    Hello,

anyone knows the procedure to setting the Multirack waves with Midas Venice F32 desk to using wawes in Live Concert?

    Thanks everybody for the help

I have a Midas M32 where I have 7 drum channels that make up 3 mixbuses that are then routed to the p16. The problem lies that when I mute the individual drum channels to keep them out of the house they can not be heard in the p16 in ear system. I have tried a lot of things without success including setting the taps to pre fader and pre eq both without mute enabled. I'm kind of lost here.

    Thanks

Paul Vannatto If you want to keep the drum channels out of the house, unselect the LR on the channel's Mains screen.

Ralph Gann I'm sorry I should have been more clear. It is an electric drum kit so they need to go through the house during performance but during the times prior to performance like warm up the talent cant hear the drums on the in ears (ultranet) when the drum channels are muted. But they can hear everyone else who is not going through a mixbus on the in ears whether they are muted or not. Also to clear things up a bit the in ears are being fed the drums over 4 p16 mixbus channels.

      • Midas M32 mute issues
Paul Vannatto Then assign those drum channels to a DCA and mute the DCA. If the channel sends are not set to post fader or subgroup, muting the DCA will mute those signals to the house and let the signals to the P16 pass through.

    Hi guys,

I want to do the following:

I'm using an M32 into Reaper for a live multitrack recording.

In a few weeks, I have a day of production rehearsal, in preparation of a coming tour with a band. We want to test mics, different placement, etc...

The idea is to record the rehearsals into Reaper, and then afterwards play back the multitrack from Reaper into the M32, and listen to it through the PA with the band. Afaik normaly, the recording is "dry" for every channel, but we want to set it up so the recording includes EQ, dynamics, effects, etc... So afterwards, when we listen, we can make some adjustments together, hear different mic's etc.

So the first question is; is this possible? And the second one is: how? I took my time to search for this already, but I haven't found an answer to this specific question.

    Thanks in advance!

Rex Beckett You can do this but it may not be very helpful. The default routing takes the recording feed directly after the preamps and A/D converters - so with no processing. When you play the redording back, it enters the channels at the same point. This allows you to make adjustments to channel processing as if playing live. If you record using signal taps that include some/all of the channel processing, when you play back you will hear the processing applied twice. It will be very difficult to decide how the original channel settings should be changed.

If you want to do it anyway, you need to use the Out 1-16 and Ultranet tables to set the required signal taps for all the channels you are using. Then change the Card routing to select these tables instead of the direct channel inputs.

Gerold VT Hi Rex, thanks for the fast reply. I indeed forgot that when playing back, it enters at the exact same point. I was making it way too complicated for no reason . Thanks again!

George Dougherty Record your tracks raw, store snapshots that correspond to markers in Reaper as you change things up. That will allow you to adjust settings while you work with the band later.

I tried to open Scene Parser in Catalina 10.15.6 and it said the app needs to be updated.

Is there a new version available? I don't see anything.

I enjoyed/appreciated greatly, using scene parser to create some very effective / needed snippets that cannot be created thru the regular interface.

    Any input is appreciated.

Paul Vannatto Hi Troy, the current version was released back in January, just before Apple stopped supporting 32 bit apps. I compile the Mac version on an old Macbook Pro (2008) that someone loaned me (longterm). This summer I learned how to compile 64 bit apps on that Macbook. So I will update the OSX package to include both 32 bit and 64 bit apps (with the current 1.14 version, since I don't have any bug fixes or new features at this point). I'll let you know when it is available on sourceforge.net

I have a snippet in firmware 3.1.1? that worked recalling only the master fader L/R to 0.0 -

It does not work in 4.0.2

I saved a new snippet in 4.0.2 with the master fader at 0.00 and recalled it and there was no effect on the master.

Is this possible to do? (don't ask why =), it's needed....

    Appreciate any input

TroyKrueger Hi Paul, double checked. The word safe, on the config/home tab is greyed out. No safe on the master as far as I can see.
The old snippet does not effect the master level, nor does a newly created snippet that has fader level/pan under parameters and L/R under MTX/MAIN selected.

TroyKrueger Hey Paul, =) , you ARE the man... I'm very curious if this works on our desk. I'll be off for a week, going on a retreat... but I'll be serving on Oct 4 and will certainly report back. THANX... Oh, btw, IF you get a chance, can you verify that you can MAKE a snippet on the console thru the regular mechanism and that it works to 0 the master fader. IF you can, then something is amiss with our desk... what would one do... reset? reinstall? , just checking in advance.... all good man, totally appreciate your help as always.... top notch.... cheers

Paul Vannatto Hey Troy, that snippet will work on your console. Regarding trying to make a snippet using the X32 GUI snippet, I rarely use that interface, since I'm spoiled with Scene Parser =). But hey, since I'm retired, I now have some time to give it a try.

We are using Midas M32 mixer with p16 In ear monitors and some of the band still don’t have enough volume is there a way to make a mixbus with this to help them out

    • Scott Griffey
Gary Higgins There are 3 levels of volume control on them, are they aware of all 3 of those settings? The one that is most often missed is the Main level. The 16 individual ch’s are volume adjusted, then they adjust the overall volume knob (“level”knob top right). They skip the “main” button selection and increasing the volume knob for it first before adjusting the overall volume. These things are capable of getting very loud.

