is XP SP3 Recommended over SP2?

I have just fresh installed XP SP2 and would like to get peoples opinion / experience on using XP SP3 with TC drivers. I really don't want to jump in only to find that its going to cause incompatibilities!

Now that Microsoft have a hot fix out for the S800 speed issue for SP3, I think SP3 is a fairly safe bet. I haven't really seen much that would indicate decreased performance with SP3.

Thanks for the reply Rune. Does this S800 Speed Issue apply to fresh installs of XP SP2 updated straight to SP3?

From the hotfix description it seems like it is only for those who applied the hotfix in SP2.

I realize this isn't a windows forum, but you seem to have the right knowledge about this lesser known issue. (Hard to find answers elsewhere) Would really appreciate any info if you have the knowledge.

reflekshun: According to Microsoft, the issue would not occur in that situation, however they stated the same thing with clean XP SP2 installs. I have seen plenty of issues resolved by installing that patch...even on clean SP2 installs so if you are experiencing issues, you should defiantely install the patch on SP3:

can anyone share with me the 955408 hotfix Danish version.
Can't seem to get it from the Microsoft guys or any other place on the net.
