     Hi there,

I've been using a Voice Live 2 in the studio and a Voice Voice Live Touch 2 for live performances.

I start to miss some features on the Voice Live Touch 2, more specifically the just Intonation setting and midi notes 4chan.

I've read in the manual of the Voice Live Touch 1 that it does midi notes in 4chan but Just Intonation is not mentioned. However in this video of this editor

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nB7n4Gf5Jj0

there is a tap for the "Tuning" Parameter set to Equal. This for me indicates that it is possible to set the Voice Live Touch to Just Intonation. Would somebody mind clearing this up? Is it that this feature is somehow hidden in the sysex implementation?

      Hey @SimonSchmidt,
Yes indeed that "Tuning" parameter in the Harmony block is hidden away in sysex land.  We don't typically share sysex manuals, but this product is so old... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯  I've attached it for you.  At sysex offest 22 you'll see there's a "Harmony Tuning" parameter which is probably what you're after.  It looks like it has 3 possible values, without deeply digging into the code I can't tell you what those are... But in VoiceLive 3 the three tuning references are:  equal, just, and barbershop, in that order.  It might take some experimentation to figure out what they are in Touch 1, but hopefully this gets you on the right track.  Cheers!

I use a wireless Keytar for lead breaks, but the harmonies stop when I play the keytar. I have a sequencer track ready to go for the harmonies, but it won't change the harmonies. How do I set up the VLT 2 so the harmonies work from a sequencer track?

      Hey @AlanMinnear,
Can you please expand on what you mean by "sequencer track"?  Is this just a MIDI track with MIDI notes?  If that's the case, you can run it into the 5-pin MIDI input on Touch 2, and in the Harmony effect set the key to "Auto".  Cheers!

      Hello @Santhos31

Have you been successfull finding Vysor Editor for Voiceworks Plus yet?

It must have been available for free a while ago:

I really don't want to spend $159 on Midi Quest Essentials If this single program used to be freeware.

      Regards,

      Santhos31:

I just came across your post while doing a desperate search for a firmware update for my Voiceworks Plus Harmonizer unit. I was just able to find the original editing program that you may have been looking for so maybe there is a way that I can get it to you. I will attach a couple of screen shots of what it looks like on my Mac.  Also, if you have a Voiceworks Plus you might have one of the updates that I am looking for. My unit (which is virtually new and unused in the original box) still has the original firmware version of 1.01. I have not been able to find version 1.21 which I think is the last available update but perhaps you have it. Please let me know. I look forward to your reply!

      Pete

Hi, my question is as the title shows. Does harmony work with karaoke? Thanks!

      Hey @Eli,
Perfrom-VK gets its chordal info from a few sources: the MIDI input, the instrument input, the auxiliary input, and the RoomSense microphone.  Perform-VK dynamically switches between these sources - when one goes silent it'll start listening to whatever is giving it signal, with the RoomSense mic being the last resort.  So in your case you'd likely want to be sending the karaoke track to the auxiliary input, and as long as the track clearly represents the chords being played then harmonies will work great.  Our harmony algorithm needs to be able to hear at least the root and the third of each chord to properly identify what's being played - so for example a track of an acoustic guitar would be great, but a track of just drums likely wouldn't contain enough musical info and harmonies would sound weird.  Basically, yes it should work but it really depends on the track - that'll just take some experimentation on your part.  Cheers!

    Hello,

I bought a "Harmony Singer 1" a few years ago, and would like to switch to the second version. I'm in the process of making all my equipment for concerts "battery powered", and I saw this Harmony Singer 2 is able to do just that.

But I still need to know if it can work with rechargeable batteries, since they usually tend to have less voltage. I would also like to know for how long the pedal can run on batteries. How many hours would it be ?

    Thank you very much,

    Have a great day,

    Thibault

      Hey @RalfLeRenne,
I'll be honest with you, battery life ain't great.  I tested a Harmony Singer 2 with fresh AA's (non-rechargeable) and it lasted three and a half hours before dying.  I don't think batteries were intended to be the primary power source for these stomps, more like a backup.  When a 9V adapter is plugged in, the pedal will use that wall power and ignore the batteries, which then kick in if wall power is removed.  Anyways, I think Harmony Singer 2 has the worst battery life out of the bunch because it has the busiest algorithm, but yeah you might want to have a backup set of rechargeables.  Cheers!

