    Hi Guys!

this is my first post here.

I would like to ask if how long midas service center can repair/replace parts?

    1. Just serviced my m32 today and they dont know when the mcu will be available.

    2. One friend is currently waiting for m32 mcu replacement for 2 months

    3. other friend is waiting for months as well for Dl32 repair.

December is the most awaited months in 1 year to make profit but our equipment is not yet ready and waiting for repair.

    Thank you in advance!

    Anthony

Hi. I’m having trouble diagnosing a really strange fault.

    My setup:

M32r connected to DL32 via aes50A ports. All inputs on the DL32 arrive on the correct channels on the M32. But channels 17-24 are behaving strangely. Sometimes when I switch phantom power on or off on one of these channels, it can cause a surge through some of the other surrounding channels between 17-24, disrupting their gain permanently, and turning off their phantom power. Sometimes when I turn phantom power on or off on one of these channels, it doesn’t even get a response from the dl32. Turning up the gain knob on channel 24 on the desk, also caused the surrounding channels to take a dramatic drop in signal level and lose phantom power.

I’ve factory reset the console, and updated it to the latest firmware. I’ve also tried different cat5 cables.

Any ideas? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks!

Paul_Vannatto Are the firmware of both M32R and DL32 up to date? Is the AES50 synchronisation solid green between the console and stagebox?

Some "outlets" are listing both of these as DISCONTINUED but they are still in the online catalogue and to discontinue either of them unless they are to be replaced by Behringer "equivalents" seems very sort sighted.

Is this true and if so what is to be their replacements.  We have an M32 currently and were intending to add an MR18 to expand the flexibility on stage ie passing the output of the MR to a pair of channels on our DL and "recovering" 14 channels on the main board and mixing the MR from an iPad next to the main desk (it will mainly contain a drum sub-mix, so once set won't change much)

If we can no longer do this, please suggest alternatives.  We were hoping to remain "brand matched" so had not contemplated the Behringer XR18.

    Thanks

Paul_Vannatto Hi John, most "outlets" no longer carry the Music-Tribe product due to the change in distribution model. Now only super partners (Sweetwater in US, Cosmo Music in Canada, Thomann in Europe, Anderton in UK and of course Amazon) are official outlets. Most of these outlets show 6-12 weeks wait for MR18 stock (due to the global chip shortage and ongoing supply chain issues). An alternative is to get a Behringer SD16 stagebox, which seems to be in stock. Granted, the preamps are Midas designed (instead of Midas pro). But if it was used for non-critical inputs (eg. not vocals), you probably won't notice the difference.

Midas M32R live with Klark Teknik DN32 live

Is it possible to playback a multitrack from Reaper and record (at the same time) the tracks seperately on the SD card of the DN32 live?

Playback from Reaper shows up in the mixer (audible and on meters) and recording on the internal sd card recorder of the M32R live is running. File shows up after recording (32 ch), but doesn't contain audio.

    Alternative;

Is there a way to load multitrack files (from Reaper or other DAW) onto the SD card, so that they can be playbacked from the mixer's recording card?

    Cheers Arnoud

Hi, I have 2x 100m ethercon reels that I need to link to interconnect an M32 with a DL251.  Unfortunately, I cannot find one anywhere.

    1. Can anyone help me to locate a DN9610?

    2. Is there another solution, such as using a network bridge DN9650?  Have you tried this & succeeded?

    3. Can a stage box be used in line as a repeater, with a DL151 or DL153, for example?

    Thank you,

GaryHiggins I believe the answer to 3 is no, the blue series stage boxes can’t be daisy chained. It’s one box per aes50 line. I believe you can use a mixer like an m32c or x32core to do that. The black series DL boxes can be daisy chained but not used as repeaters afaik

Paul_Vannatto 3. Yes a stagebox can be used as a repeater. One of the events I've been doing (pre-pandemic) is the finish line of a 5K/10K marathon which requires 750 feet of speakers. I use 2 X32 Racks, 2 SD8 and an SD16 for repeaters and it works well.

:Edit: Gary is correct. I forgot about the limitations of the blue series stageboxes.

aurasystems Has anyone tried this over fiber? I have a 600' single mode fiber run that breaks out into cat5 ports on each end. I have not tested it yet though. My understanding is that it won't work.

