is too loud. When I increase input gain it gets even louder, when i decrease it the mic does not detect my voice at all.

I am using Audacity with settings on MME + recording via the C1 only and only listening through the headphones.

Please assist me to clear this annoying noise? Is it even possible or is the product just not that great?

KyleJohnson There are several factors that could be at play here. If you have access to another Mic and XLR cable, I'd start by swapping pieces to determine which one is causing the issue. You could also disconnect the mic entirely, and see if you have the same level of noise without any inputs connected to the UM2. It could also be a USB problem, do you have access to another USB cable you can swap in?

      • UM2 PODCAST BUNDLE WITH DISTURBING "WHITE" NOISE IN THE BACKGROUND
KyleJohnson That is a very high amount of noise. Could you please submit a support ticket by clicking the support link at the top of the page? I think one or more of the components of your system may be faulty.

I am trying to set up a DAW with my X32 and cannot get a signal into the DAW.  Any ideas on what I am doing wrong would be appreciated.  I believe the DAW can see the X32, but the X32 does not see the DAW over the USB connection.    Here are the technical details. The attached PDF has all of the screenshots that I describe below.

    X32 – firmware version 4.02

Dell Laptop (Win10) running X-USB driver version 4.59

    Adobe Audition 2020

The laptop detects the USB port is attached to the X32 as shown in snips of the X-USB interface from my laptop.

What I don’t see on the X-USB control panel is all of the channels as described in the manual.  The manual says I should be seeing this:

The adobe software also sees that I am attached to an X-32 as shown in this screenshot.

Here is a picture of the routing tab where my local channels are set up to route out to the USB-X card.

My conclusion is that either I am missing something in my X32 config to make this work or the driver my laptop is broken.  Thoughts?

Also, here is my set up screen from the X32 if that is helpful.

GaryHiggins Hello Severt, You may be missing the card out routing? That determines what goes to your DAW. If its local xlr's choose local 1-32 in groups of 8 in the card out menu. Once recorded, you would set your inputs to card on the inputs screen. EDIT: Are you using the X-USB card? (I saw X-UF in one pic) If you do have the X-uf card you need the usb driver specific to it (6.13)

      • X-USB not connecting to DAW - need help figuring out why
Severt Problem solved. It was indeed my DAW configuration that was incorrect. The DAW defaulted to x32 WDM. I initially had not seen the drop down arrow which allowed me to select ASIO instead. Thanks for your help!

    Hi All,

I'm a lifelong Tannoy fan. This is my first post which I hope is OK, as it's about retro-kit and self build, so I'll understand if I should "take it somewhere else", as this is a bit "cheeky". Please let me know.

I built some monitors using the 8" drivers from Stratfords for my Son as a 21st birthday present (your tech support folk might enjoy the last page of the attached spoof brochure). Their sound made me miss the 15" Berkleys I gave to a friend many decades ago.

So I bought a pair of DC200's to recabinet the 10" 2558 dual concentrics to enhance the bass. But, analysis showed the Tannoy engineers had the cabinet size spot on (given my assumption on Xmax).

After more research I bought a pair of 10" 2500 passive ABR's intending to re-create the Tannoy Mayfair, but now realise their power handling was only 70W (due to larger cabinet?), and my Quad 405 with 100W may blow up the drivers..... clever eh!

Noting Tannoy have used dual porting on recent models with great success, I wonder if a kindly speaker engineer could take pity, and point me in the right direction in terms of ABR Vs single port Vs dual port design. And technically, tell me what the Xmax of the 2558 actually is, and any insights on the old Mayfair cabinet design and crossovers?

    Many thanks, Nick

I've been having this issue for a couple of weeks and just realized it was a problem with my X32. Certain channels on my board are suddenly not sending to the correct outputs, such as mains and aux outputs. I took the channel settings for a channel and copied them exactly to a new channel and tried using that input channel. When I did this, the channel worked exactly like it was set, sending everything to the correct outputs. I had to do this with my electric piano, drums, acoustic, and electric guitar channels. What would be causing this?

I've uploaded the scene file. If it is a double channel, the one to the left of it is the channel we copied the settings to.

DaveMorrison How did you attach your scene file??? This is something we've been wanting since they revamped this infernal forum.
I've taken a quick look at your scene. I'll study it more in a few hours. Maybe one of the other experts will have it solved before I get to it????.

      • X32 Outputs Randomly Not Working
Paul_Vannatto I just found out that attachments can only be done when you start a new thread, not when replying. Also the formatting features that we use to have in the previous interface (including URL links) are also available when creating new thread, but not for replies (grrrrr).

