x18air trouble with playback over USB

Hi guys,

I have problems playing tracks from DAW to x18.
when I play back the track from DAW, at the x18 output, there is a "crack" and "digital distortion" in which the signal is slightly guessed.
Increasing the buffer to the maximum (2048) does not change anything.
Changing the Clock rate 44k1 or 48k does not change anything.
Changing the USB Interface setup 18/18 ch or 2/2 ch does not change anything.

Configuration:
x18air, win7 (win10), driver 4.38, firmware 1.17, daw reaper, LAN & USB connection

Sound examples (loopback) (WAV):
- sent pink noise from one DAW track to the first x18air USB1 input (trim-18dB),
- sent it to x18air on AUX,
- AUX sent to USB2, recorded the second track in the DAW

Multitrack recording works fine.

Suspected hardware malfunction
Any thoughts?

Change cables

Try a different cable.
Try a different USB port on your computer.
Bypass any hubs.
Unplug as many USB devices as you can - isolate to only X18 and PC.

I have found too many USB "devices" (instruments - Casio, smart battery backups, et al) that have crappy USB interfaces and drivers. Anything plugged in to the "other" device causes noise on all audio connected to the USB interface.

Re: x18air trouble with playback over USB

You might know this already, but the XR18's USB settings require a reboot of the mixer to take effect. They don't change on the fly.

They probably *could* change on the fly, if Behringer wanted it. This would involve dropping off the USB bus and re-enumerating. But they didn't do it that way.
