A lot of you asked us for a USB/MIDI to CV/Gate interface for our Eurorack modular system.

Not only did we listen but also we designed it with a high-resolution 16-bit Texas Instruments converter so you get extremely accurate control voltages. We plan to deliver this module before end of year - of course as always at a very reasonable price.
We’re excited to see our Eurorack family is grow:-)

And one more thing. We have recently launched our Music Tribe market place where you can buy and sell equipment - all for free. Unlike eBay or Reverb, we take zero commission. Check out https://freemusictribe.com

Janis Robens Live recording Notes with Note Repeat on does not work for me :( Shame, that's the thing I've been looking forward to the most. Anyone here having more luck with it?

      • RD-8 Firmware 2.0 now live.
Janis Robens Update: I just tried it again with different step divisions and different voices. After mashing the buttons for a bit suddenly the repeats had been recorded. I could not repeat that though. So there seems to definitely be some kind of problem.

X32 rackmount digital mixer - fantastic sound.  With the covid thing our band has been on hiatus.  Getting ready to start up again - Is there a way to make sure that I have the latest greatest updates and upgrades with software and firmware for my x32 and digital snake? 709 pages of updates.  I can't seem to narrow th search down unless there are only 2 listed in total.  Seems to me last year the page for updates and upgrades had a very nice display of what would apply.

Paul Vannatto Steven, the digital snake comprises of 2 or more pieces. There is the AES50 cable that goes between the X32 and the stagebox, and the stagebox (or stageboxes) themselves. Which stagebox model are you using (there are many to choose from). Make sure the stagebox firmware is up to date as well.

Kevin Tisdall I'm finding that the link from Paul does not work. I get a 404 page not found error. Would like the newest x32-edit. Also, what version of the ipad x32 edit works properly with firmware 4.03 on the x32?

    Hello everyone,

I've connected a smartphone jack output into the input patchbay of a Behringer Crave and i played a waveform generator app to pilot some parameter on the Crave. Only after doing that i've read that the patchbay inputs have a maximal of voltage, so my question is: i've damaged the Behringer Crave doing this ? What is the maximal voltage output of a smartphone/tablet output if i set the volume at max ?

Rex Beckett Hi Luca, according to the Crave specifications, most of the patchbay inputs can take -5V to +5V. I have never seen a smartphone with a headphone output that high. I think +/- 3V is the most you would get.

      • Bheringer Crave's patchbay connected to smartphone
Luca Maneschi Very nice, thanks a lot for reassurring me. What is the method to calculate it if you know ?
        • Oct 24
      • Bheringer Crave's patchbay connected to smartphone
Rex Beckett The specification for the smartphone will usually show a value for maximum power (P) with a given headphone load impedance (Z). The peak output voltage can be estimated from SQRT(P x Z x 2) - where P is in Watts and Z is in Ohms.

Whenever i press the "Layer A" or "Layer B" button, while already being on that particular layer, the positions of all knobs is being reset. This happens on any DAW and any computer from the very beginning.

        m g Thank you.

Just to add: The midi values of the encoders are also reset, so turning one afterwards makes the knob in the DAW "jump". It makes it unusable for a live situation.

A workaround i found in Ableton Live is to disconnect and reconnect the controller so Live resends all the encoder positions.

I'm using some older version of Steinberg Nuendo (sorry I don't remember the V number).

Is there a setting in the XR18 that allows a keyboards MIDI "out" to be read by the MIDI "in" jack on this mixer? I have been to the setup page where you assign what the MIDI jacks do but it is a bit confusing and there's little documentation on this function. The manual talks a bit about using MIDI control but nothing about porting MIDI music streams (the original use for MIDI :).

I have the audio drivers and all is good BUT I can't seem to get any MIDI information into the DAW. It seems assigned correctly with Nuendo reporting it's active but so far no joy.