Paul_Vannatto Hi Caleb, how are you copying the channels - on the console or in X32-Edit? In X32-Edit, make sure you are on the Mixer tab if you want everything copied. Otherwise the recall scope (paste) will be context limited to the tab (screen) you are on.

I had a look at your scene and one thing I noticed that some of the duplicates (eg. IPAD) are on even/odd pairs. If you are planning on stereo linking those channels, it won't work, since the stereo linking only works on odd/even channels.

      • X32 Outputs Randomly Not Working
orangetiger1234 I copied some through the console and some through the iPAD app. The channels that I copied aren't the issue. The issue is that the original channels stopped sending to random outputs such as mains and my livestream feed.

DaveMorrison It is fantastic to see your mixer's setup; it's really easy to see what going on. Can you tell us which channels are are problem and the channel that fixes that problem, so I can compare them more closely? For example, does 4 and 29 (piano) go to the same instrument? These are setup quite differently. It sounds like when you move the channel you are also moving the input cable to the new channel's input. Is this correct? With a little more detail, we can troubleshoot this problem.

      • X32 Outputs Randomly Not Working
orangetiger1234 Hi David. The channels that I copied were 15 to 14, 6 to 5, 11 to 12. I know that channel 7 also has issues right now, but I haven't tried the copy method yet. And yes, I just switched the input over to those channels.

DaveMorrison There are two differences—the same two differences in these channels. Each of the problem channels has DCA 2 and Mute Groups 2 & 6 assigned. Clear them one-by-one to find your problem (or push up the DCA fader to unity).

The Tribe came through for me last time, so I'm back again with a lot more knowledge, but still getting stumped by this one! We are testing some gear for a new studio and have the X32 LIVE SD recording card on loan. We installed the card into our X32 to try for some live shows, but we are separately working on a big recording project using Logic Pro X--so I of course have scenes for both so I could toggle between the functions. I thought this would work, but I'm at a loss.

When I loaded my REC scene to playback a new song for mixing, I get absolutely nothing for audio output. I can see the signal in Logic, and can't find any configuration on the X32 that sends this signal to my monitor controller. I didn't change any routing on the X32 from the way it previously worked. Our speaker/amp configuration is the same. I don't know 100% if it's a problem with routing or with the X32 LIVE card, or maybe I wrongly believed it would still interface the same as the X-USB card did? I'm uploading the scene we used previously that WORKED with the X-USB card--all I had to do was load the scene and turn up the knobs.

For reference, I'd been tracking 16 ch into Logic Pro X from the X32, then assigning certain instruments/groups in Logic back through the X32 for use with PowerPlay pods for multi-person recording, which is why the P16s are in use in the Card Output assignments. I thought I was starting to really get a grasp of routing this machine, but I can't even get this to output to my studio monitor controller for mixing. VERY frustrating and humbling.

Thanks in advance for any advice and assistance on this one! It's late here, so I'm giving up for the night. I'll check back tomorrow and hopefully one of you amazing folks can step up and help me out with this monster!

GaryHiggins Hello Brittany, I don't think your scene showed up correctly, try using drop box or similar to send a link to it. One big drawback with this new forum is the inability to attach scenes, it's unfortunate. It's probably a setting for the X-live card. Either with the record/playback/auto settings for sd or the main usb/sd setting period. I tried to attach a picture of where to look, for some reason i can't do it at the moment. I will try later.

      • Routing X32/DN32 with P16s
GaryHiggins Looks like this worked....anyway...I would guess first, the top left setting being at sd and not usb, or just the opposite. If not it could be the channel routing settings for record/playback or auto below it. I believe the setting there applies to both the usb and sd recorder. The routing is different there depending on how it is set up

      • Routing X32/DN32 with P16s
GaryHiggins Depending on which setting below, the routing has to be set for each. Then when you choose Automatic in the above pic, the routing changes when you hit record or play.

brees531 Thank you for looking into this a bit--I didn't realize the scene wouldn't share like I have done previously. I'm excited to jump into this again later today to test this out and see if that's where my settings are off from your suggested screen shots. I'm using the X32 Rack, so I'm not sure my screens look quite the same--I hope I can find these settings and apply the right switches. Thank you!

      • Routing X32/DN32 with P16s
Paul_Vannatto If you are using the X32 Rack front panel to setup your scenes and routing, I would strongly recommend using the X32-Edit app instead, since it is so much easier to do and much easier to see what you are doing. I do a lot of scene preparation for events (before the Covid-19 shutdown) and use X32-Edit (and/or M32-Edit). Using the front panel would be brutally hard IMO.
