I've posted about this before and never really got a satisfactory answer, so I'm hoping for a better result this time. I want to record loops to a particular preset so I can integrate it into live performance. The problem is that I record a loop, save it to (say) preset 20, which is fine. However, the saved loop is then on every preset, which is completely useless.......
Then, when the loop is erased, it comes back when the VL3 is switched off and back on again.
Someone suggested saving to a different slot within the loop but this doesn't work either. I want to save maybe 50 different loops to 50 different presets and I'm pulling my hair out trying to find a resolution. Can anyone help? Please ......?

What are your slot settings in the "looper" menu? Loops aren't saved to presets, but to one of the 50 loop slots; each loop slot saves loops A, B, and C. You can change your loop slot using the preset up down switches in the "UTIL" page in the looper. If you save the preset it will store the loop slot you had selected.

What likely happened is you had the same loop slot selected on multiple presets. Once you saved a loop to that slot, that loop was also selected on those presets.

Hope this helps, let me know if you have any questions!

      Hi TCH-Rob,

Many thanks for this. I’m kind of discovering this for myself. I got hold of the latest User Manual for the VL3 yesterday and it has a much better section on the subject than the older manual I was trying to work from.

I’ve got the basic gist of it (I think) but I do have a question. If I start to save slots to particular presets, should I leave slot 1 free for looping “on the fly” for other presets that don’t have any saved loops?

      Hi @TonyFry ,

I think that's a great idea; I'd probably leave slot 1 open because that's the slot that most presets default to.

Hope you're well in these difficult times. I have a further question. I've been trying to use the Onsong midi capability to change the Step (according to the VL3 CC list it's CC No 115 plus a value that equals the required step number) but it doesn't seem to work. All other program changes work well via midi but i cant get this CC to work. Is there a VL3 setting that would enable this feature or does it just not work? The CC controls work well with other equipment such as BeatBuddy, so I'm wondering if I'm doing something wrong?

      Look forward to your reply.

      Best wishes, and stay healthy.

@TonyFry I've reached out to our testing team about this; that isn't regular behaviour, hopefully it isn't an issue with your indiviual unit!

To try to expand the use of my dear VLT2, I setted up my Beatstep to use as a controller, and it works like a charm with all the CC numbers put correctly. I can have quick access to Lead Mute, finally!

The ONLY parameter that had an issue was Reverb Decay, with all the knobs. The time just stops at 3.7 seconds, like it's the max value. If I had a controller with faders I would've tried that too, to see if something changed. I really wanted to use this.

What could be the issue? Is it a VLT2 little unknown bug or what? Cos all other parameters go from zero to max with all the knobs just fine, but not this specific one... and I made sure the CC number was correct and all the other parameters from the MIDI Control Center. Don't have other midi controllers to try out with, sadly.

    Hello,

PaunurgyOEM inspected my faulty unti (knob issue) and determined it needed a whole new board.

You instructed PanurgyOEM to send the unti to you, and you would deal with me directly in resolving my support request.

I have been without my unit since December 26, 2019. Yes, going on 3 months.

I went to Paunurgy directly becasue I got no response for a while from a ticket CAS-52050-W9F6Z5

Can you please tell me if you have received my unit? Can you please contact me and let me know what I need to do? I REALLY need my unit...

    Please help...

    Peter Dunbar

      Hi @PeterDunbar ,

I got in touch with our care team and apparently they have emailed you at the address you provided. I would search "music tribe" in your email and double check your spam. They also sent a fresh reply yesterday which you may have received.

    Hi there,

do you think there will ever be a new firmware for VL3X or is the last one from 2019 the final version?

I would like to know if it's worth to wait or not. I miss the midi start and stop option and mapping start/stop of direkt audio to USB recording to a switch.

    Thanks

    Toni

I think I heard it from the web-vine that no more f/w updates for the VL3X to gear up for the VL4.

Hi, thanks for your reply. Is there any information when a VL4 will come out. It's very quiet about TC Helicon at the moment.

      Hi @antonmartin,

we're currently working hard on the next Voicelive product and some other exciting new products here at TC Helicon. We're running with a very lean team right now, so we simply don't have the bandwidth to work on new firmware for older products and develop new ones. If one of our engineers took time to update VL3 that would directly set back the release of the next Voicelive and other new products.

