advice for an audio setup

Hi,

We bought a new house and it looks like I'm finally going to have somewhere to
set up my recording gear. I also figured it would be a good idea to revisit my
audio setup. It needs to be enclosed in a 19" rack too, because I want to be able to
lock it away from my 3 year old son Smiley Happy

I've no experience with any of this stuff really. I currently own a v-amp2 and
a bass v-amp, and an 8 track eurorack mixer, but want to upgrade to something a bit
more... pro.

What I want to be able to do:

- Rehearse solo stuff (guitars/bass/drums)
- Jam sessions with mates, everyone wearing headphones (I'm a good neighbour, haha)
- Effects processors for guitars/bass
- Equalizer/Mixing
- record drums (yamaha td-20kv), keys to using midi

So far, here's what I'm thinking:

- 19" rack
- Bass V-Amp Pro
- V-Amp Pro
- Eurorack Pro
- Powerplay Pro 8 for headphones
- usb interface for multiple midi devices
- laptop running Reaper or Cakewalk or something, with a UCA222 or something for line-in

I've got 3 months to work out what I want - what would you recommend?

Cheers,
Brett

Re: advice for an audio setup

Hi Brett,

All that looks good although I think you're going to need some microphone preamps at some point and that RX1602 is only line inputs. Depending on how many channels you anticipate there are several options.

First, the RX1202 is a rack mount mixer that has 8 channels to play with. If this is not enough channels and you are concerned about everything fitting into a rack case, remember that you can always get a case that can rack a mixer on top that even has a lid you could close. In that case you could get a QX2442USB.

The QX2442USB also comes with Tracktion 4 software so you'd be covered with a recording DAW too.

Kind Regards,