I'm using a pretty long MIDI cable (about 4-5 meters) that's worked just fine in my studio (with a different interface). With this long midi cable I usually get at least a little "noise" that can be filtered out but it shows up on a meter when the channel is in record mode. There's not even any noise present let alone actual MIDI signal.

AFAIK the keyboard should be outputting MIDI. It is is set to GM (General Midi). It's a Casio piece of junk (which is why I want to use different VSTi's for better sounds :). Unfortunatly the player is married to it so.......

Next possibility I can build a midi file based on what she plays but since I'm not a real keyboard player, this is very time consuming :(.

    Any ideas would be appreciated.

    Thanks

    • John Bogle
Rex Beckett Hi John, to use the XR18 as a Midi interface you need to enable USB-DIN Pass Thru. This can be done on X-Air Edit's Setup -> Audio/Midi tab while connected to the XR18.

      • Using an XR18 as an IO for a DAW including MIDI IO
John Bogle My X-Air setup looks a bit different however the parameters are the same. I did enable USB DIN Passthrough however I notice you don't have any of the other parameters checked. Don't you need to enable DIN RX to allow the DIN to receive MIDI? This is where it gets confusing as there is no documentation about what these features actually do (since the labels on the unit says "MIDI in" and "MIDI out" I'd think this was their normal state. Why is there a soft switch at all??? Thanks I'm going to try again in a couple of days. I will set up just as you pictured (no other parameters selected). I've also got another keyboard to check just in case the aforementioned Casio has some issue (possible). I plan on rebuilding my studio in the next year or so and may use this as my IO source. MIDI is pretty important in studio production and I'd rather not have to run a separate device (with extra drivers and all). I'll keep the forum posted as to the outcome. Cheers

      • Using an XR18 as an IO for a DAW including MIDI IO
Rex Beckett The other Midi parameters concern Midi control of the XR18 itself. This cannot be done when USB-DIN Pass Thru is being used. The two sets of options concern Midi through the DIN connectors and/or via USB. For your reference:
DIN/USB Rx enables the console to respond to Midi messages.
DIN/USB Tx enables the console to transmit Midi messages when control values change.
DIN/USB X-OSC enables the console to respond to OSC commands embeded in Midi SysEx messages.

Amr Soliman Unfortunately, the laptop has stopped working today
Please help, what are the good laptop specifications to use with the umc202HD and microphone to record the voice and what is the appropriate program for recording audio
      Is headphone necessary during recording?
      • Oct 24
      • Umc202hd
Rex Beckett It depends on what and how you want to record. Almost any modern laptop running either Windows or macOS should work with the UMC202HD if you get the correct USB cable. DAW software like Reaper is the most flexible but free software like Audacity can be used for simple recording tasks. Headphones are usually required if you are recording a new track through a microphone while listening to a previous recording (overdubbing).

    I am an Installer

Just did a new install and it worked OK, all of the first day. Turned it off and came back to do a conference the next morning.

It was OK for about 1/2 hour, but then it lost WiFi and could not get it back. Did a reset on the Pin-Hole with a paper clip.

Nothing. Did a second reset, and it came back to displaying a WiFi address on the tablet. But then of course, all the information from

yesterday was all lost. What is your thoughts on the

problem with this new X18-AIR  WiFi outputing.  Its very close to the tablet. Less than 10 feet.

Paul Vannatto If you are using the built-in wifi, don't. It uses the obsolete wifi-G technology and isn't reliable when cellphones, etc. are present. Instead switch the Ethernet setting and use a dual-band (or tri-band) external router instead (the 5Ghz band is preferable).

I'm having a problem with the L channel on the output side of the mixer sound is very distorted what could be the problem

    • GregoryKeith
Rex Beckett Hi Gregory, there are several possible causes. You may be able to locate the issue with a few tests:

Try reducing the output level with the Main LR fader to see if the distortion changes.

Disable the Compressor and any Inserted FX in the Main LR bus.

Temporarily route the Main LR bus to a pair of Aux outputs to see if the problem is with the physical output. See screenshot of X-Air Edit.
