Hello, new user trying to understand some basic signal flow through the XR18, I have attached a PDF with three screenshots showing faders and where I think they are on the block diagram if a more experienced user could take a look and see if I am on the right track that would be greatly appreciated. One additional question is where the green labeled FX returns tie in on the block diagram.  Thanks in advance.

Paul_Vannatto Hi Wade, first 2 are correct. The third (Pan) is not correct. Channel pan is in the CH 1-16 signal strip , far right (PAN LR). FX Returns are a separate signal strip below the CH 1-16 and Stereo LINE IN LR strips.

WadeGibbs Paul, thanks for the response, on the fx returns I couldn't see the forest for the trees. In the Main Stereo section where is the Balance fader in the block diagram. Thanks Wade

Paul_Vannatto Using X-Air Edit, the balance control is just above the scribble strip on the Main LR strip (far right), just like the pan control on a standard channel strip.

When I press record the line is just flat like I'm not recording anything I use garage band so my MacBook automatically recognizes the mixer without any kind of drivers

I have a Yamaha s03 keyboard that's connected to my UM2 which is connected to my Linux Mint 18 laptop.  It seems as though that Linux is not "completely" recognizing the UM2.  When I go into the sound settings and I play a note on the keyboard I can see the meter moving but no sound.  Also when I go to pavucntrl it shows the USB Codec but only "PCM" is available and that level is set all the way up.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Dear you BEHRINGER development team.

I always have thanks for great WING console.

    But,

When can we using official WING-EDIT  PC version like X32 EDIT ?

    And personal wish is here....

WING has so so so many PLUGINs in channels and FX racks.

But users only can view one plugin in one time.

So, If possible, in new WING-EDIT, user could view all running PLUGINS simultanously.

Especially about DYNAMIC processors, operator want to view gain reduction meters with INPUT OUTPUT levels.

    How about this....???

It'd be fun to have the 2600 respond to velocity (or bend, or aftertouch).  But the unit doesn't these things on any jack, so the only option is to patch in data from some kind of external device intercepting the MIDI data.  YUCK!  May I suggest a very simple firmware tweak?  Can you add a firmware parameter which states that, when in Mono mode only, the Upper Voice jack outputs as CV the value of one of the following:  (1) Note Velocity (2) Pitch Bend (perhaps positive and negative?) (3) Aftertouch or (4) an arbitary MIDI CC.  Note velocity and pitch bend are particularly useful here.  Obviously in Duo mode the Upper Voice jack has an important job; but in Mono mode it's useless and can be conscripted for this task.  This small change would greatly enhance the capabilities of the machine.

I'm trying to source some replacement parts for one of our X32's and having no luck at all. I've opened a ticket and it's not been responded to weeks later. On Trustpilot all the reviews are 1 star out of 5 with everybody raising the same issue of lack of contact and support.

Happy to do the repairs ourselves and even know the part numbers of what we need. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

    Hi guys,

I know this is basic, but I'm having trouble figuring this out.  I've got a vocal on channel 3 of my X32 rack and all I want to do is add reverb to it.  When I try to add it, I'm not hearing it in our in-ears (but can sometimes hear it through the mains).  So I'm sure I'm missing some setting in a bus somewhere or using the wrong tap point.

Could you please explain how to add reverb so that it'll come through the mains but also be heard in my monitor mix?  And if possible, please explain in a very step by step way because I'm not an expert when wrapping my mind around the use of busses or tap points.

    Thank you!

Paul_Vannatto FX returns are actual channels and can be treated as such. They are located beside the Aux In channels on the console. To send an FX return to the mains, simply unmute the FX return channel pair and raise the faders. To send the FX return to a mixbus (to your IEM), simply turn on the FX return channel pair sends and raise the faders.

DD1201 Paul, I'm also struggling with this. FX on the Main L/R no problem. On a mixbus (for in-ear monitoring), I see that I can turn on and raise the FX return channel pair sends (I'm using FX2L/R and FX3L/R) and I do get the effects in that mixbus. However, when I do that I no longer can adjust the volume for that channel in the mixbus - all the signal is coming from the FX return pair. Can you suggest what I'm doing wrong?? Thanks.

Paul_Vannatto Hi David, the channel sends of the mixbus to your IEMs do not affect the mix to the FX itself. The reason is that the FX is fed by its own mixbus (FX2 typically uses mixbus 14). This means that the wet return is a mix of that mixbus (14), not of the mixbus you are using for your IEM. So if you have the FX returns volume relatively high and you lower the dry signals, you will hear more of the wet mix. The quick solution is to keep the FX returns (wet) as low as possible, just enough to cut the dryness of the mix. If that isn't going to work for you, consider investing in some DP48 personal mixers, which has reverb, ambient mics, etc. built in and each unit can provide access to 48 channels (via AES50) and 2 mixes.

    Hi All.

I'm thinking of switching to Wing from X32. I have a question about snapshots and input routing. Is it possible to switch Sources to channels in the form of snippets or scenes? For example if I have 64 channels of Dante but only 48 inputs, can I have a snapshot where channels 1-10 are card inputs 1-8 and then another snapshot where channels 1-10 are card inputs 51-60?

I saw a Behringer Knowledge base video suggesting that channel input routing is not included in snapshots, but that was over a year ago and I wondered if this may have changed? I'm guessing I could do it via OSC and move the whole preset management to an external PC, but I'd prefer to have a 'one box' solution if possible.

    Thanks

Paul_Vannatto The Wing snapshot is equivalent to the X32 scene. But the Wing snapshot saves all settings (that video you referred to is incorrect), whereas X32 scenes saves most settings. Snapshots can be exported and imported to/from files that are in the JSON format. They are currently working on developing a show management feature for the Wing which hopefully will include snippet-like functionality, but no ETA at the moment.

In the meantime, I have learned that you can extract portions of a snapshot file to make a snippet-like snapshot file, just be removing everything you don't want changed. This understanding resulted in an external toolbox that I called Wing Snipshot Toolbox (snipshot is my term for a snippet of a snapshot) and can be downloaded from Sourceforge.net. Included is the X/M32 scene to Wing snapshot converter, an AutoMix tool and a JSON editor. With the JSON editor, you can load a good known snapshot file (exported from the Wing) and remove all unwanted sections to make the modified snapshot file that can be imported into the Wing.

Yes you can do all of this online (connected to the Wing) using OSC, just like you can with the X32/M32. For that reason, I have ported my X32 Live Toolbox for the Wing (called Wing Live Toolbox - found on Sourceforge.net). Live Toolbox has snippet-like functionality called tidbits.

      • Wing Snapshot Input Routing Scope
RichardABacon Thanks Paul. i did think it strange that input routing wouldn't be included, as it's obviously not a hardware limitation. I've been playing around with the freshly updated TouchOSC which seems to have breathed a new lease of life into my X32 workflow (you can now trigger a unlimited number of OSC commands and requests, and other useful stuff such as running lua scripts, all from a single button press).
On a separate note, I see the Dante card is now available for the Wing. Are there plans to release MADI and ADAT cards, or are these now considered 'legacy' interfaces?

    • RichardABacon
Paul_Vannatto Hey Richard, that's good to hear that they have updated TouchOSC to be more functional. I have not heard anything about MADI or ADAT card development. But anything is possible.
