I have 2 RCF Subs and 2 RCF HDM45A's for tops. I use the 110hz crossover in the subs and connect the tops to each sub output.

What other ways can I set this system up that may offer me more flexibility for level/eq/compression control? Thanks, Shep

RexBeckett You could send the Main LR buses to Matrix buses and use the EQ in the Matrix buses to perform the crossover. The bus EQ includes Linkwitz-Riley 24dB/Octave filters which are good for crossovers. You could use a pair of stereo-linked Matrix buses for the tops and one or two mono Matrix buses for the subs. I use a single Matrix for subs so it sums the bottom end from both sides of Main LR.

Using Matrix buses in this way allows separate level, EQ, dynamics and delays for the top and sub outputs. Overall level and EQ can still be controlled using the Main LR bus controls.

JohnShepherd If the signal is eq split at the board, how do i get the separate signal to the sub/top separately?

RexBeckett You select the Matrix buses as the source for required slots on the Out 1-16 table and route the blocks to local or AES50 outputs. You would need three or four outputs in place of the two you are currently using.

On my venue's stage, I use 2 S16s on opposite sides of the stage. I use out 8 for stage R mains and out 16 for stage L Mains. Setup says I have to use 7-8 for LR as they are default. Unless I run a cable from my stage L (outs 9-16) all the way around to Stage right backline, I have to plug into an alternate output.

I guess the obvious is that I don't have FX 7-8 in stereo anymore. Beyond that, I don't know what else is affected. What is recommended I do to make my routing fully functional, if it's not by the way I've done this? 9 months later and I still feel like I don't get this console whatsoever.

RexBeckett I don't understand your problem, John. There should be no difficulty routing the Main L and R outputs to different S16s. This is done by staging on Out 1-16 and routing the Out blocks to the required AES50 lines.

RexBeckett FX can be inserted into channels, Mixbuses and Matrix buses. Stereo FX inserts require adjacent odd/even pairs of these. On the Out 1-16 routing tab, you are free to select any of the channels or buses for each output slot without regard for order.

JohnShepherd I am sorry i do not follow the signal path. Can you please detail the path? I have read the manual, watched dbb videos til I'm blue. I have a recording studio I can do routing even especially internally in the daw with easily. I have never seen anyone do a video where the main LR are not 7/8 (X32 compact) or X32 15/16 with V4. Again, I apologize that these concepts do not compute to me.

Paul_Vannatto Hey John, maybe I can help (thanks for the gift BTW). You need to separate in your mind the channel strip processing (gate, EQ, compressor, sends, pans, etc.) with the physical output assignments. Channel strip processing (including channels, mixbuses, matrixes, mains, etc.) are done in the digital realm and can be setup either mono or stereo. The physical output assignments (done in the Routing section) simply assigns these mono signals to a physical output. A stereo signal, such as Main LR is actually to mono signals of left and right. The left can be assigned to output 7 (on the Routing, Out 1-16) and the right can be assigned to output 16.

If you have 2 S16's, one needs to be configured as mode 1 (no LED's lit on front panel) and the other configured as mode 2 (Out+8 LED lit). That would make the second S16 output as 9-16. Hope that helps

RexBeckett Console and stagebox outputs may be connected to a wide range of signal sources within the mixer by routing. This is done in two or three stages:

First the signal source is selected on one of the sixteen slots in the Out 1-16 table. Sources can be the Main buses, Mixbuses, Matrix buses or direct channel outputs. In each case, there are optional signal taps within the signal paths. When more than sixteen output slots are required, the Ultranet and Aux Out tables can also be used.

The signals staged on the Out 1-16, Ultranet and Aux Out tables can now be routed to physical outputs. Basic routing handles the signals in blocks. The block size is four for the console's local XLR outputs and eight for stagebox outputs via AES50 or USB (Card) sends. Console firmware V4 added patching tables that allow User blocks to be assembled with individual signals from the basic blocks - thus overcoming the four or eight block-size constraints.

The bottom line is that, with V4 firmware, any console signal can be sent to any local or stagebox output.

Hobbes002 As an alternative, if you don't need more than 8 outputs: you can assign Out 1-8 to both S16s.

on the Behringer website, X32-Edit is now listed as a 'legacy' product. Does this mean it will be replaced with something else?

Paul_Vannatto I just checked on the X32 product page and the X32-Edit is not listed as a legacy product (under the Software section on the right). Where are you seeing this? I can assure you that it is not legacy status, since we are currently beta testing the next update.

