Hi! I got my Plethora X5 as soon as it was available in Europe (around April/May) and have been using it ever since, so far I'm very happy with it (and the new 1.2 update only makes it better).

However, lately I've been noticing that the foot switches are becoming scratchy and harder to press - especially the ones that get pressed more often (1, 2 and 5 in my case). Is there any kind of maintenance that I should do, or could this indicate an issue with my particular unit?

taborda I found another thread (https://community.musictribe.com/discussions/178967/307703/plethora-x5-footswitch-no5-starting-to-get-friction) where a different user has complained about the same problem. His Plethora developed issues within the first month so he was able to replace it with a new one, I don't think I have that option anymore. I'll open a support case as this sounds like a known issue.

ChrisEdwards1 Hi Pedro, have you yet submitted a technical support case for this issue? If not i would recommend doing so and supplying a link for a video to allow the team to get a visual/audible understanding of the issue. Please feel free to share the case number with me once created and I will ensure it is picked up.

taborda Hi Chris, thanks for the reply! I've raised a technical support case for this with the number CAS-405391-F3P0F0 . I will try to record a video tomorrow to showcase the issue but I'm not sure it will be very easy to demonstrate, as the problem is about how the footswitches feel (scratchy, not smooth and frictionless) when pressing. Please let me know if there's any specific thing you'd like to see to help you figure out the problem.

ruezz I have this same problem and started a ticket and got no real help other than being told to send it in for repairs, which isn't feasible as my entire pedalboard is tied into the X5. Just be prepared to not get any answers to your problem.

      • Plethora X5 footswitches becoming scratchy
taborda I'm in the same position, the X5 is the main centerpiece for my whole pedalboard, but if there's a time to send it for repairs it's now (no gigs/practice sessions because of COVID). It's interesting that there's already a few people complaining about the same issue while I never had any problems with other TC mini pedals I previously owned (HOF, Flashback, Hypergravity). I wonder if they changed components for the Plethora.

taborda After a review of my support case I was advised to send my unit to Thomann for a repair under warranty (I purchased it there). I sent it today, I will post an update here once I get it back (hopefully fixed and good as new ?).

No problems beaming toneprints from my new iPad, but when I tried to create my own it was a disaster.  I used the cable that came with the pedal, connected to my iMac, and then after I tried sending a toneprint, the pedal was all screwy.  The slot I was on had no signal at all, the two other slots were all crazy, and the stock delays were all blank.  I unplugged the unit and plugged it back in, seemed to be back to normal, so I tried again with the computer hookup, and the same thing happened.  It's like it fried the pedal.

Now I'm afraid it's permanently damaged.

    Thoughts?

      TC-Marcus Howdy Herman!
      Sorry to hear that.
I suggest making sure that your pedal runs the latest FW. Currently that is version 1.2.00.

You can get it here https://www.tcelectronic.com/tcelectronic/product?modelCode=P0CKR and instructions on how to update can be found under "Documentation" -> "Flashback 2 1.2.00 Firmware Upgrade Guide English"

Also, make sure that you run the latest version of the TonePrint app, currently that should be 4.4.3 which you can get here or in your app store
      https://www.tcelectronic.com/product.html?modelCode=P0CLC

Then try again. Let me know how that turns out.

Hoodrio Pedal seems to be working normally again after unplugging everything and plugging back into my chain (not the USB). Frankly, after that experience I don't think I'll ever be risking connecting this pedal to anything via USB again. Thanks for your response!

TC-Mike Hi Herman, the app/editor should work fine. Please remember that after storing your custom Toneprint to one of the 3 TP slots and disconnect from editor the settings you hear are the Potmeter settings on the pedal and not the parameter values you added last in the editor .

Hoodrio So, the pedal is definitely fried - it goes from working normally to having literally nothing on the factory settings. In other words, you can be getting a normally DYN delay, switch to Tape, and get ZERO Delay, knobs do nothing.

    Hi,

I'm trying to get my Konnekt 8 to work on firewire with an iMac running High Sierra. I know I'm not the only one having problems with that - but right now I am hoping that the 3.6.1-driver will help me.

But - it isn't anywhere on the TC website even though they do mention it at least once in the software release notes...

    HELP me, please... :-)

Hello, I have my Plethora for 5 days now and I enjoy it a lot. The new update is great.

But I miss 2 things : be able to see the values when using the Hot Knobz, maybe it is possible to show the 3 values for the Knobz as

    soon as you tweak them.

be able to sync the tempo via midiclock.