      • Need a KT DN9610 to Extend AES3 Signal
KevinMaxwell https://www.klarkteknik.com/product.html?modelCode=P0ASK but it works with Multi-mode fiber. "A pair of DN9620 units allow up to two AES50 connections (48 or 96 bidirectional channels channels at 96 kHz or 48 kHz sample rates respectively) to be extended by up to 500 metres via multimode optical fibre"

    Hi all -

I am working in a church and have been using the M32 for several months with generally excellent results, but have one persistent issue that I can't figure out. We are using the main LR bus for the livestream and Mix Bus 1 for FOH (which is mono). The setup is relatively simple in that we are not mixing drums or a rock band. It's generally choir, piano, vocals, sometimes a string quartet, pipe organ and the minister's mics.

The issue is that I am getting what seems to be bleed into the Main LR bus from Mix Bus 1. Example: vocalist on channel 17 using a wireless mic. Without sending that channel to the Mix Bus everything works fine and the fader conpletely controls the signal. But when I also the send that same channel to the Mix Bus, with the channel fader all the way down I still hear signal from that mic in the Main LR bus. When I stop sending the channel to Mix Bus 1, the "bleed" signal in the Main bus goes away. The amount of the "bleed" signal is not insignificant and affects our ability to balance the livestream mix - during a live service recently we had to pull one vocalist's fader completely out of the Main mix to get the right balance - at that point all of his signal was coming only from the apparent "bleed" signal.

I have checked and re-checked the routing and neither the channels nor Mix Bus 1 are being sent anywhere else that I can find. The only outs we are sending are Main LR bus, Mix Bus 1 and one Matrix send going to another part of the church. We are not using any FX - the room has a great natural reverb so we are just blending in room sound with OH mics (which are not being sent to Mix Bus 1). I have also checked and re-checked what is being sent to Mix Bus 1, but I get the same result even using just 1 mic with everything else muted.

I would greatly appreciate any thoughts/help with this!

    Thanks, TC

Paul_Vannatto What you describe is a parallel signal path issue. What I would suggest is to export the scene to a file (either using the Utility button on the X32 and save to a USB stick, or use X32-Edit), save it to the cloud (eg. Google Drive, Dropbox, etc.) and provide the shareable link in your next post. We can have a look at it (using X32-Edit) and better advise.

Paul_Vannatto One question, is there a particular reason why you have the livestream being fed by Main LR and FOH by a mixbus? To me that is backwards. My church also does livestream and FOH on the same console. Mixbus 9/10 (stereo pair) feeds the livestream.

Thanks Paul - will do. We set it up with the mixbus as FOH because (1) it’s only a mono PA and (2) when we set up the M32 we were in Covid and the livestream was the only thing happening. We now have one person controlling FOH with an iPad in the room and one person in the booth mixing the livestream. The livestream remains very important - about one-third of members are coming back in person now but the livestream audience is substantial. Will let you know when I post the scene - much appreciated!

Nigel67 Hi Rota1. Are you using a USB hub. If so, can you plug the USB cable directly into the Mac. Some USB hubs can cause connection issues. Also make sure that you are plugged into a USB2 compatible port. Try the other ports on your MAC. Is the MAC definitely disconnecting and reconnecting and not just the audio buffering?

If you go into System Preferences, and then click on Sound.  This will open a new window that has three tabs called Sound Effects, Output and Input.  Select the Input tab as this is where you are selecting the source of the audio coming into the Mac.  In the box below it, you should then have a choice of microphone or the MR18.  This should be selected to MR18.  When the signal stops, does the MR18 disappear from the device box and then re-appear? Below this, is an input level meter.  If you play audio from the mixer (via an input) through the USB connection then you should see the bargraph going up and down with the audio.  You may have to turn the gain up on the input  to get enough gain to see the meter moving, but as long as the main mix meters on the console are lighting up (around 0), it should make the meter light on the Mac.  Can you see the meter freezing when the audio cuts out or does it continue to move?  If it does continue to show on the meter then the USB is most likely working and you may have a set up issue with the DAW.  Do you have another computer that you can try? Have you upgraded the MR18 to V1.18 and the EDIT software to 1.7. Do you have the EDIT software running on the MAC at the same time? If so, try closing it and seeing if the problem persists. Is the MR18 or MAC new? Was the MR18 working fine with the previous computer?

