DN9620 for Behringer Wing

Hi everybody,

Thinking about getting the Wing with a DL32 stagebox. In the wing manual, the max length for an AES50 cat5 connection is mentioned to be 80m. Since I will also be doing some bigger festivals with this console, where cat5 cables of up to 100m will be necessary, I was thinking about getting the klark teknik DN9620. This would allow me to run an optical con OR a 100m cat5. Now my question is, since the cat-connection on the DN9620 is also AES50, why does that connection allow up to 100m cat5 while the Wing's built in AES50 connection allows only 80m? It's the same format, is it not?

Thanks for your help!
Cheers!

Hello, it's my understanding (I could easily be wrong) that there are 2 different cat5 type connections on each unit, 1 is a "copper port" that interconnects the pair of devices, It's not aes50, Then there are also 2 Aes50 ports. The copper port interconnects the 2 9620's and can be up to 100m. (If you used fiber optic instead you could do 500m) The devices convert the signal to/from aes50 at either end. I think that this COULD mean you get much longer distance options since you get up 50-80m for aes50 on its own.
