X32 and Reaper

Hello,

A first video on controlling X32<->Reaper.

The X32 can be controlled from Reaper (and soon vice-versa)

Channel select, mute, volume, solo, name, pan can be used at this time. Master channel pan and volume too.

The video is at http://youtu.be/1oKBHDrCgKg

Re: X32 and Reaper

That's cool!
Does banking/layers work? Or are you limited to a certain number of channels?

Re: X32 and Reaper

That program is interesting. You could use it for automation, and mega scene recalls for the theater guys out there.

Yes, very nice.

Re: X32 and Reaper

yes cool - it would be great if it could be developed for dynamic automation - i.e. during play back & mixdown of recorded material from reaper to x32 recording faders movements etc made on the x32 - (the etc would be very brill).

Re: X32 and Reaper

Thank you all for your positive feedback... as a little present, here is the next step: Controlling Reaper from the X32 (a.k.a 32 channel control surface!) http://youtu.be/uOwawSH0Nlw.

Still early work. Interesting elements:
I initially thought of using the setup with chan. 1-16 as control surface and chan 17-32 as flat audio playback. Not too good of an idea, because the X32 actually controls audio. Turns out it works nicely as chan 1-16 (or 32) playing audio from card in 1-16 (or 32) and the actions made at the X32 reflected to Reaper. This way a mix can be made at the deck and automation recorded in Reaper... ready to playback.

I found a limitation with (Reaper or my program) simultaneous sending and listening on different ports. It works well when using only one direction (can be set via tick boxes in the surface control panel with Reaper).

Any layer can be taken in consideration. At this time, channels 1 to 32 are used.

Re: X32 and Reaper

Ho Ho Ho... Here's the thing working both ways!
Time to clean the code, write a little doc and post the SW.

2-way communication Reaper<->X32, tested on 32 channels. http://youtu.be/5e148oruC70
Sorry for the sound to be ... silent! I messed up with the VLC conversion profile

Hi Patrick,

are you doing this using OSC in Reaper?