Dale_M Hi there, try a few simple things, try another USB cable, if using an adaptor for the MAC try using an official Apple one as clones can be unreliable, failing this try connecting to another PC/MAC and see if the fault follows the unit.

    Hello everyone!
I work with the MR18 on the Mac OS Mojave system. Installed the new version of M-AIR-EDIT 1.7 and was saddened. Everything slows down. Any of my actions with the virtual mixer starts only after what time (small delay). On Windows everything works quickly and without delay. When I had version 1.5, then everything worked without delay. Maybe M-Air-EDITE 1.7 is not suitable for OS Mojave?

Nigel67 Hi VadimTamaev. Upgrading should not make any difference to the speed at which the Edit software runs. It could be the Mac itself, how old is it? Have you upgraded the MR18 to 1.18 as well? Can I suggest removing the Air Edit software completely from the Mac and then doing a clean re-install again. Can you also try downgrading again to the previous version and seeing if that works fine still. If you go to the link below, select MR18 in the Product tab and Software in the Type tab, and then tick the box labelled Show All Versions, then the previous versions of MR18 and EDIT firmware will show up for you to download and install.

Nigel67 I have been talking to the software team, and they advise that the issue could well be with your Mac processor. It may not be fast enough. It appears that the V1.7 is using the latest application framework and this possible requires a faster CPU than installed in the MAC that you have.

VadimTamaev Hi Nigel67. Thank you very much for your response. I have Mac Mini 2012. This is probably due to the processor. I will try with another version of the application (V1.5). Thanks again! Good luck and all the best!

    Hi,

we use X32 to feed some P16M and some DP48. To let the drummer make his own mix (with DP48) I route some of the AES50 input channels to user-out-patch 17 to 24. In library editor AES50 page on X32 I can see the channel names (eg. kick, snare, ...) but on DP48 these names do not show. Is this by design or do I miss something?

Paul_Vannatto Are you referring to the channel names or group names? Channel names should show up in the Assign and Edit screen. If they don't, make sure the X32 firmware is up to date and if you are passing through a stagebox, make sure its firmware is also up to date. If you are referring to the group names, they can be assigned in the Library, AES50 screen in the 12 spots on the left. Once they are entered, as well as the channel assignments, then set the DP48 to slave, then broadcast to the A or B (AES50 that you have the DP48 connected to the X32).
      • Nov 22
    • AndreasKormann
AndreasKormann It's the channel names that are missing. The name for other channels (eg. P16 33 to 48) show up. I'm quite sure that X32, S16 and HUB4 are on latest firmware, but will check when I'm back at our rehearsal room.

    • AndreasKormann
Paul_Vannatto Hi Hexagon01, I would suggest that you bypass the Hub4 and see if you are getting the same thing. If not, I would suggest you update the Hub4 firmware. There were some previous firmware issues that prevented the channel data to pass to the DP48
      • Nov 22
    • AndreasKormann
Paul_Vannatto Hey Andreas, I just reread your post. Sources do not have channel strip data (eg. name, color). So if you assigned AES50 sources to the User Out patch, then assigned that bank of 8 to the AES50 that feeds the DP48, there will not be any channel info. Only assignments from the channel strips themselves (using the DirOut Ch assignments of the Out 1-16, P16 or Aux Out screens) will include the scribble strip info (name, color).

FYI if you do want/need a console that does provide name/color info from the sources, get a Wing.

I downloaded the newest file from your website and it ends with .update so I think I have the correct file. What is wrong? Please help me Best regards Oskar

    • OskarGraff
GaryHiggins Also, make sure that there are no other firmware files at the root directory, make sure you have extracted the file beforehand. After 4.0 you can select from available firmware files, pretty sure before that there can only be one. Even if I’m mistaken it’s worth the effort to try that. Sometimes it’s just the particular thumb drive that will not work, I had that issue once, changed to another manufacturer and all was good.
