@AwkwardTyson wrote: @KenMitchell that's awesome! Looking forward to see what you can come up with. I've looked at AutoHotkey a little bit but I'm not too good at programming and what not. The Pre-Made hotkeys in the X Air app didn't seem diverse enough to just assign hotkeys for me so I don't know what all you can do on the back end? For example, you can only mute/unmute the selected channel you're on. You can't set a specific hotkey to mute a specific channel like FX4 BUS or Mute Group 1 or something like that. At least from what I can tell. But that's solid that Corsair is hooking you up! Can't wait to see what you come up with! Hi Tyson, I just started looking at this today. I've been able to re-compile the XAir_Command tool for Windows so that's the basis for what I'm going to test for now. XAir_Command is a tool that alllows you to send OSC (open sound control) messages directly to the mixer without using the XAir Edit app. So far I have two Windows command files, mute1.cnd and unmute1.cmd that I can trigger using the SD buttons. The .cmd fiules tell XAir_Command to send "/ch/01/mix/on ,i 0" to mute channel 1 and "/ch/01/mix/on ,i 1" to unmute. My next task is to figure out how to run .cmd files from AutoHotKey. It definitely looks like this is the tool for the job. I looked at developing my own hotkey handler code and that is not trivial at all with the latest security features in the OS. In other words, they really don't want user space programs monitoring (and recording) keystrokes. Not much, but some progress has been made. Ken

Hi Stefan, This thread is based on the fact that you want to record Main OUT of the XR18. It was my understanding that you have your USB sends tapped pre-fader on the MAIN LR outputs? If this is not the case, then I missed something in this thread. If your USB sends are tapped right at the input of the channel then you should be seeing nearly the same level as the channel input. If you see -15dB at the channel input what do you see at the DAW? Not sure what DAW you are using but make sure you are looking at meters that are showing the input of the track and not the output. Hope this helps, Ken

@soundofmatt wrote: I finally got around to unboxing and firing up my Behringer UMCHD404HD, connected to my ASUS Windows 10 (Home) laptop. All the USB ports are 2.0. I've downloaded and installed the UMC Control Panel and driver version v4.38.0. I normally use Pro Tools 12.4.0 for my home recording, but I'm experiencing .. .challenges .. with the 404HD. I have configured PT to use the UMC driver instead of ASIO4ALL (which has been uninstalled at this point anyway). Every time I start working in PT, even with a newly created session, I eventually get an error panel saying: "ASIO device properties have been changed by the device control panel. Pro Tools must be restarted for these changes to take effect. Please restart Pro Tools." It may happen immediately, it may take 10 minutes, but it always happenbs. Suffice to say, I haven't changed anything in the control panel while PT was running. I have tried every suggestion I've found here on the boards .. uninstalled NVidia gfx .. turned off all my Windows system sounds .. made sure that the windows sound settings for sample rate and size (48K and 24 bit) match the settings in the UMC control panel .. turned off wifi, all networks, uninstalled every piece of audio related software I could find on my computer .. uninstalled and reinstalled the driver ... moved all the USB connections around to different ports on the computer .. etc. No luck. I eventually get the ASIO error popup. Sometimes PT even crashes outright with an Access violation error. That's fun. And here's the kicker: the UMC404HD is rock solid in Reaper. And in Audacity. Never see an error, never get a glitch, nary a hiccup, nothing. I don't want to have to learn YET ANOTHER DAW just to use this interface, but it is starting to seem like that is my only option. I know from luring here for a while and reading the posts that there are quite a few people experiencing Windows 10 problems with the UMC404HD. Any advice? If I had the scratch I'd just go buy a Mac and be done with all this Windows audio nonsense, but I can't justify THAT expense for my silly little bedroom studio recordings. Hi Matt, Welcome to the community. The "settings" in the UMC control panel are actually just status of what the interface is set to. As an experiment, bring up the UMC control panel, click on status, then start a new project in PT @ 44.1K. You should see the Current Samplerate in the status change to 44100. Now, close that project and start another new project at 48K and again check the status. It should now be 48000. Are you using the 404HD as your system audio device as well? I'd recommend against doing that because something as simple as starting a Youtube video can change the Windows system audio settings which can pull the rug out from under the ASIO interface. Let us know if this helps. Ken

