    Hello-

I just installed a DN32 Dante card in a Midas M32C.  The M32C recognizes the card but when I plug the primary ethernet port to my cisco switch or go directly from laptop to secondary port, there is no network activity leds' flashing so the Dnate Controller software v.4.2.3.1 isn't picking it up.

Am I missing a step somewhere?

Any advise would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you.

GaryHiggins Do you have the latest firmware installed? Dante virtual soundcard installed? I have the X-Dante version but it is not presently in any machine (put in a X-Live) so I'm a bit foggy on it. What are you using for M32 clock? Needs to be EXp Card.

MichaelDeming I am using the card for the clock. The Midas is on firmware version 4.02. I must be missing a step as the M32C acknowledges the DN32 Dante card. I'm just not getting any activity lights on the primary or secondary ports. I using a Cisco unmanaged switch and can see my other Dante devices via Dante controller software with no problem.

GaryHiggins OK, only other thought is the firmware for the card, I looked earlier and it was giving a "bad file" message of some sort. I have not used my XDante card in a while, the firmware is the same. I may have it or you could check the Behringer site, it's there v4.08

MichaelDeming I can't access the card through the primary or secondary port via Dante Controller software to even see what version it is on. The card is brand new right out of the box. If the M32C didn't recognize the card is installed, I would think I had a dead card. I am not using a virtual IP card in this setup. Thank you for your suggestions.

GaryHiggins Last thought, try lowering the m32 firmware to 3.11 or 12, could be you can then connect the card and upgrade firmware of the Dante card, then move back to 4.02 firmware on the m32. It is possible 4.02 won’t recognize the older firmware...probably not, but possible

MichaelDeming Thank you. I will try that. I can't find any information on a factory reset on the M32C. I also own the actual M32 console and have factory before with no problem. Never have had any connectivity issues with that console. Thank you!

I just got the new bluetooth receiver.   It specs "TRS unbalanced" outputs on 1/4" jacks.   What does this mean?  TRS jacks are not used for mono unbalanced signals.  Is this a misprint?  Or do i need to make special TRS to TS cables to run unbalanced properly?

DanielPaine You are quite right! There seems to be a misprint. The jack outputs are unbalanced and should read TS. You would use a standard jack cable to run signal correctly. I believe TRS cable would work but it's my understanding that the signal would still be unbalanced in this instance

We have several clients begging us to get in touch with Klark Teknik. They're all waiting for another shipment of KT2A. When will this be expected?

OK is there anyone from KT/Midas that can tell me what cat five cable to use running, two DL231 stage boxes through a Klark Teknic DN9520 to Midas M32 and on occasion using the Behringer wing, I have been using and unshielded CAT5e with my  Midas Pro2 to the DL231's and it works great

I have as of yet have not used the M32/WING on the 9620, Options are,  1. use Cat5e on the stage to 9620 FOH and CAT5(shielded) to 9620 connect both desks, 2. reg Cat5e un-shielded from 9620 FOH to stage and 9620 UTE to both consoles, 3 un-shielded to all............

GaryHiggins I’m not FROM KT or Midas but you should use shielded cable for both the M32 and Wing along with ethercons. I know the Pro series mixers and stageboxes don’t require it but those 2 mixers do. Not sure where you jump off the stp bandwagon for your other gear when used together. I would play it safe and use STP with ethercons everywhere, ground/shield connected on both cable ends. It won’t hurt your Pro mixer or DL231’s to do that and be safe all around.

JimmyValenza I already figured that the two 9620's to the Consoles/DL231's each end would be shielded (I have two 5 ft Cat5 shielded on each 9620 to to DL231's to consoles) does the 9620 to 9620 require Shielded or un shielded?