    Thank you for your work.

    Cheers from Belgium

TC-Mike HI Christian, thanks for the feedback . "Midi clock sync" is already on the feature request list for 1.3 update and has currently a lot of votes. the HOT KNOBZ parameter display feature is also already logged as a feature request and has been noted by other customers as well ranking on 3rd place for UI improvment feature requests..

     Hi,

I recieved my PX5 & I am unable to get the tuner screen to come up.  Any suggestions? I have pressed down and held the button that says "Press to select" (upper right hand corner of peddle) & nothing happens.

In addition, I downloaded the latest firmware, but it doesnt seem to sink up whith the X5. Do I have to drag and drop it anyware?

Im not sure if I need the earlier firm ware updates, to get the latest update to load. Could this be part of the problem?

    I would apprecite any feedback.

    Thanks,

    Jared

TC-Marcus Short answer: See the attached update instructions. For full release notes check under "Software" here
      https://www.tcelectronic.com/product.html?modelCode=P0D9M
Latest firmware is 1.2 which contains a bunch of new stuff, among others the looper, Helix Phaser, Viscous Vibe and some other nice features. For the full list, again, check the release notes.

      Slightly longer answer:
On your X5, try checking your current fw version by going to
      Edit mode -> Settings -> Global -> About -> Firmware -> Version "x.x.xx"
What does your "x.x.xx" say ?

The tuner was introduced in version 1.1.43 so if your pedal has a version lower (earlier) than this, that explains why you cannot access it.

      Hope that helps

TC-Mike in the new 1.2 firmware you can customize how to call up the tuner and eg disable triple click via Footswitch 5 etc , which i always do. Gestures for Board switch can also be customized in 1.2

The URL given in the manual does not lead to anywhere that has toneprints for BH250. Can anyone tell me the correct one? There are no BH250 toneprints at tcelectronic.com/bh250/toneprints, which redirects to https://tcelectronic.com/tonePrints/tonePrint-library.html . Loads of pedals there but no bass amps.

The 1.2 upgrade is overall pretty awesome and it's very cool that feateures continue to be added. I have pretty basic Looper needs so was hoping the Plethora looper would be able to replace a separate looper pedal; however there seems to be no way send a midi command for it to STOP, similar to double tapping the Plethora Looper itself. To be clear, I'm trying ot go from recording a loop to having it paused for future playback. If you send a PAUSE command to the Looper while recording, it starts playing immediatly and I've tried various other midi command sequences to get it to STOP with no luck.

Is there a way to do this or can I request it for the next release?

Thanks so much for continueing to improve the product.

lyounkins I second this request. The function of the Pause CC command could be changed (and perhaps renamed to Stop) to terminate the loop and stop playback if recording or simply stop playback if playing. Right now, there's no way to stop a loop while recording without playing it back. Another nice feature to have would be a playback fade as is implemented in the Ditto X4 looper.

TC-Mike thx, we have this already logged as a feature request and i agree it is a bit misleading as the "pause" function resets playback to Loop start.

The Ditto+ looper product page does not have a manual for download, only the quickstart guide. Is there a manual available?

    Hi,

I have updated my new X5 with the latest firmware and it all seems to work except the tuner. When I triple click the 5th button I can see the tuner screen but when I play a string it is dead ... no signal from the guitar seems to registering in tuner mode. It plays fine when not in tuner mode. Does anyone know what the answer is?

    Thanks.

TC-Mike the triple click gestures for tuner and board up/down can be enabled/disabled in the product settings menu . By default the Tuner can always be called up by pressing and holding TONEPRINT encoder

      TC-Marcus Hey there!
      Sorry to hear that.

I suggest you delete all folders from the pedal (backup the ones you need, if any).
      - Then remove usb.
      - Wait until pedal has rebooted.
      - And then insert usb again
      - And then try transferring a file with a supported format

The list of supported formats are

Only .wav in these specific formats
      • PCM mono 16bit @ 44.1kHz
      • PCM stereo 16bit @ 44.1kHz
      • PCM mono 24bit @ 44.1kHz
      • PCM stereo 24Bit @ 44.1kHz
      • PCM mono 32bit @ 44.1kHz
      • PCM stereo 32bit @ 44.1kHz
      • Float mono 32bit @ 44.1kHz
      • Float stereo 32bit @ 44.1kHz

Related questions: can you record normally with the pedal, i.e. when not using a backingtrack?
If the problem persists, please write again.