Hi August, In that case you can just use all XLR female to male cables end-to-end. Take a pair of XLR f/m cables and connect the Main LR outputs of the Eureorack to the XLR inputs of the DSP. Take another pair of XLR f/m cables from the DSP XLR outputs to the DEQ XLR inputs. Finally, take a third pair of XLR f/m cables from the DEQ XLR outputs to the XLR inputs of your powered monitors. The EX1 isn't in the path since, as Robert stated earlier, that functionality is already in the DSP. Let us know how it goes. Ken

I wanted to point out one thing and that is you can't record using an iPad at the same time you are using the XAir app to control the mixer. Unless something has changed since I last tested this, the reocrding app has to stay in the forebround and the iPad cannot record when locked. Feel free to correct me if this is old info. Hope this helps, Ken

Here's the link with the forum gibberish removed: https://downloads.music-group.com/software/behringer/X-TOUCH/X-TOUCH-EDITORv1-21.zip If you are using a Mac you'll need to look at Virtualbox to run Windows on a Mac. There is no native Mac editor for the Compact/Mini. Hope this helps, Ken

@sfbayjay wrote: I'm considering purchase of a UMC404HD interface. I've done a lot of reading here on the MusicTribe forum and elsewhere and I have reviewed the excellent signal path schematic that I found here. I just want to confirm what I think I understand after reviewing the diagram. If I have instruments/mics plugged into the UMC404HD interface and the IN/PB knob turned all the way to IN, the input signals end up at the main outputs. Can I, simultaneous with the input monitoring described above, have USB input signals from my DAW routed to playback outputs A and/or B? In other words, can I pass the mic/instrument signals straight through to the main outs while simultaneously sending different USB signal from my DAW to playback A/B outputs? The diagram makes it look like this is possible but I want to be sure as it is important for a specific application I have in mind. Also - one follow on question as I have seen conflicting reports - can this unit be powered from the USB cable alone or must one use the wall power supply? I've heard that perhaps wall power is required/desireable when using phantom power for condensers, but maybe not needed otherwise? Thanks for any help! Hi Jay, Welcome to the community. Yes, other than the "Mix" knob the inputs and PBs don't intersect so you should be fine with what you described. As far as using external power I can tell you that it depends on the output power of the USB port being used. The PS that comes with the 404HD is 5VDC@1000mA so as long as you have a computer that provides what is commonly known as high power USB ports (i.e. Macbook Pro) it will work fine. Without a 5W USB port the interface still appears to work fine if not using phantom power but I wouldn't rely on that for a show. I do a lot of sound effects sampling in the field so I regularly use a pair of stereo mics connected to my 404HD without external power but I'm using a 2015 Macbook Pro. If "sfbayjay" mean San Francisco bay let me know if you want to test out your setup. I'm in South San Jose. Hope this helps, Ken

Hi Jordan, Welcome to the community. You might want to try creating another user account and seeing if that makes a difference. There's been some posts in the past related to preferences specific to a user. A new, clean user account shouldn't load any "start at login items". Hope this helps, Ken

Hi August, Sorry for the late reply. A question. Where do you want the DSP/DEQ in your setup? Do you want to use these to process a single channel or do you want these on the output? I would definitely put the DSP in front of the DEQ and connect the XLR outputs of the DSP to the XLR inputs of the DEQ. You could also use the TRS outputs of the DSP along with TRS-to-XLR to the XLR inputs of the DEQ. Cabling to the inputs of the DSP and the outputs of the DEQ, again, will depend on where you want to put the FX. Hope this helps, Ken

HI Stefan, Are you sending those channels to any FX before sending them to Main LR? If not, you should be seeing nearly the same level at your DAW from the USB pre-fader tap point. If you are using FX, you need to check the level being sent to the FX and also the level of the FX return to the Main bus. Gain structure is more than just the channel input level. You need to maintain levels through the entire signal path. Try soloing each channel and see what level appears at your DAW. For doing this type of testing, I like to use a tone generator on my phone connected to the channel with a 3.5mm to 6.3mm TS Y-cable. Use one side for mono and both sides for stereo linked channels. I set the input to -20dB and then got through and set all faders to unity. I solo the channel and expect to see exactly -20dB at Main LR. If not, I work backwards to figure out why. Hope this helps, Ken