I purchased a VoiceLive3. Gigged with it for a year. The power input socket went bad. Never left it plugged in while not in use. Needed a rig to gig.. so I bought a VoiceLive3 Extreme.. a year later the same thing happened. Is this a common/fixable issue? I’m a little disappointed in the quality vs the price I paid for these items. Please help.

This can just be the mechanical act of plugging/unplugging the power cord onto the unit. It should be more robust, I agree. I don't have a VL3, but a VLPE, and I put it on a pedal board witha PSU so I never have to plug/iunplug the power directly onto the unit.

      Hey @Ghia,
In VoiceLive Touch 2 you can have up to 9 favorite presets, and each of these favorites is mapped to one of the 9 buttons on the main 3x3 matrix.  You can't remove presets from favorites, you can just overwrite a favorite slot with a new preset for that slot.  To map favorites, navigate to the preset you'd like to add to your favorites, then press and hold one of the 9 matrix buttons to map the current preset to that favorite slot, it'll ask you to confirm and that's it.  Cheers!

Voicelive 3(X) Looper has three loop banks if understand correctly: Loop A, Loop B, and Loop C.  Is Loop C only accessible after using either A or B first and then using the SWAP function to activate it?  If I'm correct on this are there any plans on a new firmware update to make this obsolete and making access to Loop C more direct?  Every comparable loopstation (Headrush, RC-300) has direct access to the third loop without extra tap dancing.  That and the ability to Bounce a loop from one bank to another would be awesome!!!  ?????

You can use SWAP before recording anything to record into loop C, but you still need to use SWAP (which makes using all 3 loops hard).

As for updates, there have been no updates for the VL3X for 2 years, so the general feeling is that there are unlikely to be any (even with no replacement product in sight). I know that @TCH-Spencer continues to collect feature requests, but I've basically given up hoping.

Even if there was, I doubt that fundamentally redesigning the looper would be included. However, I'd love to be proven wrong.

      Hey @Mayaman72,
Provided you're on the latest firmware (366) you can hold the "Util" footswitch to begin recording directly into track C, or if track A is already looping you can press the same footswitch but it's labelled "Swap" and that'll record into C as well.  Page 136 of the manual covers the Swap button if you're interested.  Cheers!

    Hello guys.

I’ve recently purchased the VL3 extreme after my VLplay electric died. On this unit I see that you can import your backing tracks and play them directly from the unit. An awesome feature. However I play in a trio and we use some backing tracks with a click track. Is it possible to have the click track not go to the main mix and also have it heard through the IEM of the other band members? This is of course very standard procedure and without it playing backing tracks through the VL3 is kinda useless. Hope someone can help me out with this. Thank you.

      Hey @ajdaames,
There are couple options for working with a click track depending on how much you want to interact with your VoiceLive 3.  If you want to be pretty hands-off and automate effects, then a pre-made click track imported as a Backing Track is the way to go - make the track the length of your song and automate effect changes so you can just sing and not have to think about toggling effects.  But if you want to be more involved, you can use the metronome in the loop layer as a click, and you can manually toggle effects and even create loops quantized to the click.  The metronome can be synced with incoming MIDI clock too btw.

In either case, you can output the Backing Track or Metronome to just the VoiceLive's headphone output and remove it from the main XLR outputs pretty easily.  This is done in the "Mix" menu, which you access by going to the "Home" screen then tweaking any of the small four knobs below the screen, the "Main Mix" tab affects the two main XLR outputs so you'd just lower either the "Track" or "Metronome" level all the down to "Off" to remove it from the main outs.  The "Headphone Mix" tab obviously adjust the output of the 3.5mm headphone output so just ensure the "Track Level" or "Metronome" level is turned up there so it's heard by your band.  Cheers!