As of now the VL3x is in it's final stage, but we hope to have the capacity to continue to update it at some point in the future.

I have done some tests and I have found that voice rack FX is working as an AUv3 audio unit in cubasis on apple ios 11.1.2. But.. on ios12 or higher it has issues crash and controls not rendering, this needs to be fixed to work with apple ios 12 or higher. Please pass this on to the developers so that they can get a fix, I have been trying to get the issue resolved for over a year with no success and no help... ?

looks like TC Helicon /Electronics has abandoned this app, I feel I need to review this on the app store so future buyers know of the issues, and the developers have given up and to avoid buying the app. or any future apps by this developer.....

      Hi @yammo ,

I'll let our app development team know about this ASAP. These issues likely aren't on their radar. Thanks for letting us know!

Hi there I am experiencing a problem with the above product and wondering if anyone has any advice.

The PA speaker I am using with the pedal does not have an XLR input, only a 1/4 jack input. Therefore I am connecting the pedal from a Sure SM58 to XLR into pedal, then XLR to 1/4 jack cable out of pedal and into speaker. I am getting a loud noise accompanying the desired effect. I have since tried the pedal using only XLR cables into a different system and the problem disappears.

So as it seems that the noise is caused by using an XLR to 1/4 jack cable as opposed to only XLR, I'm wondering if there are any work arounds / solutions to this problem which would allow me to use this pedal with a PA with only line inputs. I have tried both balanced and unbalanced 1/4 cables and the noise is there with both.

Thanks in advance for any help / advice

    Chris

@chrishair are you finding you need to boost the volume a lot on the current PA? Generally you need to put your mic through a pre-amp, which the mic mechanic doesn't have. If you're going directly into a PA and not using a mic preamp, this could add noise when you boost your mic volume using the PA volume.

I want to ask a similar question from https://community.musictribe.com/t5/Musician/Looper-output-through-guitar-jacks-on-VL3X/m-p/264092/highlight/false but in this forum.

How can I send looper output to the guitar jacks. Or in general seperate from the vocal or guitar tracks? Is this possible on the VL3X?

      Hi @ChrisF ,

Unfortunaly you can't reroute the looper on VL3x. You can route the backing tracks to the guitar outputs but not the looper.

I have a switch-3 footpedal connected to my voicelive 3 footpedal jack and only button 2 of the Switch 3 (center button) works. Buttons 1 & 3 do nothing. I am using a TRS plug that came with the Switch-3. I have run through the setup and attempted to change function of button 1 & 3. Nothing works. Performed factory reset of the VoiceLive-3 and updated firmware (2.2.00 build 366). Still buttons 1 & 3 of switch do not work. Need help, folks!

If you press the "Setup" Button, in the "Input" Tab, have you got the "input type" set to either "Dynamic Mic" or "Condenser" (Depending on what mic you've got ?) The other types might be overiding the footswitch.

If everythings fine there, Tab right to "Mic Control" and make sure they're set to  "Off"

Tab right again, And you say everythings set right in the "Footswitch" Tab ? set to "Switch 3" etc...?

And the footswitch is plugged into the top "Footswitch" Jack.?

If it's nothing from above, then I dunno.

      Might be the lead...

If all else fails, you could maybe find a shop that sells Switch 3's and ask if you could take you're VL3 in to try it with a different one.

@Adventurer this could be an issue with your unit. If you haven't already, create a care ticket under the "support" tab on www.musictribe.com!

Have you tried a different cable? Is there a way you can try the Switch 3 on a different device, like a 3-channel switching amp maybe? Hopefully it's the cable or the Switch 3 and not the unit itself.

Yes, I tried a different TRS cable.  I also checked out the TRS cable and there is continuity between all 3 contacts (tip-to-tip, ring-to-ring & sleeve-to sleeve) on both ends of the cable and there is no short between any of the TRS contacts. IO have no other foot-contolled device to test the Switch-3 and I would be hesitant to do this anyway as I do not have a schematic for the Switch-3 and I wouldn't know what it would do to other systems if a attempted to connect it there.

Switch 3 schematic is here. https://branchonmaybe.wordpress.com/2012/02/25/using-digitech-fs3x-footswitch-with-t-c-helicon-harmony-m/. I doubt that's the issue though, since it's a pretty simple circuit.
