UMC22 and beeping

Contributor - Level 1
New UMC22 interface and late 2014 Mac mini.
I get a beep every thirty seconds when trying to use this with Garage Band or any music software.
The input and output under sound shows USB AUDIO CODED DEMO.
I thinks that’s the cause.

Any ideas for a solution

Hi Eddie,

Welcome to the forums. A quick Google search indicates that you probably have a demo version of a USB audio driver installed on your Mac.

https://www.usb-audio.com/download/

I'm not sure what value this would have on a Mac but they do appear to have a Mac version that replaces the OS USB audio driver.

EDIT: The driver seems to be for non-core audio compliant devices. Had you previously installed another audio interface that needed a driver installation?

There's been varying results with removing the driver from /Library/Extensions so the recommended method is to do an OS only restore of the Mac. EDIT2: Of course, make a full time machine backup before doing anything like this, just in case.

Google "usb audio codec demo beep"

OS reinstalled

I did a OS reinstall. Same issue still. USB AUDIO CODEC still says demo.
I can use a little Peavey interface and I dont have this issue.

This interface seems to cause this issue.

Hi Eddie,

When you plug in the Peavey what does Audio Midi Setup show for an interface?

Can you post a "ls -l" of the contents of /Library/Extensions?

What OS version are you running?
