TC Konnekt Desktop 6 problem

Hi,

2 week back I purchased a TC Desktop Konnekt 6 audio interface in order to connect my Heil PR-40 to it so I can capture audio from the Mic in my Mac Pro. Sadly when installing everything I couldn't get any audio our of the microphone into my Mac.

The person who sold me the Desktop Konnect didn't understand what was going wrong and he decided to come back to my place yesterday with some additional equipment to test a few things out.

We tried another microphone, another XLR cable and even another FireWire cable, but sadly it wasn't working. Aparently the audio input level was so low the audio interface didn't react to it. Even when using the boost option and turning the input all the way up, we couldn't get any audio in. He also had a mixing / pream (mackie I believe) table in his car and we dicided to try that out.

We conencted the microphone to the mixing table and then connected that to the audio interface, and we had the same issues. We could only get some audio input when we boosted the volume on the mixing table all the way to the max. The microphone was working fine on the mixing table, but it seems like the audio input level on the Audio Interface was way too low to actually capture anything.

Does anyone know if this is a known issue, or what we could do about it ?

Thanks a lot in advance,

Re: TC Konnekt Desktop 6 problem

Is the correct scene chosen? What gain setting? What type of cable? Is phantom power on?

Re: TC Konnekt Desktop 6 problem

Hi,

The correct Scene was chosen, the microphone was conencted with an XRL Cable to the device, and phantom power was off. It's a dynamic microphone which doesn't need phantom power.

Everything was set to max

Re: TC Konnekt Desktop 6 problem

On the Konnekt 6 what do you have the Gain1 and the gain 2 controls at, in the input section.

Re: TC Konnekt Desktop 6 problem

At start we had the Gain 1 knob turned all the way up (to the right) while leaving the second one the way it was. We selected the first scene (with the microphone). After a while we tried with the Gain 2 know, still no results.

When the Gain 1 knob was turner all the way to the right (max) we could see a very faint signal coming in, but it was negligable, and we couldn't do anything with it.

Re: TC Konnekt Desktop 6 problem

Where is the input/daw knob set? Have you tried turning it all the way to the left? (to input).

Re: TC Konnekt Desktop 6 problem

Hi,

Yes we actually tried that as well, without any succes. We tried everything on my Mac Pro, on my MacBook Pro and even on a Windows PC, but we couldn't get it working at all. The reseller thought it was a faulty unit and took it back.

Re: TC Konnekt Desktop 6 problem

Ok, great. That would also be my conclusion if you tried all of the above.