      • X32-Edit replacement?
Paul_Vannatto Dale, look at the screenshot. That is the old X32-Edit interface (for firmware 1.x and 2.x) and is definitely legacy status. That page either needs to be updated with the current interface that was introduced with firmware 3.0 or that page should be removed. In the description, it also mentions XControl, which was the name of the app for firmware 1.x

      • X32-Edit replacement?
Paul_Vannatto That version of X32-Edit is not still current. The GUI interface is version 2.5 or older. X32-Edit needs to be version 4.1 in order to function correctly with current firmware (4.02).

    Hi,

I recently bought the XR18 digital mixer and I am trying to record drums with it. All of the dynamic mics that I have on the kit have sound coming through them but the two condenser overheads that I have arent picking up any sound. I believe this is because they don't have phantom power. When I was looking to buy the mixer, the websites said that it does have phantom power so how do I turn Phantom Power on so I can record with condenser mics.

    Thanks for your help,

    Daniel.

Hello, I'd like to know how to make suggestions for future updates to the WING firmware?  I haven't searched too hard to find out how to this, but I do have a few ideas I'd like to offer up.  I'm aware that this may have been discussed in another forum so please pardon me if I'm re-asking a common question.

    Thanks for the help!

    Hello,

I already wrote a post about this issue but I can't find it anymore. Anyway, I still have issues of compatibility with most of the USB drives I'm using. No issues on the X32 but on the Wing most of them are not working with the USB Player.

Please, this is becoming quite annoying.

    Thanks

Paul_Vannatto What are the issues? What drivers are you using? What OS are you using? The Wing USB drivers only access the USB signals out the back of the Wing, not the USB player. To access the USB player via USB, you will need to assign 2 (or 4) of the USB player channels to the USB Audio (outputs) in the Routing section.

MattiaCarrara Here is what I do: connect USB drive, add song (WAVE 2ch,16bit, 44.1kHz) to the list, press play, after a few seconds the LED near the USB connector starts blinking and the playback stops. The same file works on the X32 with the same drive. FW 1.08.

I know with the x32 and m32 some drives will not work for firmware updates. Changing the usb drive made all the difference more than a few times that I recall.

DaveMorrison Are you using an analog connection to your streaming device or are you using the Wing's USB port (or something else)? The Wing's latency is really low. Is the audio ahead or behind the video? What devices are you using besides the Wing?

DaveMorrison I agree with mjk. If the sound is early, it's an easy fix. The resolution on the delay is very fine so you can dial it in perfectly.

        KevinMaxwell We need more information.

What else was changed? Just putting a Wing in place of an analog mixer with nothing else in-between would not affect the audio and video sync enough to notice it. The propagation delay in a wing is less the 2ms and that isn’t noticeable in a video system. Unless you have some delay inserted somewhere in the signal chain to the streaming device.

But the delay in a video system is rather distracting. Have you ever noticed how much of a delay there is if you are watching live in the same room and they are projecting a camera shot of someone up on the stage to the screen.

What are you seeing and hearing that tells you it is off. The video delay is a lot worse than the delay in a digital mixer like the Wing. Even changing the monitor you are watching on can make a difference to you. Where are you noticing this difference? Is it after it has left for the internet or is it internal in your facility? What else has changed???

      Well1811 Subject: audio/video not syncing.
      We’re using a new wing
We have a canon vixia camera, we’re using the black magic ultra studio mini recorder connecting through hdmi, thunderbolt goes into the Mac and I noticed that the audio is about 2 seconds ahead of the video in the preview window. We use wirecast to stream and I have 16gb ram. 1080p is too much for it, we can kind get by with 720p at 30 frames per second.

KevinMaxwell What are you using as the output to feed the video? And where are you plugging the audio into the video system? Is all of this video equipment new, not just the Wing? If the audio is before the video you can just add delay to the Wing output to time align it.

There's any tutorials or help online how to step up Logic Pro X with the Wing my plan and idea is to record the music of my worship team I never done this before the set up from the beginning till the end

KyleJohnson The first step is to connect the USB Interface port on your WING to a USB port on your computer. It is recommended to connect directly to a USB port on your computer, not a hub or adapter.

In the WING SETUP>AUDIO menu make sure the USB Interface setting is set to 48/48, unless you want to only record 2 tracks, in that case set it to 2/2.

Open the ROUTING menu, OUTPUT tab
On the left side of the menu, open the USB Interface output page
Press the Lock button to Unlock the outputs
One by one, select the USB Output path you want to use, and then on the Right hand side of the menu select the signal you wish to record.
If you want to record directly off of the preamp of your WING or AES50 connected stagebox, select from the LOCAL or AES50 menus. If you want to record the Post Processing output of a channel, you should use the USER SIGNAL routing instead.
After you have setup all of your desired USB Output paths, the routing on the WING is done

Open Logic and create enough new tracks to accommodate the amount of USB outputs  you set up on your WING. Assign the inputs of those tracks to correspond 1:1 to the available WING USB inputs that show up in your DAW.