    • Scott Griffey
TroyKrueger Just mentioning, the limiter knob should be all the way clockwise for off, it may. E all the way ‘down’ counterclockwise and this would be limiting the crap out of the headphone mix, maybe that’s it.

    • Scott Griffey
George Dougherty Good feedback on the P16 volume adjustments. I start with the output at 3 o'clock and the main channel volume maxed. This seems to give everyone enough volume to put together a usable mix, including our heavy handed drummers.
The other issue I frequently see is a little harder to correct because it's caused by a certain mixing approach and mix engineers can be opinionated about gain structure.
I fall strongly in the "set your channel gains and let faders fall where they will" camp. It's always worked well for me and I've filled in at churches where the musicians comment on how much easier it was to mix their ears when they have plenty of signal.
In a specific case I know the regular mixer and he's part of the "set your faders at unity and turn the gains up enough to build your mix. It works fine for the house, but it gives the Avioms/P16's insufficient signal in my experience.
If you are going to set gains with faders at unity, make sure the rest of the system gain structure is such that you must run your channel gains hotter. IMO, you'll still have issues with instruments that are already loud in the room, but most of your channel gains will be hot enough for mixing ears.

    Title says it all.

When I make a DCA 'safe' under the channel safe tab. It still respects and changes to the level of the snapshot being fired.

Must be that the 'children' faders are safe??

Is there an easy way to exclude a DCA in a recall so it stays where it is?

Kyle Johnson Hi Troy, Kyle here with Music Tribe. If you have DCA1 Safed under Channel safes, and you load a Scene file, DCA1 should not change. If you are loading a Snippet however, the selected parameters would change even if the channel is safed.

TroyKrueger thanx Kyle, I'm loading a scene file, the DCA does change. The L/R is channel safe also but does not change, as it should. So the LR behaves correctly, the DCA does not,,,, none of the DCA's behave, (I checked 1 other one.... this Sunday, I'll check all 8, but for sure, DCA 1 and DCA 8 respond to a scene restore - which they should not.

I am looking for a way to interface with Thunderbolt 3 from UAD Luna recording software running on Mac Mini and stack of UAD hardware (2 Apollo x8p and 1 MKII) from Midas M32R. The objective is doing live recording using Luna and using UAD plug-ins for live performance.

Would greatly appreciate any pointers for this set-up. Due to the distance of the set-up of two stations (M32R and UAD equipment are not co-located), the long ADAT run is not feasible (more than 15').

    Thanks!

    Hello,

I've posted previously about having an issue with seeing the channel names broadcasted to the DP48 while using an SD8 with the Behringer X32 Compact. The community has helped with understanding the AES50 A & B streams. However, I still need help from the community to answer this question.

Should the DP48 see the broadcasted channel names when connected to an SD series digital snake or should I be using the S or DL series digital snakes?

What I've experienced is that the DP48 does not see the broadcasted channel name but does get the same channel setup and audio from the AES50 A side the snake box is setup on. When the DP48 is directly connected to a separate AES50 port on the mixer and NOT through the SD snake box, all the channel names are received including real-time name changes.  I've experienced this on the X32 Compact and WING mixers using the SD8 and SD16 stage boxes.

    Tribal help is greatly appreciated.

Gary Higgins Did you try going to the DP48 first, and then on from the thru port to the SD? Just a thought, I sort of recall that being said way back when. Or use them on a separate aes50 line. I’ve only scratched the DP surface so others may have better info. Also what firmware for the DP? Lots fixed either the most recent one.

Hi Guys, Im barely getting started to know this mixer and i have not been able to use thee wifi client. i followed indications and videos on youtube regarding connecting via ethernet and inputing the WLAN info, closing the app and turning off the mixer. When i turn it back on it does not detect the mixer unless i plug in the ethernet cable or switch to access point. Any suggestions reegarding this?

Wish they would come up with a new firmware that allows to control the mixer via the usb cable since i am already connected to my laptop for DAW

Gary Higgins Hello, so you have made your Wifi settings while you were actually connected to the MR18 in access point mode? Which software are you using to set things up?
      • Sep 13
      • MR18 unable to connect to WIFI Client
Arturo Santiago Hi Gary, i have tried it both ways, while on access point and connected to Ethernet. I am using M-Air Edit on a Mac laptop. My steps were: 1: connect via ethernet or access point (connect successful). 2: on the WLAN tab input my network name and password selecting WPA2 and hit apply. 3: Quit the app, turn off the mixer. 4: Change the remote button to wifi client, turn on the mixer, start the app back up again. After this nothing happens the app stays in searching for a mixer. When i check the WLAN tab my network info is still there.

    • Arturo Santiago
Paul Vannatto Regarding your question about the mixer control via USB, that will not be possible. The X-Air and X32 is externally controlled using the OSC protocol, which sends/receives commands via ethernet (UDP) only (see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Open_Sound_Control)

David Stackhouse Arturo, are you using an external router? I had an issue connecting with an external router... spent many hours trying to figure it out with the help of some good folks here. In the end it turned out to be something stupid - I had plugged the ethernet cable from the MR18 to the internet port on the router. It's supposed to go into one of the ethernet ports. As soon as I made the switch it worked like a charm.