JimmyValenza What is the DN9620 cable requirement from Box to Box(DN9620 to DN9620) or does this change with what consoles are being used?
      • July 27, 2020
      • DN9620
GaryHiggins As I said I would use Shielded (Cat5/6) or Cat7/8 (all Cat7/8 is shielded) with ethercons for everything, if you have that then you don't need to worry. That said the 9620 says: Extends two AES50 connections by 500 m with optical fibre or 100 m with Cat5 cable. So I would say it CAN use UTP. Still too confusing to keep straight so I would use STP everywhere.
        • July 27, 2020
    • JimmyValenza
JimmyValenza So CAT5e is un-shielded and CAT 5 is Shielded correct?
      • July 27, 2020
    • JimmyValenza
GaryHiggins Cat5e has better specs but shielding is a seperate piece. You can have either STP or UTP for both types. You would want Cat5e STP at a minimum IMO.

    DN32 - USB.

Attempted an upgrade to KT-DN32-USB-Driversetup-v4.59.0. on MIDAS M32.

When running the Dfu.exe file I got this Error code:

    Entering upgrade mode...

Upgrading firmware...0 of 40794 bytes transferred.

TUSBAUDIO_GetDfuStatus: Function Failed with Error code 0xEE000003.

Samplitude could not find the ASIO driver. I reloaded the previous ASIO driver v4.11, which only works correctly in 32/32 mode. Anything I can do?

Apologies for entering this into the wrong box below. I trust you can remove it.

    Graham.

RexBeckett Reinstall the V4.59.0 driver and ignore the Dfu.exe file. It didn't work for many people and is unnecessary.

Hi, The stereo Klark Teknik DI 10P features one L+R RCA and one 3.5mm (stereo) inputs. Can all inputs be simultaneously used so the 4 channels are summed to build a single mono signal ? I'm hesitant to try it. I wouldn't like to damage the DI. Thanks in advance.

    • jgomer2001
RexBeckett As I understand it, the RCA and 3.5mm sockets are connected directly together. This would not be a good way to sum two stereo sources but it is more likely to damage the sources than the DI 10P. You would get much better results by using a small stereo mixer to sum the sources.

jgomer2001 For those interested, here is the reply received by the support specialist: "You could use all inputs at the same time but I wouldn't recommend it to prevent overdriving the passive circuitry. Instead, If you need to use more than one source, plug your sources into a small mixer. Take the mixer's outputs and connect them to one of the stereo inputs of the DI. This will also allow for better control of your individual sources."

Hi, In the stereo Klark Teknik DI 10P every input channel has an attenuation knob. Product documentation mentions that knobs at fully clockwise position means no attenuation. What's the max attenuation achievable (ie. set fully counter clockwise) in dBV ? Thanks in advance.

jgomer2001 The level knobs of the DI 10P are relative to the signals input into the device. You can relate the 0 to 10 scale to 0% to 100%. So, it will take the signal and attenuate it down the percentage amount you choose of the signal coming in.

Hi, I have a DL422 inserted in the mid-slot of the PRO6 surface. I connected my outputs (Left and Right) to that and it works. But the red 'mute' light stays on. Anyone experiencing this? regards, Alex

      • DL442 mute
Nigel67 I would say that if the fault is on the DL442, then U9 is probably the culprit. You may find its as simple as a dry joint on one of the pins. This IC switches the Mutes on and off. Have you moved the card to another position just to check that the problem follows the card. It should do, but just want to check. You will need to get the card fixed if it does. It has a 10 year warranty if purchased on or after 1/9/2014. You need to contact the shop that you purchased the card from.

AlexNL I now understand what the mute light does on the DL442 and other outputs. when there is a signal, very very ver small. the light switches off. when there is no sound (digital zero) the light swithes on to RED.

Nigel67 Hi Alex, ah, yes. The mute LED circuitry is right on the output stage of the audio circuitry, so as soon as it detects any audio / noise, it will switch the LED off. Even if the Mute switch is unmuted, if there is not enough audio level/noise then the LED will not switch off.

        • July 13, 2020

AlexNL subscriptions is Dante terminology (i think). This is like 'patching' within the PRO series.

      • DN9650
AlexNL I am unsure where this is stored, I assume the KT-DANTE card inside the 9650 stores this 'patch'.
        • July 17, 2020
    • AlexNL
Nigel67 As far as I know, the dante device only stores a list of the device name/channel name of each of its receive subscriptions. The actual patching is on the computer. You would have to ask Dante to confirm this.
